I had attended a wedding here previously and couldn't wait to return but a few things were very disappointing Arrival check in was good The spread for the wedding arrival was very good and nice selection At the wedding a couple of tables had to move 3-4 times from their table between mix up in table lay out and numbers which was unfair on guests and disturbed other guests- this was unprofessional Starters and mains were good Soup was amazing Desert was very very poor I had strawberries and ice cream very poorly displayed and looked very messy on the plate and Ice cream was half a scoop Evening food was good selection and presented well It looked as if a manager was over seeing the service and eating a two scoop Ice cream cone again felt very professional Pool was lovely Breakfast and service very poor I asked for gluten free toast - received half done - gave it back asked for more In the interim I had to ask for toast three times for my husband ! Full Irish more like poor or half Irish- 1 sausage 1 rasher 1 egg scoop of beans and mushrooms!!

I never write a review but on this occasion I feel I have to.. We recently stayed for two nights in the hotel. From the day I made the booking with the reservation staff from arrival to departure I can't fault the hotel. They made me, my husband and children feel at home and nothing was a problem.. When we asked for certain foods for the children that were not on the menu there was never a problem, in other hotel/restaurant I would get ah we don't do that or not at this time.... there was beans on toast at any time here.. Even in the middle of serving a tour, a wedding and other restaurant guest.. in so thank you to all the staff, reservation, reception, bar/restaurant, kitchen, chefs, room services and pool attendances, management and supervisors for making our holiday enjoyable and stress free..

We attended a friends wedding here a few days ago and from beginning to end could not fault this hotel! Staff were all lovely and very helpful and the food was amazing. We had a hot buffet on arrival with fab mini bites such as chicken soup served in egg shells in egg cups - (wow) - beautifully decorated wedding reception - beautiful food with huge portions - Sea Bass was first class and my husband had beef which was fab also - staff were very accommodating for special dietary needs - the bedroom was spacious and nicely decorated and spotless with a lovely bathroom - hot showers what more can you ask for? The swimming pool is lovely and bright and there was a a large play/activity room for kids - our kids would have loved it. The breakfast was excellent with loads of choice for me as I cannot eat bread or cereals - they had jars of all the different nuts and seeds and cranberries/sultanas and bowls of fruit salads and fruits and natural yoghurt - cold meat and Nutella for kids ( my kids would love you for that too)thank you for making the effort!!but the walled gardens were the icing on the cake and lovingly manicured and maintained with fruit trees and vines and tree swings a gazebo and lots more! This hotel was a joy to stay in and I wish I had brought my children and had more time to enjoy all this hotel had to offer! Critics will always find chips in paintwork wherever they go but this hotel tries so hard to offer a guest a happy and comfortable stay and make us feel welcome and that's what makes a hotel in my opinion! Well done and keep up the good work!

Visited twice recently. On the second occasion we ordered tea and a coffee to which it arrived on a tray with a filthy tea cloth under the tea pot and saucers. We complained about it and received no apology. They seen little wrong with the complaint. A fresh pot of tea arrived this time with no tray and the waitress carrying cups and jug with her fingers inside of them. Most definitely won't be back to this hotel. Poor service for a "4 star" hotel

As a self-confessed townies, we do accept that our standards can be on the high side but when we read the reviews and looked at the pictures, we were optimistic. A close friend was getting married at the hotel and naturally spirits were high. Unfortunately, this didn't last as the moment we arrived, I was presented with a bill to pay that was €100 more than my friends. Naturally I assumed that would equal a better room, turns out what it actually means is an additional single pop up bed in the corner of the room and a charming view of the air conditioning units on the roof. I think the overarching problem with this place was not the frills but the basics. For e.g. The shower curtain, a simple and cheap glass one would have sufficed, instead there is a stained and discoloured frilly one. As a wedding venue, you expect a working iron. A light touch of the ironing board had it collapse in pieces. Then, new ironing board provided, the iron starts leaking water and lime scale all over our shirts. TV remote - just stopped working, 4 decaf coffee sachets and 1 regular one, stains on the carpet and room keys stopping working three times are just a few of the issues experienced here. Then we have the breakfast - as it is included, I tend to make some allowance but the Full Irish was inedible - five of the others guests on my table agreed. I did wonder if it was just that but my partner ordered salmon and eggs and the salmon appeared as though it had been there for days. The second day, my partners order never came and the waitress' response was 'there's a spare Full Irish if you want it?' This hotel has two redeeming factors and quite frankly the only reason I have rated it two. 1. The staff- to be fair, every grumble we had (and there were a lot) the staff were very friendly and quick to try and fix the problem including ironing our shirts for us. The receptionists in particular were very friendly. 2. The wedding functions - as we said, we were there for the wedding and they did that very well. The waiting reception area was set up lovely with nice food and drink and the ballroom was beautifully decorated. The outside and front areas of the hotel are clearly where the money is spent. So if you want good wedding photos and a classy brochure, then it's great - for all your guests - not so much.

Very dated hotel. Bedroom had tiles missing in the shower, shower rail broken, no remote for tv and stains on the carpet. Terrible sound proofing. Could hear the band downstairs until 2am. No soft closures on doors so they all banged outside our bedroom. Only four coat hangers. Kettle screwed to the counter top. No waste bin in the room. Totally unimpressed and wont be going here again

Called here tonight at 7pm hoping to grab a quick main course in the Bar. Waitress took the order at 7.10, I decided to enquire at 7.45 when I was likely to receive my meal. A lady at the Bar who seemed to be in charge disappeared and then sent a waitress out to explain that the order was on the till but not in the Kitchen. It would take another 5-10 mins. At this stage I needed to be on my way, left hungry and annoyed. No sign of Manager type at this stage, she disappeared in the back, possibly never to return like my order.

Stayed here for a friends wedding and I have to say it was fantastic. Food was second to none and the service was great. Took us a little while to get our food and the tables who got theirs first were finished by the time we got ours. However it's a wedding we were chatting and sipping on the wine so there was no complaints and the staff apologised for the delay. The afters too was amazing although I didn't like the look of the poor dead pig on the table, but I still tasted it and it was gorgeous. We stayed the night and the room was a little pricey at €140 for an extremely basic small room but comfortable all the same. Breakfast was great with a nice selection of cereals, fruit and yogurts followed by a hot breakfast. The hotel itself was spotless with an overall lovely atmosphere. Would like to come back for bar food and see what that is like. Thanks for a great night!!

We stayed in the County arms for 1 night last week with our 2 children (aged 2 and 4). It was great value for our room which although is not luxury was clean and spacious. The novelty of bunk beds was such a delight to the kids. There is a beautiful walled garden just off the dining room and we enjoyed a quiet drink while the kids watched a movie(supervised by lovely staff member...Aisling?? sorry cannot remember name) on the terrace overlooking this. The breakfast the next morning was 5 star. Great cereals and fruit and breakfast made to order. Our food the previous night was also very good. All in all a lovely stay.

During a rest break taken at the County Arms Hotel on our tour, our group was treated to tea and cookies (including ginger snaps - my favorite) by the hotel staff. Unfortunately, when our group left, I left behind my purse on the comfy couches in the lobby. I didn't realize my mistake until we were well on the road to Galway. Unable to turn back, a call to the hotel recovered the purse and worked with the staff (Mary and one other individual) to have the purse mailed to our hotel in Dublin. The purse arrived just before we did with its contents intact. The staff was extremely helpful in locating and sending the purse - to include calling us several time to let us know how they could post it and providing tracking numbers. I greatly appreciate the help of staff in getting my purse returned so quickly. And the cookies were great too!
