Carmel was a delight!! Brought me a tea in her sitting room area when everyone else was still getting ready. Made us a wonderful breakfast prior to heading out. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Loved being in the farmhouse setting with the open pastures and the cows within sight. Would recommend this place to anyone staying in the Birr area.
Spotlessly clean and comfortable, Very welcoming and helpful hostess. Beautiful area with good quality nearby restaurants and well-placed for trips in and around Birr and the centre of Ireland. Safe parking area and lovely full Irish Breakfast each day! Dont miss a visit to Birr Castle - Stunning!
My husband and I stayed at The Ring Farmhouse last night while we are in Ireland for our honeymoon. Carmel was so welcoming and made us feel nice and comfortable! The room was nice and clean and breakfast was delicious! We would definitely stay here again!
Lovely Family Run BnB. Very friendly service check in was seamless, Excellent Breakfast served in a country style kitchen with view of the fields. Even the cows joined us . Spotless Rooms comfortable beds. Hot Showers. Home from Home
Not one thing can be faulted, this place is a real home from home. Excellent powerful shower and lovely comfortable bed and pillows. Breakfast was fresh and generous. Carmel is also a great host. See you again.
Stayed here recently on a Friday night, was welcomed by Carmel and John who showed us to our en-suite room which was spotlessly clean. The room very comfortable and included a shower complete with shampoo, conditioner, soap and shower gel. When we enquired about a taxi to take us into town for the night, they insisted in dropping us in themselves. The next morning breakfast was excellent and Carmel provided a generous supply of freshly made wheaten bread and scones along with a full Irish breakfast. There was also a selection of cereal, fruit, yogurt to help yourself to. Freshly made coffee completed this outstanding breakfast. We would certainly recommend this B&B and would like to stay again if visiting the area. Thanks Carmel and John for a great visit.
We stayed here while attending a wedding in Gloster House. The room was very clean and functional. The proprietors were both very hospitable and welcoming and the rate offered was very affordable. My favourite thing about our stay was the breakfast. Too often B&Bs skimp on breakfast but our hosts were very generous. We had delicious berries with organic yogurt, barista standard coffees, good quality orange juice and delicious hot breakfasts cooked to order
Carmel & John were wonderful hosts at the Ring Farmhouse!! Pleasant, comfy rooms, a tasty and hearty Irish breakfast, all in a rural setting right at the edge of town. Raising Friesian cattle can be a full time job, but John and Carmel top it off by delivering one of the best bargains in BnB we found on our 3-week tour of Ireland. We were warmly greeted, shown around the home, and made thoroughly welcome. Carmel recommended a local restaurant / pub (The Thatch) or our evening meal and suggested several nearby sights for us to experience - far more than we could accommodate, but we filled our leisure time most productively. We enjoy seeing birds not common to North America, and were able to see & identify several around the farmyard.- a nice unexpected treat. The 'Ring' in "Ring Farmhouse" seems to have a somewhat ancient origin, possibly associated with a long-ago baronial estate? Next trip to Ireland, we'll plan more nights at the Ring Farmhouse, and Birr ; 3 was not enough.
We booked the "twin" room on a girlfriend driving tour of Ireland. Had a bit of trouble finding the place, but that has more to do with relying on gps instead of being prepared with a true map. The place is just as promised, and our ensuite room was spotless. Carmel offered breakfast as early as 8, and the table was set with jam, marmalade, butter, and the yummiest fresh (warm!) scones on the planet. As soon as we sat down, our hostess brought us tea (or coffee) and took our requests for toast, eggs, pork sausage, and bacon. Strawberries, yogurt, cereals, hot cocoa, and orange juice were on a nearby DIY table. Carmel freshened our room when we were out, and provided washcloths- which is unusual in Europe. We had control of an in-room radiator, plus our bathroom had both a fan and a heater. If you need a realistic idea of how long it takes to drive somewhere and accomplish something, Carmel is your girl! She is a fun combination of no-nonsense and mischievous. We loved her!
A great base for experiencing the bucolic delights of Birr. I stayed here for a night during the week, and it was quite quiet. The owner was very polite and happy to help with my questions about the area (and an excellent cook). The building is on the site of a retired dairy farm, which was interesting to look around (there are still some cattle in the surrounding fields). My room was spotless, had an en suite, and was exactly as appeared in the photos. It's worth getting up early to watch the sunrise!
