The Mayfair hotel in Belmar is a quaint old hotel from ages past. The pros: winter rates are very reasonable for what you get. Although the decor is a bit old and dated, it is clean and well run. Beachfront rooms have a great view of the ocean… you can hear the waves crashing as you sleep! The amenities are more than adequate. Cons: the rooms are small, but clean. It’s an old hotel with no elevators to 2nd and 3rd floors. Not a problem for me, but would be for handicapped/limited mobility guests. Overall a great place for the views and beach access, and the prices are reasonable. Not for Those who only like brand new/modern accomodations.

Staff was friendly. View was beautiful, tho' my room's view competed with a building across the street. Building wasn't bad, but also was not modernized. Bathroom was tiny, but clean.

Yes the room was spotless and staff was very helpful! The housekeeper asked if we needed towels or anything else. It has a beautiful dining area and porch where you can have your meals! You will feel at home here!

Lovely and quaint hotel. The folks were so gracious and friendly! A minor suggestion....the rooms needs a mirror!. I was in town for a wedding and wasnt able to "check my look"..lol.. otherwise, a highly recommended property.

The staff was friendly, and the room was clean. In the off-season, the on-street parking was easy, but I doubt that's the case during the summer. Unfortunately, the heater was left off until we asked at the front desk (because there's no phone) that it be turned on. Then it went full blast, so we actually needed to open the window overnight to cool the room to a bearable temperature. There's no thermostat in the room. The bed seemed flimsy and creaky, and the mattress was thin, old, and uneven. Also, our ocean-view room did have a clear view of the ocean out its (ordinary) window. However, the room was not set up to look out the window, so watching the waves required sitting up on the bed without support. We knew about the lack of an elevator, but visitors should know that it's a steep climb up the stairs.

Common areas (lobby, halls, entrance) are horrible- musty smelling and old. But the room (203) was fine - spotless, newer flooring, minimal bedding, walk in shower with great water pressure and a small refrigerator. A view of the ocean was worth the extra money and the area was lively during the day but quiet at night.

Staff was very friendly and helpful but the property needs updates. You need to clearly state that there are no elevators on property. Many updates are needed for rooms and property. Like doors, darker window blinds that close, bathroom.
