Refurbished room is good enough BUT they should have spent the money on sound-proofing and better heating. We could hear every footsteps, door slamming and shouting from corridor and other rooms. This hotel is more expensive than the HI in Winnersh which is better, go there instead!

Stayed here for business whilst working in Reading. Reception staff were very welcoming and friendly. Room was big and we'll equipped, although my bedside light didn't work but wasn't entirely necessary. The hotel is currently being renovated so some parts are blocked off or look a bit like a site, however the rooms that have been updated are lovely and clearly show why. Bed was comfortable but very firm. Bathroom was very small but had everything needed. The shower curtain was glass which was great, as it is a bug bear when hotel shower curtains are cloth (not only do they touch you but can't be cleaned in the same way). The shower pressure was poor....water only came out of the centre of the shower head, so less than 50% of the shower head worked (this wasn't broken, it looked like a design, perhaps to conserve water). Just made my shower longer. The small towel in the bathroom had make up marks on it (beige foundation looking marks) so I didn't use it and was very disappointed as everything else was so clean. There is lots of mirror space to get ready and plug sockets everywhere you need them. Breakfast was Lovely, lots of options and all of it was nice. I would definitely stay here again but some improvements could be made

The food was tasty, the service was quick. Even the portions were not big but fed me enough. We did enjoy the steam but the swimming pool was a little bit cold so I didn’t spend much time in it. All was relaxing though.

This hotel is being re-furbished at the moment. The new room was fab! Big comfy bed, great shower, everything you would expect from a Holiday Inn. Ample free parking which is ideal for Reading! The staff are lovely - welcoming, polite & helpful. I was originally given a room where the heating did not work, but a quick call to reception rectified it by moving me to another room. Dinner was lovely - definitely improved from my last visit over a year ago. On check-out I was offered some de-icer as all the cars were iced over. A very nice touch thank-you.

Perfect. Easily found - plenty of parking - easy check-in & check-out - convenient location. Room usual high specification (for this type of hotel) - will use again. Did not use swimming pool or fitness centre this time - but enjoyed on last visit. Should have put 'sleeping in' note on door handle to avoid 10am knock, though.

On arrival the first thing you see is the car park with plenty of parking 5 stars . front of house what very welcome & helpful with the luggage trolley too . are room what's on the ground floor ? but so far away from everything we needed a Segway (laugh) The room lovely because it was cold outside the room was at the right temperature . Bathroom a bit small for us but the bed wicked sleep like a baby the wife said . After late night partying the night porter was very welcome to let us in . Morning breakfast buffet great everything you need staff very helpful again . The wife was sad because we didn't have time to use the gym . so would I come back ? yes when we are in town again .

The hotel was a pleasant surprise, from outside it looked dreadful but once I got inside it was a different story. The hotel has been recently remodeled to a reasonable standard, this includes the reception area and rooms, although some of the corridors still had some redecorating to go before being complete. My only problem was that housekeeping had set the room air con to 32 degrees, the room was like an oven and do was my colleagues room next door, I reset the air con but still had to keep the window open all night which was noisy and uncomfortable.

I have been meeting a client every 3 months for last 6 years at the hotel. I come from Kent, he comes from Wiltshire, so perfect location just off M4. Usual meeting on 12 December lasted just over an hour, having coffee and snacks in the reception area. After 2 months I have just been hit with a £60 parking fine. Apparently there is plenty of signage, but neither of us were aware of the new restrictions. Tried to speak with Holiday Inn on their premium rate number to be cut off by hotel reception. I see from other comments I am not alone in being stitched up. To add insult as my car is leased they also charged me £10 for dealing with the penalty notice. Surely any modicum of customer service would be for the staff to point out to guests the new arrangements to ensure compliance. Looking for somewhere else to hold our meetings

Holiday Inn Reading - South M4, Jct.11 Reading Worst New Year's Eve experience ever BEWARE 559647853 When we first arrived at this hotel I actually drove past it contesting with my wife that it could not possibly be a holiday inn it looked more like a council block of flats. We got to reception and checked in the hotel was freezing and it became apparent that the was a refurb going on something the hotel forgot to mention when we booked. So we headed off down the long narrow corridors to hunt for our room which when found looked tired and dated the heating did not work properly which we complained about but nothing got done. We headed to the bar area to meet our friends who we would be spending our New Year's Eve with which consisted of a dinner and disco we were all looking forward to a great evening in this freezing cold council looking building. We noticed lots of vehicles turning up in the car park it did not take long to realise that these mobs of people that had descended on this hotel were from let's say THE TRAVELING COMMUNITY to say we were not happy was a understatement most of us felt very uncomfortable being surrounded by such a large group of people and a member of staff let slip that the same people were there the year before so had booked again so when we booked I feel the hotel should have been obliged to let us know we would be sharing our evening with this large group of people. It felt like we were at there party there kids were jump over our chairs the girls who had babies each had not just a little buggy but a massive pushchair that they all brought into the room and parked them right by our table they queued for food around us whilst we tried eat it wasn't a nice evening at all and we complained next day on checkout to be told we would have to contact the events team which I did and got through to the rudest manager PAUL the man has not an ounce of customer service skills and because of him I point blank refuse to ever stay at an holiday inn again PAUL you know who you are a disgrace to the holiday inn the company the brand and its customers never again and I'm not interested in what the management have to say I already had to go through head office.

On December 7th arranged to meet a guest for a Business Meeting (which I've done at this Holiday Inn/Premises for the last decade). Even though I logged my registration number at reception (they have an Ipad there to do it) I was horrified to be hit with a £100 parking fine, the meeting I had lasted 1 hour and 8 minutes. Tried to speak with Holiday Inn /Parking Eye about this but they are not interested. Words can't explain how mistreated, frustrated, angry this makes me. Neither myself nor any of my staff will stay at Holiday Inn again
