Renata W Our stay at Ka'ana was wonderful. The resort is a beautiful, peaceful and well maintained property. From the minute we pulled up from a long day of travel we were greeted with warm hospitality. (eucalyptis scented cloth for our face) aaaah!! We enjoyed much of ka'ana's offerings including a last minute couples massage which the staff expedited for us, we attended a craft cocktail event with kareem, the best bartender who served us many a CT with the freshest of herb garnishes picked from the local garden and tropical fruits,,Also, giving a big shout out to Danielle, Ellorry, and Julianie who always greeted us with a smile every time we pulled up after a day of tour and assisted us with any questions or needs throughout our stay....breakfast in our room every morning-the guava jelly is YUM, And even Wolfgang the property manager offered us a piggy back lift into town for dinner one night which spared us taxi fare and hassle. Last but not least you have to experience Jason... He's a tour all by himself-Big personality, Big fun, lots of laughs- Will definitely recommend ka'ana, If we are to return to San Ignacio we will stay with this crew for sure. As we say in the south- Thanks Ya'll !!!!!
My husband and I travel quite a bit, and we always do a lot research before we book any hotels. We did extra research for this particular trip to Belize because it was our honeymoon. When we saw Ka'ana, we were totally sold. The reviews, the pictures, and the website all looked amazing. So we booked it! When we arrived, we were greeted by name and graciously ushered into the lobby by the receptionist and Jason, one of the managers. Everyone was very friendly and polite, and Jason gave us an entertaining introduction to the resort. The grounds are beautiful and well tended. We chose to stay in one of the Balam rooms because the pictures online looked pretty awesome - and it was nice, though a little small (however the screened in porch with hammock made it bigger). Upon unpacking, we noticed that there was a bit of an odd sewage-like smell in the bathroom. We called the front desk and they said they would send someone to come check it. We then headed over for dinner (good but expensive) and when we came back to go to bed, the smell was still there and there was an odd clunking sound in the bathroom wall...which lasted all night and made for a sleepless experience. We recorded the sound so that we could tell Jason in the morning, and when he heard it, he seemed surprised and said they would fix it. Which they did...but on evening #2, the smell was back in full force. At that point, they decided to move us to another Balam room. Balam room #2 started out pretty well, until the middle of our second night in that room when the AC broke. In the morning, Jason and the front desk ladies said they would get it fixed immediately, and when we returned from our day tour, we thought it was fixed...until we received a call from the front desk telling us we would need to move rooms yet again. At this point, the resort manager, Wolfgang, came to help us move our stuff, and said we would be getting upgraded to a suite and personally guaranteed that it never had an issue with AC (you might be able to guess where this is going). The suite was nice, so we headed to dinner and when we returned at 9 pm (our last night at the resort), we were told that the AC in the new room was broken, and we would again have to move rooms. At this point, it would have been laughable if it wasn't so frustrating. This was going to be our 4th room in 4 nights. I explained to the front desk lady (who was very nice) that we were very frustrated and disappointed, and I wanted to talk to Wolfgang upon our departure in the morning about getting one night free of charge due to all of the inconvenience. The staff was very sweet about decorating the new room and giving us a free bottle of wine that night, but at that point we were so ready to leave the resort. When we checked out, Wolfgang did indeed give us a night free of charge and apologized. While he made this seem like a grand gesture, at the time the hotel was actually offering a promotion on their website to stay three nights and get one free, so it wasn't really much of a sacrifice for the hotel -- especially when they could have chosen to upgrade us after the first night of troubles. And while we totally understand that Belize is a developing country and the management can't control every little thing, this experience was just so strange. We've stayed in a variety of hotels (budget, moderate, luxury) in developing countries all over Asia, and we've never had something like this happen. The staff was very sweet and helpful, but we would not stay here again. P.S. If you do stay here, make sure you pre-order breakfast! We didn't know this was an option until the second day, and it was a total game-changer. Instead of waiting for 30 minutes in the restaurant, we had our food delivered straight to our room.
My wife and I had an excellent time at Ka'ana. The food and services were amazing, and staff were genuinely helpful and eager to make out stay memorable. Please go on a day trip or two. The guides kept us safe, learning, and laughing all the way. Belize's culturally rich history was reflected proudly among the staff. Ka'ana deserves the highest praise!! Many thanks to the men and women at Ka'ana Resort. Can't wait to return!!
Arrived in Belize and transportation to resort was right on time. Reception at resort was simple and welcoming, as well as informative. Rooms were very comfortable. Well organized excursions and activities. Had tour across to Columbia to the Tikal Mayan ruins one day and horseback ride to another the following day, along with picnic along the river. Ending the visit with private dinner in the wine cellar. Staff was more than accommodating with scheduling and our needs. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Spectacular and far beyond all our expectations of what a resort could offer, especially in the middle of Belize's jungle. The accommodations are just as beautiful as the photos, but they do not provide you the real story of why this place deserves 7 out of 5 stars. Aside from the custom tailored welcome drinks, infinity pool, picturesque landscape, complimentary yoga, and nightly surprises left during turn down service, you will find extraordinary staff that take pride in their work and always greet you with their warmest smiles. It is thanks to them that you learn about the resorts culture of sustainability, walk through the gardens where they pick herbs and vegetables for your smoothies and dinner , see the chickens that lay the eggs you eat for breakfast and learn about Belize with your own private wine-cellar meet and greet (and drink). Whether you splurge and spend one or seven, it is worth the travel across the country (and it's many speed bumps) to get to your own little bit of paradise.
Just got back from a couples getaway to Belize. Stayed 4 nights at Ka'ana and could not have had a better time! Everyone there was amazing. It is a smaller resort and they clearly pride themselves on personalized service. Jason, the GM, greeted us warmly on arrival and arranged for fabulous day trips. He truly knows every single guest who stays with them. Our guides were great- especially Andy! We went cave tubing, to the Belize zoo, and to Tikal Mayan ruins over the border in Guatemala. I felt safe and comfortable the entire time, the guides are so knowledgeable about the area. The grounds are well maintained and absolutely beautiful. Rooms are impeccably clean and quiet. The food and service was top notch at the restaurant. I went to a fun and relaxing yoga class offered on the pool deck. Oh, and I had the best massage of my life at the spa. I miss it already and cannot wait to go back!
We had a delightful stay at this resort. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. The craft cocktails were a highlight for sure. We booked two tours through the resort and both guides were amazing. Giselle was our guide fou Xunantunich. She was extremely knowledgeable about the site as well as the flora and fauna. We enjoyed a picnic by the Mopan River that was hosted by our lovely butler Candi. Candi was incredible. She was very thoughtful and very attentive toward our 9 year old son who followed her around the resort. We felt he was a bit of a PITA but Candi handled it like a champ. She was an absolute joy. Brandon guided our Barton Creek tour and shared a wealth of knowledge with us. He was fabulous. The resort grounds were perfect and we truly enjoyed our stay. This place is pure magic. A must see for sure.
We stayed here twice, in July 2014 and December 2016. I don't even have words for how good the staff and the ambiance is, it's so unique and one of a kind! The food and dining experience is so appetizing and drinks are presented so nicely.
We took our annual couple's trip in San Ignacio, Belize, and we were fortunate enough to stay at Ka'ana Resort for 4 awesome and eventful days! The attentiveness and staff hospitality was second to none- there are 3 staff members to every 1 guest. We called them 'resort ninjas' they would appear with goods and services without even a prompt or suggestions! They knew which drinks we were privy to, where we were relaxing and which dining options would best suit our taste palettes. It was more than we could have asked for! Jason, the customer relations manager, arranged our excursions, transportation needs and resort wants with ease and detail. The turn down services was excellent. We looked forward to returning to our rooms to find little treats to top off our day. Nuri, the masseuse gave me the BEST massage I have ever had in my LIFE! Our tour guides Brandon and Eddie went above and beyond for us! We enjoyed learning about the vast culture of Belize via the Mayan Ruins and canoeing though the caves! We, also, took the Mayan cooking class, and the instructors (they were sisters) were amazing, and we could have possibly eating 82 tacos and tamalitos that day! The GM, Wolfgang, even gave me a push on the swings! Ka'ana was truly a slice of heaven. It was pure indulgence in the middle of the rainforest! This visit to Ka'ana has changed our lives! I miss it already...the welcome drink and the fry jacks with warm honey...i can taste them, right now! We bought a bunch of the handcrafted soaps, at least, that will take the edge off until we meet again! Such sweet sorrow, Ka'ana! Thank you for treating us like gold and showing us a new way to travel!
It is almost difficult to write this review, because there is so many great things to say about Ka'ana. The resort is truly a fantastic, almost magical place. Aside from it's luxury and beauty, the staff is probably the best staff I've ever encountered an any hotel or resort I've ever stayed at. They were extremely attentive and were always available. In fact, my wife sustained a minor injury while on an excursion, and we realized that she might need a few stitches. Jason, one of the managers, drove us to the local private hospital, stayed with us while she received her stitches, and then drove us back to the resort. This could have been a potentially stressful situation for us if Jason were not with us to help. We were incredibly grateful. We came to Ka'ana for the beauty of the resort, we will come back because of the people.
