The kitchen was very well equipped and toys were available for the kids to play with. The rooms were comfortable and the host was great. She provided many good suggestions for places to visit. The only negatives were the hot water would shut off from about 9pm till morning (rough estimate) but it happened every night. The host said it was a new boiler and had a technician scheduled to come look at it but I suspect it was a setting that had been overlooked. The house was a little cool at times but we just dressed a little warmer.

Ideal house for visiting the Normandy coast

The traditional house is in a quiet area with a pretty walled garden. It is spacious, light and well equipped. The house was cool during hot weather.You can walk through the village to the unspoilt Bernières-sur-Mer beach. Courseulles-sur-Mer and Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer are busier with more restaurants and shops.The house is very well situated for visiting the Second World War memorials and D-Day museums.Caen and Bayeux are a short drive away on quiet roads. Caroline was a friendly, helpful and efficient host.

Just what we wanted

Charming little house in a great location to visit the Canadian or British D-Day beaches and surroundings. Caroline was wonderful to deal with. Stairs are a little steep and water closet is on the main floor with bedrooms upstairs. Just FYI if you have any mobility issues.

Better than we knew!!

The house was great, and we spent one afternoon walking to the Juno Beach Center and picked up FRESH fish for dinner. We enjoyed family meals around the table after days of exploring. We would stay there again!

Photographs on website are accurate for this property. We stayed for 10 days in September. We felt the house was chilly in the late evenings and early mornings. When I enquired about access to heating the response I received was that boiler was not put on until the end of September and there was no secondary form of heating. We feel that for the price of this property that heating should be available as required and not at the owner's discretion. Need to be aware that there is no toilet upstairs in the house. This presents a problem if one needs to use toilet during the night as you have to go downstairs and through the kitchen. Also, there is no hand basin in the toilet so to wash your hands you either have to use kitchen sink or go upstairs to bathroom. Not ideal for hygiene purposes. Other than those points we had a very enjoyable stay. Weather was mostly good during the day and the garden is lovely to sit in. Very quiet while we were there.

Cozy comfortable home

The house has everything we needed and I would stay here again when visiting Normandy. Due to the spring weather, we weren’t able to enjoy the lawn chairs or the nearby beach, but I can see that as being the high point of a summer stay.

Very attractive well situated property

The house was clean, well appointed and very comfortable. It is in a quiet location but minutes away from the beach. Our interest was in the D day landings and the Normandy campaign in WW2 and access to all areas was easy. Caroline had many brochures giving info about this topic. If others have similar interests, then it a good place to stay. Thanks Caroline Richard and family

Ideal and cute little house.

My family of 6 stayed at this beautiful little house for 3 nights in July. Caroline met us at the house to give us the key. She was very sweet and although language was a bit of a barrier we still managed to communicate. The house was perfect. It had 3 bedrooms and enough room for my family. The kitchen was very well equipped and the house was walking distance to Juno beach. Very quaint and charming.

Beautiful, quiet property near all the good places

This was a great place because it was close to everywhere we needed to be, while not being in a very touristy area. We really enjoyed walking to the bakery every morning, and then around the corner for a coffee. I would definitely return here--the house had everything we needed, including the most beautiful courtyard that was made even more beautiful by several bottles of nice French rosé :-)

Great Normandy house equipped with everything you might need, excellent location.

A wonderfully lovely and charming house. The amenities were complete; not everything was new, but it was there.The kitchen was well-equipped, with excellent cookware and utensils. In the surrounding area (less than 40 minutes by car), we discovered and visited different WWII monuments, museums and French castles each day for two weeks. The location is excellent, and there's even a small house/storage facility on the beach that you can use. All in all, we had a wonderful holiday.

Ce fut un grand plaisir de retrouver la maison de Bernieres et son joli jardin . La proximité de la plage est idéale avec des enfants. Le site regorge de nombreuses activités . Wunderschönes Haus nahe am Meer

Die Umgebung bietet viele interessante Sehenswürdigkeiten. Besonders die Landungsstrände und die D-Day Besucherzentren Juno Beach, Omaha Beach, Gold Beach und Cean sollte man sich ansehen. Das Meer mit seinem feinen Sandstrand läd zum Baden ein.

Séjour dans la jolie maison

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour dans cette région. La maison est très bien et joliment décorée. Nous avons profité de la plage, sortie, jardin très beau. Location qui convient parfaitement aux familles avec enfant. La plage est à 10 minutes à pied : trajet est confortable et sécurisé. Beautiful Garden

A lovely cottage with a beautiful garden. We liked it here very much. The little beach house that you can use is great. Unfortunately, it was a bit too cool for us to swim.

Un séjour très plaisant !

La maison est idéalement située, à 10 min de la mer à pied . Le jardin joliment fleuri permet aux enfants de jouer en toute sécurité et aux adultes de profiter du calme . La proximité du camping n’est absolument pas gênante . Caroline nous a fort bien accueillis et conseillés pour nos découvertes de la région . Une cabine de plage est même à disposition ce qui est très pratique avec des enfants . Bernieres sur mer est une station balnéaire charmante .

Séjour familial réussi

cette station balnéaire est un peu à l'écart des mouvements de foule de touristes. Cette petite maison très coquette , très bien équipée , très calme, nous a permis de passer des moments familiaux très forts et de les partager en marchant sur les plages , en faisant du vélo ensemble et en visitant le musée de Juno Beach . Hôtesse très accueillante, bonne conseillère , très arrangeante . Gite à conseiller sans restriction .Edmond
