Overlooking the river Arac, our gite has a fully equipped kitchen, two pretty double bedrooms and a comfortable sitting room. French windows open onto a private garden and al fresco dining area, where the only sounds to disturb you are of the river flowing gently by, birdsong and evening crickets. We have a swimming pool, picnic area with bbq, a river terrace and a safe playground for children. We are based in the Regional Natural Park of Ariege so are surrounded by beautiful and unspoiled countryside which is a fantastic backdrop for the many activities enjoyed in the area. Walking, horse riding, kayaking, caving and cycling are all pursuits you can take advantage of. Set within the large gardens of Maison Esmeralda, Gite Esmeralda is an ideal location from which to explore the many sights and towns popular in the region. Toulouse is just an hour and a half away and the towns of Foix and Mirepoix, with its idyllic medieval centre are also nearby. A very popular Prehistoric park, many well known prehistoric caves and even an underground river boat ride also make for great days out.

nice place

nice apartment near a small river in a rural mountain region. Good support from the Mike who was renting the place. Lots of information on what to do in the region present. We liked the hiking in the surrounding.

Ontzettend netjes en super aardige eigenaar

We hebben genoten van onze vakantie. Prachtige omgeving. Behulpzame en attente eigenaar. WIFI was niet altijd even stabiel. Voor ons geen probleem maar voor onze tienerdochters meer. De bedden waren niet heel comfortabel, voor ons geen probleem, maar iemand met rugklachten misschien handig om rekening mee te houden?

Wonderful gite with lovely hosts

We were here in early august 2021 and enjoyed the place tremendously. Right next to the river in a lovely garden, with our own private space. The hosts were very welcoming, giving us all the information we needed but also giving us our privacy. We will definately be coming back here someday!!

Retro-Charme für Individualisten und Naturfreunde

Wir hatten eine tolle Woche in dem Häuschen von Familie Redmonds. Es ist liebevoll und individuell eingerichtet, inklusive Bettwäsche und Handtücher. Das idyllische Grundstück bietet mehrere Gelegenheiten zum draußen essen, hat Zugang zum Fluss und Schaukeln für die Kinder. Außerdem nutzen unsere Kinder den großzügigen, erfrischenden Pool ausgiebig, da es sehr warm war. Da wir selber keine Haustiere haben, war es für unsere Mädchen eine große Freude, nach drüben gehen zu dürfen, um mit Hund und dem süßen Kater zu spielen. Die Vermieter sind hilfsbereit, unkompliziert und sprechen Englisch und sogar etwas Deutsch!! Praktischerweise fanden wir in der Wohnung sämtliche Informationen für alle möglichen Wanderungen und Aktivitäten der Umgebung. Vielen Dank nochmal an Familie Redmonds! Fam. Förster aus Weimar

heureusement que le site e´tait très beau... parce que le reste...

- les photos de la maison paraissent bcp plus belles qu´en réalité. Rien à voir en arrivant. -Ce n´est pas une maison entièrement privée, sinon qu´ell est dans la propiété d´une autre maison. Donc pas de privacité. -Personne ne nous a prévenu qu´il y avait un chien. Nous, par contre, avions bien dit que nous y allions avec les notres. Ce fût un problème puisque les notres ne tolèrent pas bien d´autres chiens. -La maison sentait très fort car elle n´avait pas été ventilée et de plus les cendres de la chaudière non nettoyées. Tout le monde sentait le fumé. -pas possible d´utiliser la piscine pendant notre séjour, L´eau était bcp trop sale. -etc etc etc
