This hotel is very well located for the sights in central Bologna. The hotel is traditional in style. The rooms are adequate and our room (245) appeared to have a recently refurbished bathroom with shower. The heatwave made the room slightly uncomfortable And although there was air conditioning it did not function fully at all times. The fridge was not very cold either. Breakfast is in the basement from 7am to 10.30am and offers a good choice with freshly made coffee made on request by the staff.
Great location for sight seeing and train station ,all on the door step. Spacious triple room, with large baroque style furniture and modern bathroom. Very clean. Staff helpful and break fast is good.It was quiet at night, able to sleep well.
The hotel itself was nice but our room was not ready right away, which was fine. When they said it was ready, we went up and noticed the toilet seat had hair all over it. We asked a maid on the floor to come in and clean it and she did happily. After she left, we realized there was hair in the shower and soap stains in the soap dish, making us think the bathroom had not been cleaned at all. We went down to the front desk to ask to have someone come up and clean it and no one ever came. I think they were rushing to get our room ready they just skipped over cleaning the bathroom entirely. There were also brown stains on the both of the bedspreads. Our friends in other rooms had no problems but our room was dirty.
Very central place, very clean, quite despite this is situated in the main street, comfortable. It is close ( 5 min walking) from central station (where you can take direct bus to airport) and 5 minutes from main square from historical central.
The hotel is situated close to everything in oldtown bologna. Friendly staff, clean room. Breakfast simple bit ok. This is a 4 starr because of the little things that are special. Newspapers, free wifi, flipflops, etc. The airco is not strong enough to leep the room cool, thatever fan speed you are using. If you close the windowm you do not hear anything drom pitside city life, great! We stayed here with family, adults one child. Good choice!
Bologne has everything for the city break. The hotel is well located between the main historic centre and the railway station, allowing easy travel to neighbouring towns and cities with relative ease. The hotel is not however a 4 star by any stretch of the imagination. It is badly in need of money being spent, not just on the outdated and tired rooms but also on staff training with the reception staff in particular being made aware of the importance of giving guests a friendly welcome at arrival and being helpful as required thereafter. Breakfast is a disconcerting experience with mirrored walls on one side wall giving a really strange feeling as you walk to and from your table. Food is poor , tinned fruit etc although if you like cold hard boiled eggs, there is a large supply. Beyond breakfast, there is no restaurant in the hotel albeit this is not a problem given the number of all types of eateries close by. Bar facilities and room service menu are limited and if you want a drink at the bar, you have to wait until the sole porter becomes available. There is a taxi rank in front of the hotel and if you want a cab, reception will always refer you to it even if you wish to pre-book. Be a little bit careful with this as taxis are not always waiting at the rank, particularly in the morning.
Disappointing stay in an otherwise outstanding city. Changed room as mold and musk stench was over powering. As advertised free parking was not honoured at checkout. And just to make sure we never return - the bell boy watched and gazed with certain bored emptiness - as our nine year old daughter struggled with 3 bags as she made her way out to our car. Avoid.
This hotel is in a terrific location on the main street (Via dell'Independenza), right next to shops and about 10 minutes' walk from the train station at the top end of the street and Piazza Maggiore, the heart of Bologna, at the bottom end. The hotel itself has been decorated in what it describes as a "classical style," but which to us was delightfully quirky. The rooms are not large but are very comfortable and clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet-style breakfasts were very good, with a variety of foods and freshly made coffees. With that, we did have two issues: While the bathroom was nicely decorated and equipped, the shower head was either blocked or inadequate and sent only needles of water or a ring of water down with nothing in the middle. This needs to be rectified. And the other problem was that, like many other hotels in Europe, they do not set the air conditioner to cooling mode until they are well into summer, so even though the weather was already very warm when we were there (April), we could only run the fan but not cool the room down. This made for rather hot and uncomfortable nights!
The Tre Vecchi Hotel is located in a perfect spot on Via Indipendenza, the main street of Bologna. Everything is at walking distance: the railway station, the Piazzola market, the towers, many shops, Piazza Maggiore, etc.. It has certainly seen better days, and you can see that it requires some renovation: details give that away. Didn't have breakfast and didn't use their wi-fi so that can't say about that. However, our staying was nice, the room comfortable and overall it is worth the money if you get a good price. Namely, many other options close by.
I stayed here for 3 nights. This is a clean and relatively nice hotel in an excellent location in downtown Bologna. But there are a few things that deserve attention. 1. Room temperature. The heater in the bathroom was always set to the highest level, unaccessible to turn it off, forcing you to open the room window. Going into the bathroom was like going to the sauna. Automatic temperature control is not rocket science in 2017 !! 2. The shower. Probably because of hard water, the shower faucet let only flow "needles" of water. A regular cleaning is required. 3. Bathroom supplies. No refill was done for the shower gel in 3 days. I come to Bologna very frequently. With the enourmous choice of hotels, this will certainly not be my first choice next time...
