I had gone for the Mississippi Gulf coast half marathon. The phone in the room was not working. The day before the race I asked front desk staff is the hotel provides a shuttle to the start line and they said yes. I talked to other runners and they had conflicting views on whether a shuttle was provided on the day of the race. In the evening around 7pm on Saturday I called the front desk to confirm, the receptionist was rude and said we don't have anything to do with the race you should contact the race itself and the hotel doesn't provide a shuttle. I told her they shouldn't be conflicting messages from day shift to evening shift on whether a shuttle is provided she said she can't help me so she is going to transfer me to her manager. I got mad and hang up. I booked an Uber for the race. On the day of the race as I was going to the Uber, there was a shuttle bus waiting to pick up runners. My question is if the hotel is a host hotel, why don't you inform your staff that you are a host hotel and there is transportation day of the race? There was no breakfast for runners day of the race before the race. I would have gladly paid for breakfast. Needless to say please if you are a runner like me, don't book this hotel.
