WARNING! If you are traveling by car be aware, about 1/3 of my stay bill was for parking! Otherwise, decently located, closed to Metro, buses and Tranvía stops that you can take to the “Old Town” or you can walk about 35 minutes. We loved using the Tranvía; took us everywhere we wanted to go for about 3€ round trip. Hotel room was clean and spacious. We can stay here again (without a car).
Great location, hotel is easy to find and getting around the city is also easy. The room was nice, clean and spacious. Unfortunately the windows don’t block the sound from all the noise outside which makes it hard to sleep. The breakfast definitely has a lot of room for improvement especially when your charging people for it. Also the private carpark is extremely tight.
So many rooms were already booked for the Holy Week, that we considered ourselves fortunate to find this room. Because we were traveling as a group of three, we had booked an executive room - with a roll away bed. But when we arrived, none were available. There was no argument or discussion. Two rooms were made available at our confirmed price. The rooms we had were modern, beautiful, and immaculate! Each room had two good sized beds, TV, and a huge bathroom - with toilet, bidet, and double shower heads (rain shower). The lights next to the bed had small telescopic reading lights. We were concerned about parking on the street, so we paid 20E to park in the underground garage. With the number of tourists in Bilbao for the weekend, it was a good choice. Note, the garage entrance serves more than one parking area. The hotel parking is half way down the ramp to the left. (NOT all the way down!) To access our rooms, we had to return by elevator to the hotel lobby, then take a second elevator to our room. None of this had been explained to us at the front desk. We did notice that the hotel tries to hire the disabled - as much as 40%. The young lady that checked us in at the front desk, had a sticker that declared her as visually impaired. Other than not mentioning the garage details, we found that she was quite capable and efficient in handling our reservation. We were in the ideal location to walk to the Guggenheim, the Art District and River Walk, as well as the cathedral, shopping, and several fabulous restaurants. We did notice some renovation being done - specifically scaffolding outside of our rooms. But it did not interfere with our stay at all. The lobby and public areas were beautiful and modern. We would CERTAINLY stay here again.
Short stay for one night in a comfortable hotel, in a good location. However, the experience was just ok because check in procedure was extremely slow and on-going reforms kept some areas in the hotel messy
This is the worst night I ever had on a hotel. If you do not want to fund thieves, don't go go that hotel. What happened? A mistake lead me to have a booking in this hotel. But it's really far from where I work. So I asked, after Ilunion policy allows, for a cancellation. Hotels in Bilbao that day were not even half full. Hotel manager was not able to go out of a rule made against abuse to serve their customer and forced me to stay in their hotel, forcing me to a long return journey from and back to work. I'm coming quite frequently to Bilbao and it's the first time I am treated like this. I still wonder what the benefit is for a brand to force customers to buy, especially when their purpose is to help people enjoy a good stay far from home.
The hotel is located next to the San Mames football stadium, metro stop and bus station, in a modern part of the city. Its about a 15-20 minute walk from the Guggenheim museum. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area. Interesting fact about the Ilunion group (and one of the reasons I chose it over other hotels in the area), they are owned by a large Spanish charity for the disabled and around 40% of their employees have disabilities. About the hotel: It's being renovated, but from what I saw, the renovation looks great. Entrance hall is modern and cool, with a large reception area, restaurant and bar. The bar serves a nice selection of pintxos and the staff are excellent - very polite and with a great sense of humor. Check in was efficient, I asked for a quiet room and was given a room on the 10th floor. These rooms had not been renovated however are spacious, spotlessly clean and very quiet (thanks to the extra door that divides the bedroom area from the entrance area. Bathroom is spacious and there was a good selection of toiletries provided. I slept like a baby, the bed was comfortable and the room temperature was easy to control. Thanks again to all the staff for their excellent customer service and for maintaining quiet and cleanliness despite major works going on.
The hotel is undergoing a lot of reconstructive restoration. There is a lot of Rebar showing in the Foyer. We were unable to get a parking spot which was a little annoying. The public car park was not that far.really. The room was very spacious and comfortable with a good temperature. The floorboards in Room above were very noisy especially at.1.30 in the morning. Lady on the desk took time to explain things clearly. Andoni in the bar was very helpful explaining local food.
Close to the subway, tram and buses. Fotball stadium just a couple of minutes to walk. Free fast WiFi. Parking and breakfast available at a fee. Mattress and pillows very good. Large room with AC and safety box.
This hotel should be magnificent. It looks good, it is next to the football stadium, five minutes from the bus station on foot and about 15 minutes from the Guggenheim. Reception staff were largely helpful and indulged my attempts at Spanish. It was expensive, so I expected a lot more than I got. However, it was August, but there was no room service, despite there being a prominent menu in the room. I wasn't keen to eat alone in the hotel restaurant so did not get food upon arrival on my first evAnd the wifi didn't work because they insisted on using my surname as my password, which they misspelt. I only went for breakfast one day and couldn't find waiting staff to help me or take my order. I left being overall disappointed. I can't therefore say that I would go back, as I suspect you can get more for your money elsewhere.
This hotel was the worst place I have ever experienced , having parked beneath the hotel and could not have used their tiny lift , after a panic I managed to find a door out ( thank god) I went to reception to tell them I don't like lifts , where the rude receptionist smirkingly put me on the 11th floor , the room was clean , but the windows opened wide like a door which freaked me out for how high we were , couldn't wait to leave the next morning
