Excellent people, service and location. I will recomend this hotel with my closed eyes.
We were there for the holidays in a family trip, with our two kids for the new year celebration. After looking some time over the internet, we chose Sonesta over Estelar La Fontana, one in front of the other. The hotel is very nice, modern and has a friendly and professional service personnel. For us, it was really well situated, because on our first day we visited Monserrate in the south and the Salt Cathedral in Zipaquira, as well as the Jaime Duque amusement park, both of them outside from the north part of the city. The city was only for the four of us because the streets were empty on the first day of the year, so we could move easily through the whole town. We ended our day in the 93th street park having a coffee at Starbucks (not the best one, like my son says). On our second day we went to Salitre Mágico amusement park and the kids really enjoyed the attractions. Our room window was in front of Exito (a 24 Hours store) and it was very quiet even with the 15th Avenue traffic there. Breakfast buffet is really good. Lots of fresh fruits (watermelon, pineapple, apple, papaya & melon), bread, arepas, ham and cheese, just made waffles and juices (orange, banana, carrot, strawberry). Free parking was in the underground floor. This is the place to fix by the hotel administration, because the hotel elevator entrance is under maintenance and reforms and it smells like a farm. For suggestion please take the elevator that takes you to Friday's, Sandwich Cubano and Archie's restaurants, just beside the hotel, under the same building and look for the lobby. Next time we will consider coming back to the Sonesta Hotel when visiting Bogota for business and vacation.
Where to start..... I arrive to this hotel at 9PM only to find out that they had received my reservation through [...]but did not receive payment. Instead of them calling [...]and dealing with them I sat in the lobby until 12AM getting everything straightend out. The hotel itself looks great, decent looking rooms. As I walked in the room i was relieved to see how nice it was; until I walked into the bath room. I lifted the seat and noticed that there were urine stains on the seat from whom ever was there previously. I think this was the first time in my life where I felt I had to wear shower shoes in the bathroom. I left out of to town and came back with a friend only to find out they would charge me an extra $35 to let her come up to the room. I also got a wake up call at 05AM that I did not ask for and when I cheked out I had received charges that I had not incurred. The service in this place was a nightmare and the rooms are paper thin so you can hear everything going on in the other rooms and the hall way. Id say if the management was replaced this place wouldnt be to bad. But overall if you like to sleep and want to avoid headackes dont book this hotel.
