This is our first time visiting Bologna. We arrived at the hotel on one of the "T-Days" where main roads are closed to all non-pedestrian traffic, we had to be dropped off in the back alley of the hotel. Luckily, the ever diligent porter Piero was already there waiting for us to help with our luggage. We later found out that he not only makes our trip to the hotel easier, he also makes excellent dining suggestions as we dined at one of the restaurants he recommended and had a blast. The check-in process was swift. We were pleased to find that our room was upgraded to one of the four new junior suites with private balconies over looking the huge Saint Peter's cathedral. These suites are huge with all new bathroom with separate shower, tub and dual vanity. There is also an office area with a desk and a nice spacious sitting area. The bed had a nice bed cover on it when we arrived to make a very nice first impression. Unfortunately, there was an accident involving one of our luggage and a wheel came off. Not knowing what to do, we asked the hotel for help and our porter Luigi was able to fix it. We are super grateful for this quick fix as a broken wheel would have made our journey very difficult. We made sure to utilize the room service as well since the restaurant in the hotel is one of highest rated restaurants in the city, and the room service provided by Tatiana is beyond marvelous. It was a bit tricky to order from the restaurant since there's no menu in our room, so Tatiana had to first deliver the menu to our room and rush back to answer our call for room service. She also made sure to delivery our dessert separately when we were ready to make sure it would arrive fresh. She made our in-room dining experience very memorable. All in all, the hotel staff are excellent and its facility is second to none. There is even a section of ancient Roman road preserved in the basement of the hotel near the breakfast hall. I would choose this hotel as our home base for Bologna on our return trip.

Location, 5 Star Hotel w/ 5 star rooms, common areas, service & oh yes ruins of the ancient road to Rome in the lower level where breakfast was severed. The beauty of this hotel begins when the doorman welcomes you to a very elegant chandelier & lobby. The front desk personnel are very welcoming. The common areas are just so stately. The rooms are equally elegant & the bathrooms incredible (all marble). Nightly turndown service was also a nice touch. You feel as though you are staying in a palace. Breakfast was excellent as well as the staff. You cannot beat this location for walking to all the tourist sites in Bologna. It was a joy to stay here! 5 STAR RATING FOR THIS 5 STAR HOTEL! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL FOR ITS LOCATION, SERVICE & BEAUTY!

My family spent 2 nights here in adjoining Grandluxe Double Rooms and had a wonderful experience. Beautiful classic hotel with excellent service and accommodations with a great location next to the center of the "T-Zone", the restricted traffic city center. Our rooms (#401 & #402) were large and furnished in baroque period furniture. One of the rooms had a private balcony that looked out onto St. Peter's Cathedral, a nice surprise. Also appreciated that the electrical outlets had both Type A (North American/Japan) and Type C (Europe/South America/Asia) sockets- no adapters needed and a small, but nice touch. Highly recommended.

This hotel is tricky getting into and out of. The streets are narrow, there are one way streets, and GPS does not work (trust me on this). On weekends, the street in front of the hotel is pedestrian only. We made a wrong turn and ended up in a dead end street next to a restaurant. The hotel sent a staff member out to not only help us with directions, but backed the car out himself. The location of the hotel is spot on - just a block from the main piazza. This is just as the name suggests - a grand hotel.

The Grand Hotel Magestic Bologna was a surprise 2nd place favorite, favorite hotel and favorite destination for Italy, 2nd to the Tuscan Countryside because I am a country girl. This was the best

Located centrally for resturants markets and walking the hotel has lots of old world charm. Wonderful staff very professional and efficient make the stay one to remember. Spacious room with well equipped bathroom all very clean. Bed linen of the highest quality and changed daily. Breakfast serve in the buffet format with a wonderful choice of many fresh foods. I could not fault the breakfast staff their attention to detail was consistent and carried out with in a hospitable atmosphere. My congratulations to the management team. Just short of 5 stars due to the inconsistency of the internet and room services prices 40 pounds for one toasted cheese sandwich and two teas! Would return and recommend.

Ok just 2nd night but can’t wait to praise the excellent location, tremendously modern convenience combined with old world elegance & over the top service of Gia Baglioni! They are in a small class of great old hotel traditions like Maria Christiana - San Sebastián, Sofitel Lisbon, & New York Palace Budapest. The Concierge service alone is worth its weight in gold for first timers in Bologna! Thank you Grand Hotel Majestic staff for making us count the days to our return long before we are gone, and for making our first trip to Bologna “Grand!” Italy travelers if you are going to splurge anywhere new in Italy,Do It Here! Gia Bologna is your key to an amazingly underrated part of Italy!

We had a lovely renovated room. Beautiful bedroom and a newly appointed bathroom. The location was great. Everything of note was in walking distance. The breakfast staff was amazing. After one day they remembered our coffee orders. A great stay!!!

Virtual perfection! Superb classically and luxuriously appointed rooms, a magnificent restaurant with world class cuisine and extraordinary wine cellar, a beautiful elegant but comfortable bar, wonderfully responsive professional personnel who anticipated and happily met every need (probably the finest staff we have ever encountered in our many stays in Italy’s finest hotels) , all in a historic venue reminiscent of a palace and located in the very center of everything! It simply could not have been better. I would give it 6 stars if I could. Bravo!

A very luxurious hotel that is centrally located in Bologna. We were upgraded to a junior suite, which was spacious and well appointed. All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The tours that the hotel arranged for us were wonderful and very informative. Food at the restaurant was good and service was top notch. Bar drinks are a bit expensive but the service and drinks were excellent. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in Bologna.
