We had the best time in our overwater bungalow! We’ve been travel for almost a month around the world and this was the best place we stayed! Location is incredible, hotel beach is beautiful and best beach of Bora Bora is right next door! Also next to supermarkets and restaurants! The staff was amazing, so nice and helpful! Our bungalow was perfect, very confortable and clean! Breakfast had enough food! Thank you so much Hotel Maitai, we had the best memories because of you!!
Best part of our honeymoon. Staff very helpful and room amazing. You feel like in paradise with everything you may need or just think about just brought to you in a matter of minutes. Perfect stay really with a lot of good help in organizing transfers etc... Amazing...
We wanted an overwater Bungalow at a reasonable price and this was the one that made sense. We did have a reservation at hotel on a Motu but we didn't want to have to take a water taxi all the time. We did go Scuba diving prior to coming to the Maitai and we loved it. The snorkeling at Maitai was great. They are part of a reef regeneration project and you could see how it was working. We liked being able to walk to the Market and different restaurants. We did eat at the available restaurant (one was closed) twice and were happy with our meals although the service was a little slow. The front office staff was great and very helpful. We also rented a e car at Avis and had fun with that.
We're not nit picky people, so for us, this place was very nice. We loved the chickens and cats and thought the staff was wonderful and helpful. The wifi didn't work that well, but we weren't too bothered by it. We stayed in a room in the hotel--not the overwater bungalows--which was a much better value. The swimming and snorkeling was good and just outside the hotel entrance across the road. The entry terrace and grounds are very inviting and well groomed. We rented bikes and a scooter one day. A ride around the island is a must and easily done. This was our first adventure in French Polynesia and this hotel helped make it a fond memory. Would definitely stay here again.
Maitai Hotel is situated on a nice part of Bora Bora, although it is on the main island, there are plenty of corals and fish under and near the over water bungallows. It was low season, but very - very hot, with no rain. I stayed there for one week, so for me the food was repetitive. It’s amazing if you are there only for a few days, then it becomes boring. Also they use very little spices. The famous Matira beach is 10 minutes walk and also the shop where you can buy water. Take the kayak in the morning when the water is not rough yet.
Stayed in a simple over water bungalow and thoroughly enjoyed it. Swimming from private deck. Sunrise/sunset. Pristine beach. Lovely and gracious staff. Not the overpriced, Uber luxury of other properties, but just my style. Simple beauty. Great restaurant.
We stayed 4 nights as a first stop on our Tahiti adventure. Our flight was changed to an earlier one so the transport was not at the pier in Vaitape to meet us; however, one did come along about 20 minutes later and they were able to accommodate us. Arrival at the hotel: After a full 24 hours of travel we were thirsty, hungry, dirty and tired but not necessarily in that order. We were given a refreshing welcome drink and a beautiful flower lei (smelled INCREDIBLE). Our room was not immediately ready, but we changed into swim stuff and shorts and went across the street to the beach. Played in the water for awhile until the restaurant opened so we could get some food. Room: Once we ate (talk about food later) we were able to get to our room, the luggage had already been taken up. When I say "up"..I mean up a hill. It was quite the climb but we are in good walking shape so it wasn't too bad. If you at staying at the top of the hill you won't be running back to your room too many times if you forget something. The room was comfortable and the view of the water was amazing. The weird louvered window in the bathroom giving others in the room a view of your "business" was a little strange, we hung our beach towels up for privacy so it was not a big deal. We received 2 bottles of water free the first day and each day after if you want you have to pay, I thought this was ridiculous, but everywhere we went we paid to drink water. Just don't offer it free on only one day. Location: Great location. Matira Beach just a 10 minute stroll down the road where you will encounter a liquor store, a couple of restaurants and a souvenir/sundries store to pick up essentials and necessities if you need them. In the other direction there was also a small store where you could buy groceries, sodas and other food things. Food: Our room package included breakfast, if we had to pay the $30 per person each day I wouldn't have bothered. It was buffet style and it was OK. The food tasted fine, there just wasn't much variety. Good bread and coffee, great fresh fruit. I did like the cats and roosters roaming around, they were cute. The other restaurant across the street (belongs to MaiTai) has very good food and is right on the beach. Food is expensive but very good. MaiTai Happy Hour: Every night in the lobby bar from 5:30 to 6:30 it is Happy Hour with 2 for 1 drinks. We took advantage of this every night. There were some evenings we were the only people there, but the drinks were delicious and 2 drinks for $15 is a great deal by Bora Bora standards. Overall there are newer places to stay on Bora Bora. I chose this place because it wasn't on a motu (for ease of getting around) and we were only here for 4 days before moving on to another island. We were treated well, the room was clean , the food decent, drinks were cold and we had a wonderful time.
Well, this place was ok and in the standard of Bora Bora. We paid more than other offers we found on internet and we didn't get what we paid. Anyway, great location, service ok, small room. Perfect place to relax on the sunset just in front of the hotel and near the overwaters.
Breakfast included during our stay at Maitai Polynesia Bora Bora. There are cats and chickens around the breakfast tables. We can play with them and feed them. The location is good as it is closed to Avis for us to pick up a rental Renault Twizy electric fun car for two. We went to a shop nearby to buy roasted chicken and souvenirs. Not closed to downtown Vaitape though but we took the early shuttle on our last day of check out and managed to shop for Black pearls at the ferry terminal.
Staffs and price good. WiFi and bugs annoying Ate at the main island. Walked there. Expensive breakfast here. First time in my experience we did not have communal eating set up with other holiday makers. Overall, unmistakably secluded pricey experience
