Grandfather`s Backside 2BR/2BA Cabin with Loft Near Blowing Rock

This cozy two-bedroom two-bath rustic cabin plus loft is located in a wooded setting off Highway 221 South about 10-15 minutes from Blowing Rock.  The cabin is sure to provide you with a perfect home base for your mountain vacation, whether you like the shops and restaurants in downtown Blowing Rock, hiking, driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, or simply relaxing.

An open family room features a new, wall-mounted smart TV with Spectrum Streaming, wood floors, and a freestanding gas fireplace. The living area opens into a fully equipped kitchen with a dining table that provides seating for three with space for four at the kitchen bar.  Cabin décor, tongue-and-groove paneling, and newly insulated ceiling create a welcoming atmosphere in this cozy cabin.   Although the cabin has a central AC/heat system if you prefer, the screened windows and two screen doors will allow you to enjoy the cool mountain air.

On the main floor, at the end of the hall, one bedroom has a queen bed, while a second bedroom offers a twin bed, providing plenty of sleeping space.  A hallway bathroom and a laundry closet are accessible by all.

Upstairs, the large master loft offers a queen-sized bed and large bathroom, exposed rafters, beautiful tongue-and-groove paneling, and a flat-screen TV.  You’ll love unwinding in the corner soaking tub.

The covered front porch runs the length of the house, provides a stainless propane grill, and rockers for comfortable seating, and has wonderful partial views of Grandfather Mountain once the leaves have fallen for the year. Walk outside through attractive landscaping on a path to the back deck or through the kitchen door into wooded privacy.  Enjoy the flat yard or roast marshmallows around the fire pit.

The cabin is located in an older residential area, not a planned or gated community.

It was cozy but dirty. The biggest issue was that no one, even the emergency number, would contact us. We were locked out and no one would call us even though it was snowing.

Blue Ridge cabin with beautiful views

We had a great time in this cabin. The kitchen was supplied nicely with just about everything we needed. However, we were all disappointed with the bathrooms situation. We expected to have our own bathrooms, but with only one shower, we had to share the shower. The shower curtain was filthy, the bottom was covered in mold and mildew. The sink drain in the downstairs bathroom was very slow, and there was always standing water when you brushed your teeth. There were a few cobwebs, and the downstairs bedroom needed new window shades. We had to hang a sheet for privacy. The back door had no shade at all. The cabin needed some updates and the washer was set on light, so I am not sure how clean our sheets or towels really were. The cold air return vent was covered in dust, hopefully someone noticed the clean spot where we wiped the dust away. Despite all this, we had a great time and I would go back, but I would probably clean myself if I had the time. The location was so close to the Blue Ridge and that was great cause 221 was really curvy and kind of made the people in the backseat sick at times. For the price we paid for this week, I really expected the place to be a tad cleaner.

Great cabin in a beautiful location!!

The cabin was easy to find and in a great location. We hiked, shopped, went sightseeing and had a great time!! The cabin had everything we needed and was clean and spacious for 3 adults. The area was safe, quiet, private and we had no concerns or complaints!! It’s very close to the parkway with many many hiking trails!!

Fun cabin near Blowing Rock

This 3 BR cabin is very private at the end of a gravel road between Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain very near Blue Ridge parkway. It has a great back porch with rocking chairs and Mountain View and well-maintained big front yard with fire pit. The cabin was clean, comfortable and had all the necessities. The neighborhood is mixed and we found some trash discarded just beyond the property.

Everything was perfect!

Loved the home all was great. The location was private but close enough to Blowing Rock to have all of the needed. We enjoyed the home being close to the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance as we love to explore, hike and new outside adventures. We will be back as we did leave early as we were in a large snow storm path. Unfortunately we didn't have any extra days reserved and feared being snowed in and not being able to travel. This was the only reason we left early had we planned more days it would have been the best seeing the snow in the beautiful mountains of NC.

Lare October Grandfather's Backside

Overall experience was very positive. Cabin is in a scenic location close to blowing rock and the blue ridge parkway. Amazing views driving to and from the cabin each day. Went with this specific cabin for the price point and proximity to the trailheads nearby. Blowing rock is great way to spend time as a family. Highly recommend Blowing rock brewery for lunch/dinner.

Cute Little Hideaway

We enjoyed our stay; the location was great and the cabin was so cute and very clean. My only complaint was that the beds are extremely hard and make a lot of noise when you move. My husband was able to get comfortable in the bed, however I ended up sleeping on the love seat all week. Another suggestion; if you allow 5 people total, there should be seating in the living room for 5 people. While we only needed seating for two people, it would have made for a much more comfortable stay if the love seat had been a full couch.
