Shocking customer service. Notified of issues repeatedly only for the desk staff to write them down on a bit of paper and presumably throw it in the bin the moment we were out of sight. Nothing ever happened. Gave up by day two. Room still not cleaned and replenished by 15:30 on day two when we got back, kept the Do Not Disturb on after that cos it's a waste of time. Beds uncomfortable, old collapsed mattresses, poorly made up, TV remote not paired to TV, shower temperature valve adjuster came off in my hand.

Staff was not helpful on reception . Beds were very uncomfortable also 3story building lifts were out of order . We had to carry all our luggage on third floir which waa very difficult & exuasting .

The air conditioning didnt work, the lift is still broken, we were here in June and August and it was broken on both occasions as well. We were up on the fourth flloror this time around. It rained overnight amd rain water leaked from the ceiling and bathroom door frame into the bathroom as our room was on the top floor. The floor had only been half hoovered. However, the hotel is good value price wise as the rooms are okay and it is a good location.

No Lift. Poor Wi-Fi.

Not so great any more, no mention made on the site or in the pre-stay message that the lift is out of order and apparently has been for some time. This is unforgiveable, especially for people like me with access needs, they did change my room from the 3rd to the 1st floor but there were no staff available to help take my luggage up the three long flights to Room 101(!). The wi-fi was insufficient to take part in a Zoom call without constant freezing. Staff were pleasant but seemed bored, as if serving out time on a doomed enterprise.

Just meh.

The lift wasn't working and I was on the 4th floor, so quite a few stairs to get up. The rooms up there are quite rundown in places and have no noise cancelling for people walking through the corridoors and loud doors that bang. The lock on the door wasn't great. But shower, tv were highlights. There were dusty rollerblinds too above the bed as I pulled them. There were lots of dark cabinet dressers but for no real reason. No fridge, no safe. Bed was clean and gave a ressonable night's sleep.

Disappointing Stay

Having stopped at this hotel several times previously I was incredibly disappointed with the standard we received on this occasion. I came here with my mum for a two night stay and was shocked to hear that we had to pay a £50 damages fee which we have never had to do before but this was never explained to us at the time. We were also told the lift wasn't in use and hadn't for about a month but we later found out it was a lot longer looking at previous reviews. My mum is 76, we were on the 3rd floor and there was no offer of any porter service which should have been implemented if the lift hasn't been in use for so long, we both struggled up the stairs with our cases. The room was pleasant and clean but we only had one set of towels between two, we had to ask several times for some more. There was very little staff anywhere, it's all looking very tired, the bar had was very limited as they had run out of lots of drinks and the menu hadn't been adapted to show this. We still enjoyed, the hotel is still beautiful and in a fab location I just hope someone can get it turned round.

Parking has increased in pricing from £10.00 a night, then they take a deposit of £50.00 which is given after 10-15 working days which the receptionist kept saying we understand new management. The lift wasn't working still. This has been more than a year. So the receptionist puts us up on the 4th floor when I told him my partner has asthma can you put us lower and he said no. Also the key card given was dirty, he had to write in the keycard our room number rather than on a card envelope so we couldn't see our room number properly. Such a let down really. Checking in took alot longer as everything is done on a tablet and the receptionist sounded extremely rude. Not sure if I want to stay again and I should really ask for my money back as the room wasn't clean.

The building is lovely. However, work remains to be done, to make it an excellent place to stay. The guest rooms do not have refrigerators. The lift was out of service during my entire 10-day stay. One faucet in my room was not working properly. And the same breakfast is served every day, without change.

AVOID RUN & HIDE!!

Absolutely shocking, I was here with my family and as soon as we step foot in the hotel. We saw a woman screaming at the reception front office complaining about feaces and blood in the bed. We were in complete shock, as it was 11pm and it was too late to go anywhere else we had no choice but to get a room. There was no elevator and we had to walk up 3 larges series of stairs with suitcases and prams, no notice of this prior to booking. We got up 3 flights of stairs and one of the staff showed us to our room and what do you know there was already someone in there! They had double booked, we had to walk down 2 flights of stairs again! To another room and the key would not work!! I wanted a drink and the same staff member couldn't operate the till!! When we finally checked out and got home - I got a parking ticket/fine for parking in the car park without paying. EVEN THOUGH I DID PAY!!! I would not stay here again, even if they paid me :)

Old Station hotel has hit the buffers

Grand Victorian hotel with elegant spacious interiors. Stay ruined by broken lift, broken tvs, broken phones in rooms. Tried three different rooms and no signal or wifi in any. Only merit of staying was the price...cheap as chips.

Overall it was a disappointing experience. The lift wasn’t working and we were on the fourth floor. Upon arrival there were no towels in the room. We were supposed to get a bathtub but we got a shower instead. When we arrived for breakfast there was no food and we had to wait 15 minutes. However breakfast was the highlight of our stay. The quality was really good.
