Lovely Pub-hotel

Rooms really lovely. Location good close to Bicester. Pub also great. Cute village. You’ll need a car or be happy to get taxis.

The Lion is a traditional pub/hotel in a lovely quiet village. The staff are very pleasant and helpful, food is excellent, rooms are spacious and clean with tea and coffee facilities. We will return here and I recommend staying here.

Really surprised by how nice this was. Gorgeous pub and really nice rooms in a separate building. Standard of food is so unbelievably high! Make sure you come here for dinner too

I have stayed at the Lion Wendlebury previously and have no complaint about it. Room is spacious and water pressure is good. Wonderful stay for visiting Bicester Village.

Superior Room/Box room

Hotel reception is in the pub, which is a little awkward on a Friday night with bags. We booked a superior room but was put in a very small superior room with a small box window which made it dark. The en-suite bathroom had a skylight window that was covered in bird poo and overlooked our privacy. We left out to eat elsewhere as we had missed the 9pm deadline in the pub for food. Arriving back to the room later that night, it had a sewage smell. The superior bed is 2 beds bolted together with separate mattresses so we kept rolling into the middle which felt like a hole. An uncomfortable night was had. Breakfast was lovely and everything was cooked well and tasted nice. We asked the young man at reception to change our room, he was very polite about it and sorted it out quickly. We changed rooms to another superior room which was over twice the size of the last superior we slept in. This room had large doors letting in a lot of light, it was airy, which is what we initially expected (as in photos displayed) on arrival. The beds were still uncomfortable with a gap and the pillows were very flat but it was ok. We were allowed to check out an hour later at 12pm as we requested. The cleanliness of the rooms differed from one to another. Our overall stay wasn’t anything to shout about, just ok. Most of the staff were polite and friendly, especially the manager on reception.

Clean comfortable room, super king bed, good shower. No opening windows so patio door needs to be open with a restriction. Sunday roast was very good, a bit slow but 20 odd people showed up late & unexpected for a meal. Refurbished and modernised to a high standard.

Lovely venue & great staff.

We were travelling through so needed good food and a comfortable bed. Food was alright, but my steak was tough I didn't finish it. Lovely staff, food needs a few tweaks. No fresh fruit or yoghurt at breakfast.
