great location, nice staff, I like the king size bed

Great central location, nice staff. Wi-fi was a bit slow at times.

Very clean. Super quiet. All the staff was friendly and helpful. Short walk to all the witchy attractions. Short walk to the train station or quick uber/taxi ride.

The staff was very friendly when we arrived and provided a map and discounts to nearby areas.

Location, location - we enjoyed our stay at the Clipper Ship Inn & were able to walk to downtown Salem in 20 mins and drive to other towns (Beverly, Manchester-by-the-Sea) easily. The space in our 1-bedroom suite was spacious and being on the top floor allowed us plenty of quiet at nite. We weren't here for amenities (like game rooms or pools). Our only wish was for a bit more TLC/touchup in the older bathroom. fyi - high tension wires run high over the inn. We would return here again to tour the northern coast of MA.

Short walk from historic district, winter park and the willows. Short drive to surrounding villages such as Danvers, Rockport, and Gloucester. Just far enough away to not feel overwhelmed by the tourist crowd

Older facility. Staff were helpful. Location is convenient.

Excellent stay, great room, and friendly staff! Couldn't ask for more!

Never have a met a more hostile, inconsiderate, belligerent, and downright inept hotel manager. At check in, I was asked for a cash security deposit or a debit card. While still questioning the policy, I unwisely gave my debit card to the clerk, who seems confused by the check-in process. As he runs my card, the manager tells me that they will hold the deposit for 10 days. I have never heard of such policy regarding a security deposit in any hotel or motel, ever. The manager became hostile and said this was standard procedure everywhere. I did not want to give them $100 for two weeks for an overnight stay. I was told (with a huge amount of attitude) that I could go across the street to the ATM. By now, I've had my fill of being treated like a potential criminal at a fleabag hotel in skid row. I tell her this is not how hoteliers behave, and I do not want to stay. This is when I am informed they have already charged the deposit. I ask her to void the transaction. She has no idea how to do so (supposedly). I am beyond livid by now, and as she has already proven suspicious, I want to cancel the reservation. She refuses, then agrees to. I tell her I want it in writing that she will refund my charges. She refuses, and insists that I process the complaint through Orbitz, contradicting herself again. I point out her inconsistencies, and that she has lost what little credibility she might have had. She then kicks me out, and threatens to call the police. I left. Never EVER stay here.

Great spacious rooms. I reserved a room but got a suite. Air conditioner wasn’t sufficientl for both rooms but closing off the living room worked great and having extra room was also great.

Nice, clean place for one night - staff was friendly and area was quiet

Air Conditioner blew warm air, the room next to us had same problem. Had to sleep with window open and it was still HOT. They charge extra for people over two, even if you book online for two adults and two children. No breakfast offered. NO microwave. Hard, uncomfortable beds. We are used to "budget" hotels, but this one was below average.

I was berated over the phone by one of the women at the front desk about my lack of intelligence and how I planned my trip when I had simply asked if there was an earlier check in option. This made me so uncomfortable that I waited till after the original check in time so I wouldn't have to face that woman. I also did not feel safe being a single woman staying here, there is NO dead bolt or latch, just a simple push lock. Also the A.C. unit doesn't work very well.

Clipper Ship seemed a bit old but room was clean and comfortable. Everything worked. Loved the direct TV, keurig. Easy to find. Peaceful and quiet. Would stay again.

I was a little nervous to stay here after reading the other reviews but honestly it wasn't that bad. The room was very clean but really just had the basics, although for the price I wasn't really expecting more. The only thing I didn't like was the mattress was extremely hard so it was hard to get a good night's sleep. The front desk lady was a little strange but I think she meant well. She didn't barge into our room or anything like other customers had described. I would probably stay there again.

Welcoming staff. Easy access to everything downtown. Lovely stay.

Room not ready when it was supposed to be. Owner Lady not welcoming at all. The office smelled like a kitty litter box as the cat was allowed to walk on reception desk and who knows what else. The older cleaning couple were the nicest of everyone we came in contact with there. The last night we were there we were on mouse patrol . One mouse running under beds which freaked us out.

I rated this based on other inns at this price range, you can't compare it to a 5 star hotel. The inn was very clean and well maintained. Staff members were kind and friendly. The bed was pretty hard and the place was a bit old fashioned, but for the price and location it was a great find. The inn is only a little over a half a mile from downtown, so you can walk or take a $6 cab. Overall had a good experience here.
