Overall good with a few problems
The location is superb. It’s on a quiet street and the apartment is quiet. The building (which is small) appears to have been recently renovated. All the fixtures and appliances worked well. The rooms are spacious enough. The air conditioning worked very well and was adjustable in each room. In easy walking distance were perhaps 200 restaurants, innumerable shops, and major tourist attractions. We even walked to the train station (50 minutes) and the Cite du Vin (40 minutes). The public garden is very close by. The major problem was that on certain days, the building, including inside the apartment, smelled as if the sewer had backed up into it. Other minor issues were that when our plane was delayed, we were charged 60 euros for a late check in; the manager would not provide a second set of keys to enter the building or apartment so that our family could split up; the manager was slow to respond to inquiries about late check out and needed prodding after two days to respond, and never responded to our request to pay for an additional day. Also, just an hour before checkout, we were informed that we needed to strip the bedding and empty the garbage cans — without any direction about where to deposit the garbage. Some lightbulbs were missing, and the front door handle kept sliding off. All that said, we might rent the apartment again because of its space, location and cleanliness—especially if we knew the sewage smell had been eliminated.
