This is a beautiful hotel in a spectacular city. The problem was the temperature in the rooms. We went in November and they said there was no air conditioning. Which would have been ok if you could open the windows but our room faced a very busy street that was loud until 3am. Then the trash pickup started by 6am. I️ would stay there again but ask for a room that did not face the street.
This was our second stay at the Grand Majestic. This hotel is just beautiful. The service and food are excellent. The location is great. The staff speaks very good English and are helpful. We hope to return.
Looking at other reviews, I can echo the problems for disabled travellers, though having warned the hotel in advance, at no point could I ever complain about being misled. The door staff were most helpful, what is more when my mini-mobility failed the reception staff went out of their way to hire me a replacement wheelchair. My special thanks go to Marc on the door who was always on hand to carry my wheelchair up the stair, whilst I lumbered up after him (my choice). Marc also gave excellent advice on where to purchase local wines. Our other star was Caterina, our breakfast supervisor, who at other times popped up all over the hotel; amusing and insightful conversation when not otherwise busy. All staff were a delight, with a welcoming “Good morning/day/night” as appropriate. A true quality hotel.
This is a hotel in the grand tradition and style. The public areas are fabulous and bedrooms beautifully appointed. The breakfasts are wonderful and served in style. More than anything the staff are warm and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Would visit Bologna and this hotel again in an instant.
All our needs were efficiently attended to, including dinner recommendations and reservations. The head of housekeeping personally supervised our request for non-feather pillows. The desk saw to our every need. And the breakfast buffet was excellent.
Spent one night here recently. First class all the way, from check in to check out. It faces onto a pedestrian street, but they meet you at the corner to take your luggage. Gorgeous room, huge bath, gold-rimmed television. Extremely comfortable bed. Had drinks in the bar which were excellent and dinner in the restaurant - wonderful. Right in the middle of everything in Bologna, easy walking distance. This place is expensive, but it is worth it in my opinion.
A grand classic hotel fitting the splendor of Bologna. Steps from the Piazza Maggiore and Due Torri. We stayed at the property for four nights to really explore the city. From the moment you walk up the grand carpeted entrance, the best of the hospitality of Bologna awaits...... The front staff and concierge could not have been more friendlier nor accommodating on our first trip to this vital city in north-central Italy. In particular their can’t miss recommendations for lunch and dinner highlighted the best-of-the-best of the local cuisine...... and all within walking distance. As for the infrastructure, after the first night, my wife wanted to change rooms to get more light, and the staff made it happen efficiently and without any question. The room was ornately and formally decorated with a sumptuous king bed, period antique furniture to include a desk, inlaid hardwood floors, long curtains, crown molding, vaulted ceilings, flat screen television, strong wifi, and a impressive marble bath with separate tub and shower. Rooms were large and spotlessly clean. Housekeeping and turn down staff are to be complemented. Rooms were quiet, however, please reserve a higher floor to avoid street noise on Via Del Indipendenzia affecting outward rooms on the hotel frontage. Breakfast in the decorated morning dining room was a treat each morning; made to order with fruit, eggs, breads, and cheese to your liking with attentive service. And please have an evening gin tonic in the bar; excellent people watching of the glitterati at the adjoining tables..... For a high-end property to celebrate the best of Bologna, the Grand Hotel Majestic is the only choice.
A wonderful hotel that we first visited in 1978. This time we only stayed overnight, but wish we could have enjoyed it longer. Wonderful service, beautifully decorated and comfortable accommodations. Our only regret is we couldn't get the same room we occupied 38 years ago.
I can't overstate the genuine helpfulness of the staff at this hotel. We drove to Bologna and the front of the hotel is in a pedestrian area and I am a wheelchair user so had to be as close as I could. We kept getting lost so my husband abandoned the car and make the short walk to the hotel. When he arrived they immediately released a member of staff to help us. A member of staff walked with my husband back to the car, joined us in the car and guided us back to a little street right next to the side of the hotel. He was fantastic. Once we arrived the members of reception were also of a higher standard of kindness than in many hotels. No superficial 'have a nice day' attitude here but it felt like authentic interest and care. We were traveling home from 4 idyllic weeks in a Tuscan villa so were somewhat relaxed and a bit dishevelled, nothing like the other stylish guests. However this didn’t unfaze the staff who treated us with great respect. I use a wheelchair and they showed much understanding throughout our stay. The breakfast buffet was enormous and I’m only sorry I have such a small appetite as everything I tasted was of such a high standard. Needless to say my husband made up for me! The hotel itself is like a palace yet is up to date with fast internet in bedrooms and a TV hidden in what looks like a blanket box at the bottom of the bed. I chose this hotel so that I could roll out of the hotel in my wheelchair straight into the shopping street only yards from the main piazza without any need for a taxi. Given the complexity of the streets in the centre, the location alone made staying here worthwhile. My only regret is that we only stayed 1 night!
Best hotel in bologna, the only hotel 5 stars in the city, reception is very friendly , helpful and speaks English good . Delux Rooms Are not big size , bed is really comfortable but pillows are not much comfortable, it is light . Bathroom is big , all marble , amenities available . Room service is perfect if it isn't made up the room at morning it can be done at night . What is special in this hotel and differs it than others and can't find in others is the location in absolute centre . The negative points are the price is expensive and the style is old , can be better in old style like the furniture , curtains , I've seen old styles hotel but better. The health centre is small . All in all , It's the best in bologna and recommend it.
