Has a great view and love the pool area, playground, etc. Great location as well.

The property is very old and is showing it's age. We were pleased with it's cleanliness in all areas. The electrical outlets in the bedroom need replacing as they wold not "hold" a phone charger. The couch is very old, uncomfortable and needs replacing. Bathroom is very clean and has been updated. Overall satisfactory but could use some upgrading.

Our room was disappointing. It was very outdated. There was a sign stating to keep door closed in our building entrance however our front door was broken. Upon entering the building, the old musty smell overpowered the building. Our room was fairly clean but there were bugs in one shower and the door on the upstairs shower was off the hinges would open while showering. The whole room had a dark feel to it, the carpet the furniture the paint the appliances, well everything needed updating. Paint peeling in the corners, speakers and light fixtures hanging loose. My kids wouldn’t sleep in their room, my 12 yr old daughter said “it’s too creepy” and my 10 year old son wanted to go back home. He slept on the floor. The only thing I enjoyed about the room was the king bed and the jacuzzi tub. I was under the impression that our room had been updated. I also thought we were supposed to have a view of the mountain, I mean we drove around our elbow up the mountain you would think there’d be some kind of view. Our view was trees and a storage box. This room was a place to lay our heads at night, that’s it. We stayed gone most of the day. It’s a shame Highlands hasn’t kept up their rooms. It could be a nice place to stay. The manager was polite, but didn’t offer to switch our room

Nice rooms close to Sugar Mountain with bus service to the slopes available.

It was absolutely beautiful inside and out. Amazing view and more than what I expected.

It was not as described, on the web site it show’s picture of a Jacuzzi and shower in the bathroom. It had a standard tub shower combo. Also a stereo system, did not have.

We loved our room. Had everything you needed. Only thing I suggest is a full mirror in bathroom or bedroom. The view was wonderful. Close to everything groceries, restaurants, shops. Hiking areas, Ziplines, mountain biking trails. What we didn't like was the pool and hot tub it needs some updates. Otherwise everything else was great

Love the views and nice warm pool! Tons of space in the 2 bed unit.

Loved the place and the stunning view but the property is very old and if you are staying on the ground floor you will hear every step the people do upstairs and if you aren’t lucky as we were and they walk around all night you won’t have any sleep. If they flush the toilet you think it’s on your own bathroom! Mabybe replacing some ancient floor boards might help!

Location awesome, spacious place. Smelled very old though and mattresses must be 30 plus years old. Especially mattress in sleeper sofa was extreme uncomfortable, springs popped out. Hard to regulate heater. Otherwise everything there what’s needed.

Rooms were a little dated but the mountain view was great. Definitely would consider going back.

Older facility but well maintained and clean. Everything worked, the kitchen was well stocked with cookware, the appliances were adequate, the overall effect was nice. The colors were dated and the carpet was tired but clean, There were no bad smells, the balcony drew us out every morning and evening to enjoy the cool breezes. Grandfather Mountain dominated the view which was pleasant as the clouds formed and evaporated. Checkin and checkout was informal and efficient and the staff pleasant. The facility was far enough away from the hustle and bustle to be soothingly quiet and high enough on the mountain to give a real sense of peace. This was our second stay. The first was pleasant which called us back. We were very pleased with this stay as well. A nice Italian restaurant just down the mountain was a wonderful surprise and we went twice. Cool temps, great views and pleasant staff made our stay relaxing and worthwhile.

The view from our balcony and bedroom was breathtaking. The room itself was spacious, had a kitchen, fireplace, washing machine and dryer but everything is very very outdated. They only give you linens once during your stay, and the towels are awful so scratchy, I wouldn't even use them to clean my car, the dishes in the cupboards I had to rewash before using because they were all visibly dirty. The check out procedures are: you must take out the garbage, put dirty linens by the door, clean the fireplace, do the dishes and have the dishwasher running and re set the thermostat to 60. If you want an affordable place with a great view and a convenient location to sugar mountation and don't mind working on your vacation then this is it, but bring your own towels. Personally next time I'd splurge a few dollars more to not have to work on vacation.

Staff were very good. Decent indoor club house. Very close to Sugar Mountain resort! The heater was the only bummer - we had a tough time getting it set to a comfortable temperature - no A/C.

Heaters noisy. Carpet with major wrinkles. Door jams damaged over time with shoddy attempts at repair. Doors bump into each other in the bathroom. Much less than we are accustomed to.

Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback. I am sorry we failed to meet your expectations. Based off what you have said, I am assuming you stayed in our only building that has not been renovated yet. We are constantly making great strides to improve our guests overall experience. This particular building is scheduled to be renovated this Spring.(I know this doesn't help you now.) Despite the unit being outdated, we hope you and your family were still able to make some awesome memories together exploring the area. I can only hope you will give us a second chance in the future to make it up to you because I know we are very capable. I completely respect your anonymous post, but because of this, I am not able to look into your reservation details. For what it's worth, I can tell you we have been fully booked the past couple of weeks. That is the ONLY reason we wouldn't allow someone to move units. We genuinely care about each and every guests' experience. I am truly sorry we disappointed you! If you decide to allow us to host your next vacation to our area, please call our office, and I will personally make sure you are in a refurbished unit with a spectacular view! Thank you for staying with us!

Out units have been renovated and no longer have the Jacuzzi or a stereo system. We do have 2 buildings that have not been renovated and still have the Jacuzzis and stereo systems in them.
