The location is excellent and the staff is exceptional. The reason I rated this good, not great, is the rooms are very small and the "updates" really only apply to the bathrooms (which were nice).
My husband and I stayed for one night mid-week. For the exorbitant price paid ($450 per night) I would not recommend this hotel. Though it is apparently renovated they decided not to level out the floors so there is a huge slant from one side of the room to the other side of the room. The doors lock with metal keys which you have to carry around. There is no proper restaurant at the hotel for breakfast or for dinner. Finally, the rooms are not soundproof at all, so one clearly hears everything happening in the hallways and in other rooms. Lastly, I believe they had forgotten to paint the room we were in because we could see all the plaster on the walls - if this was intentional I highly suggest getting another interior designer.
really small, room was not as advertised. no staff after certain hours in the evening
First the veiw from anywhere on the property was breathtaking the staff work as a team to make sure you had everything you need the chef Jimmy couldn't be. More hospitable the bartender Matt is one of the hardest workers I ever seen very nice to everyone downfall was the rooms very small but clean no where to put your clothes
We have stayed at other Lark Hotel Properties and unfortunately the service was not up to par at the Block Island Beach House. Our room was not cleaned daily ie-clean towels, trash cans not emptied. We went to the outdoor bar on the deckone evening and there was no bartender. We waited 10 minutes after someone told us they would get someone. I understand that it is now “off season” however ...
Gorgeous setting on the east beach. The patio with hanging lights creates a relaxing, beach atmosphere. Staff were helpful and great at hosts. Unfortunately we had to wait until 4 pm to get into our room due to the amount of time it took to clean them. “3 o’clock check in guarantee” did not happen. But the room was very clean and quaint with a perfect ocean view. The waterfall shower directly above and barn style sinks were a nice touch. Overall, I’d say the price matched the experience and we had a very enjoyable visit. I highly recommend; only be sure to wear your bathing suit upon arrival because you may want some beach time while waiting for them to prepare the room.
