We were staying for a wedding in Getxo. The hotel is in a great location overlooking the beach and within walking distance up the nearby staircase or the funicular to the town centre and thence, if wished, to the Metro to Bilbao. The modern exterior hides a contemporary- arty décor inside, which is fun, but probably not everyone's taste, with signage in three languages, Basque, Spanish and English. The staff were very friendly and helpful and check-in and check-out were very smooth. The only criticism is that the décor was showing its age with a little wear in some places, but that didn't spoil our enjoyment and I am probably being over-critical. A nice touch was the personal welcome on the bathroom mirror. Was this done in lipstick? There was an excellent buffet breakfast in the breakfast area overlooking the beach, with cereals, a good cold selection and a reasonable hot selection, which changed daily, breads and pastries. There were healthy juices which also changed daily, to give the health-conscious a kick for the day. Excellenf free wifi and bicycles were also available for guests to use - more hotels should do this. If I was staying again in a hotel in Getxo, I would definitely refurn here.

My wife and I have stayed twice at other nearby hotels. The Petit Palace Tamarises was a much better experience. Rooms were very clean and personnel was very forthcoming to accommodate our special needs. Maria at the front desk was also very helpful with several valuable suggestion. The room had a marvelous beach view and the beach itself was a joy, first day full sun and second day in rain. The hotel had a very large umbrella and the beautiful beach promenade was just as much a wonderful an experience in the rain.

We stayed for 4 nights at Petit Palace Tamarises. We booked a special offer so were only allocated 2 rather small rooms, which however was fine as we occupied each room with one person only. They might be a tad too small if you stay with two people. Rooms otherwise very comfy. Good beds and really good bath room and a fantastic shower with massive water pressure. Breakfast was excellent. Plenty of choices of cheeses, ham, jams , cereals and fresh fruits and juices. The hotel itself has no bar but integrated in the building is the Tamarises Cafe / Bar which has TV Screens and a big type of tent that functions as restaurant as well as smoking area. The bar serves an excellent selection of Tapas and is reasonably priced. To reach Bilbao by Metro is easy , however due to the hilly landscape a bit of a walk to get to the Metro Station. I would say - its a good 20 minute walk uphill and then downhill.. However nothing unusual in Algorta and is was expected ( we know Algorta very well ).Staff was very friendly and helpful ( as usual I forgot the charger for my Ipad and they provided one ). We would certainly come back again, but as we have family in Algorta we usually do not need a Hotel ( this stay was an exception ).

Just spent couple of nights at the hotel. It was a lovely hotel right on the seafront with an wonderfully long promenade walk...amazing way to experience the area and very popular with the locals. The reception and breakfast room staff were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were modern and immaculate (loved the shower). The only slight downside was that there were no english speaking or news channels on the television. But I had my tablet and the WIFI was very good so didn't mind to much. Would recommend the hotels to friends who are going to the area on holiday.

We stayed at this hotel for one night only but we delighted with the friendly service and happy people. Especially Ursula at the breakfast who did a great job in getting all ready and very tasty it was too.

The hotel is quite unique. Well located next to beach with wonderful long promenade for walks and bike riding and walking distance to the old village. Our rooms were quite small facing out back of the hotel with no view but perfectly adequate for one night. The rooms looking to the beach looked good. En suite bathrooms are very good and they've thought of lots of little comfort details. The breakfast buffet was exceptional with lots of healthy choices. We noticed that dogs are allowed to stay here too which is good to know for future reference and to advise friends. Getxo was a real surprise too - reminded us of Falmouth in UK, with very established houses and streets, wonderful walking and cycling paths and a large beach which was swept each morning.

Stayed one night at this rather quirky hotel before ferry home.Bed comfortable and room good size as meant for disabled travellers. However the room had a odour of drains most apparent when opening the bathroom window. The bedside flexi lights were well used and therefore had lost the ability to be of much use.The overhead sensor was intrusive and flashed brightly so distracting sleep.Redeeming feature was the guy on reception who was very friendly and helpful.

Very nicely located hotel overlooking beach with easy on street parking outside or hotel car park 13 euros per day. Hotel markets itself as a boutique hotel, but in my opinion the design is a bit tired and confused, think Dali meets Thunderbirds. Seperate bar and restaurant next door perfectly adequate. If you are catching an early ferry back to Portsmouth leave at least 30 minutes to get there to avoid stress.

Room was smallish and the AC did not seem to work. But anyway very good value for money and location is great as well as the service and breakfast. I will stay definitely on my next stay also here. Also nice walk away from the cliffs (4km)

Excellently located in the walking distance from nearly anywhere in Getxo, close enough to the port to enjoy the entertainments, but not too close to suffer from noise and smell. Very friendly and thoughtful stuff, inexpensive but efficient hardware. Free bikes to rent, well maintained too, nice herbal tea at the reception, and a lot of little niceties coming as a surprise.
