This hotel is in a good location. Close to shopping, restaurants, and the lake. The area felt safe and quiet at night. The hotel itself is a gem…. Full of historical charm. The staff was welcoming. Also there is parking a few minutes away. Would gladly return.

Laura was the perfect host. The rooms are enormous and the house is a true mansion. We couldn't believe how spacious it was, with so many little details that made gave us a sense of wonder. They also have a lovely wine store inside with quite a few excellent selections that we as wine lovers were previously unaware. We are already planning to return.

This is one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The rooms are roomy and as nicely decorated as the rest of the villa, which you are free to walk through. I would love to come back here again.

VesConte Palace: a Museum-like Accommodation

Old World venue with significant artwork and artifacts stemming back hundreds of years from the original family who owned the palace. Of interest to us were original letters from prior Popes to the Cozza family. Note, the palace chapel is more historic than functional. The palace was begging to be explored, which proved challenging in December with many unheated ballrooms, libraries and parlors. Our room was comfortable, quaint, although somewhat sparse on comfort items. The bathroom had surprisingly limited supplies, with single-use body-wash packets for showering. The hotel managers (as of Dec 2024), Jonnie and Laura were extremely friendly and helpful during our stay. It was not clear that the hotel would not be serving meals within the hotel, rather contracting with another restaurant establishment with great service. Jonnie provided a nice wine tasting experience, reasonably priced, although quite chilly without heaters in the wine cellar. He was helpful with a last-minute taxi to Viterbo. Laura recommend a friendly and accommodating taxi service to Orvieto. It’s been over seven years since the palace was last updated, and subsequently featured by Forbes Magazine (Impeccable Italy: Il Vesconte). Covid seemingly took a toll on the hotel amenities as the experience did not seem to match up to the 2018 article. We are hoping the Duke will continue to invest in the palace encouraging return-visits to the historic VesConte Palace and the charming town of Bolsena.

Nice ancient residence, lots of antique furniture & ambience, quiet w/comfy bed. Bathroom needed attention so shower wand fits wall & doesnt crash into the bath tub if moved & need a tub plug. Would be nice to add small lotion with bath soap to make this a more kuxurious stay. And the ancient door was VERY difficuot to lock in and out. Not good fire risk but you could knock the doo down if nec. Must make reservation for fabulous lake side dinner. Stroll down Viale Nicola Colesanti to lake side restaurants Trattoria del Moro & Il Gabbiano!! And enjoy wanderjng the medieval lane. Perfect central location.

Our stay was incredible, a unique experience, beautiful place, close to the main tourist attractions, great food nearby, and the hotel's Enoreca has excellent wines. There is a supermarket just a few steps away. It couldn't have been better. We loved it so much that we extended our stay.

Great option in Bolsena

A great experience to stay in a Renaissance castle, a real museum during the day. The manager has excellent communication skills, was very helpful and kind. Parking is near, the hotel will sell you daily vouchers. Plenty of restaurants nearby. A nice walk to the Lake Bolsena. The room was fairly comfortable, very clean. Large bathroom, very clean. Highly recommended.

This property is gorgeous, my husband and I loved walking around and looking at all the art. It’s 500 years old which is x3 the age of our origin country so it blew our minds. Breakfast was classically Italian and delicious.

Hostile Service in an Amazing Palace

We arrived prior to others in our group and were told we had to wait for them to check-in (two separate reservations). We were finally able to not wait and were told they didn't want to have to go up the stairs twice. The woman at check-in was very unpleasant. The common areas of the palace and the rooms were just as expected - extraordinary! The instructions in the room remind you of what is "FORBIDDEN" while touring the property. Review the check-in policies because I believe they are stricter than other places in order to not man a desk. We are wine collectors and wanted to enjoy a bottle of wine in the evening but the rooms didn't have glasses. We thought it was lucky that there were some in the wine tasting room downstairs to only be reprimanded for entering the area. We were told twice, "don't do it again" in text and we had set off an alarm. The area is also where they had stored our wine. We would have loved to put for a tour of the place (which they offer) but felt so uncomfortable with their hostility. Our experience was a shame for the grand property. We did not encounter any other guests on the property. Also worth noting our room was significantly different than our friends (same room type).

This hotel is in an incredible building. It's like sleeping in an old castle. Love the decor and the rooms were spacious and well equipped (except for no air condition and it was really hot when we went). The bathroom was modern and clean. The location is also great, right by a nice piazza so you can find food, coffee, bars easily close by. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the lakefront, which is also gorgeous.
