Great place to stay. Tried to book a dive/snorkel trip was told they needed 2more people since i was the only one so far. Asked if I could just pay for the other 2 and was told that for one person only they charged for 8 people. Needles to Say I told them to “never mind”
We loved our condo room. It was super cool every time we entered. The beds were very comfortable. Good size kitchen area too although we did not cook. Convenience of the dock pick-up when doing excursions was worth the extra cost of the Resort compared to others.
Great location, great resort, great service! I can't wait to go back! Be sure to get a golf cart as it's a must to go to town. There is an AWESOME Yoga resort right down the street. Also be sure to have groceries delivered to your room before you arrive! Best Honeymoon Ever!!!
Upon arriving at Ambergris Caye and claiming our luggage (which took all of five minutes), a representative of Grand Caribe greeted us and drove us twenty minutes to the resort. The Grand Cribe resort is exactly what one would expect from a 4+ star resort. It was clean, modern, convenient, loaded with amenities, in a great location, with beautiful pools, and most importantly the staff were welcoming, friendly and very helpful.
This was my second stay at this property and they make it easy. Booking all the flights to and from the mainland. Pick up and drop off from the airport. Laundry done everyday. Nothing is ever a problem. The property is beautiful and well maintained. The condos are stunning. During our stay we had a problem with the AC and the property mgr quickly solved it. Even offered to move us. Nothing is a problem and they take great care of everything. The ocean view condos are well worth the money. Few things to know about the island which has nothing to do with Grande Caribe. First, There are no real beaches and mostly natural crushed coral. There is a coral reef just a few yards off shore so they don’t dreadge for sand. Secret Beach is about the best it gets and that is a long haul in the golf cart on undeveloped roads. Second, you need a golf cart to get around and easy to rent one Grande Caribe or get one yourself. Third, the locals are very nice and helpful....(most of them). Set your expectations accordingly as Ambergris Caye is an island and not everything will be the same as at home. Simple things like groceries and getting gasoline for your golf cart will require trips into the south side of San Pedro which you will see how the locals live and work everyday. For my 76 year old father in law he was taken back by how “tough” the conditions are on the island for them. Rest assured staying Grande Caribe is the place to stay and was the reason I chose to vacation there with my 76 year old Father in law as its the best on the island.
We stayed here for a week and it was lovely. The condos are rolmy with large patios. Ours was ocean facing and we loved sitting on the patio with drinks and good conversation while we soaked in the view. There are downsides to staying on the island; it is challenging/time consuming to get to sites on the mainland, but the concierge is happy to help. If snorkeling and sunning are on your list this place is a delight.
This hotel is a little expensive. Well its actually condominiums. But we were here for a wedding/honeymoon and the extra expense was worth it. Greeting with cold towel and drink was nice. The rooms are fantastic. They feel beachy yet luxurious. The kitchens are perfect if you want to stock up on some supplies and have your own drinks, coffee and snacks (or even a meal). We cooked the fish the boys caught one day. The small store attached was a nice way to keep ourselves in fruit, cheese, beer etc. Two restaurants on sight plus the pool bar and room service if desired. Numerous other restaurants and bars within walking distance. The house keeping was spot on every day and very unobtrusive. We stayed in a walk out beach front and the sunrise is incredible. Friends in higher rooms with views loved that as well. Hard to say where was quieter. I called and the staff talked me through which room would be best suited to our needs. The grounds are immaculate and the pools and amenities are so clean. I was worried there would not be enough shade as the trees are minimal but there are umbrellas everywhere. The staff was very friendly and we felt extremely safe. The concierge helped us to book several tours, while it may have been a little more that way, the tours picked up and dropped at the dock there. We were not there during peak season and very much appreciated that it wasn't packed. There was never a problem finding a pool chair or seat at the bar (or the swim up bar we loved that1)
We absolutely loved our stay at Grand Caribe Belize. The room was very comfortable and the bonus they did our laundry every day. The staff in the entire hotel were very friendly, the pool area was perfect and the bar had great items to offer. We booked our tours and internal flights with the hotel and it meet our expectations. We tried the restaurants and the food was amazing. It was central to everything and we recommend getting a golf court it made the trip so much fun. We will definitely stay again at Grand Caribe Belize.
The property is beautiful and meticulously maintained. Numerous pools provide space for guests and owners. The condos are very nice. The staff are very attentive and polite. Areas of concern were addressed promptly by the property manager, Mike.
After leaving Caves Branch Jungle lodge, we were shuttled to the Belize airport. We took a ten seater island hopper to Ambergris Cay. We were met at the airport with a representative from the Grand Caribe. Check in was warm, welcoming and very pleasant and easy. Our family of six had two-two bedroom condos next door to each other. They were beautifully furnished with top rate appliances. It was very impressive. One of the most surprising and best parts was their complementary laundry service. How wonderful to go home with a suitcase of clean clothes for a change. The service was wonderfully efficient and quick. The resort is only 2 miles from San Pedro. The most common modes of transportation are golf cart, bicycles and occasionally a motorized shuttle. We used the shuttle once to go into town. The selection of restaurants are phenomenal. We ate at the Elvis with a sand floor. We ate at Caramba’s which has fresh fish on display for your selection. Our first day we had dinner at Rain which is on the rooftop next-door to the grand Caribe. The atmosphere was phenomenal. Thank goodness we had great weather and a starry sky. We scheduled a trip to go snorkeling and swimming with the nurse sharks and rays. Our guides were pepper and candy man. They were very kind and knowledgeable. Everyone loved the guided snorkeling trip. The sharks are very tame and used to being fed. The guide said not to get too near them. Not because they are dangerous but because they become frightened and will swim away from people. This is a wonderful experience and I would recommend it for everyone, from small children to senior citizens. There’s something for everyone to enjoy. We did rent a golf cart for the day. We drove to a place called the secret beach. It isn’t very secret. There are signs directing you there. It’s a beautiful, pristine beach. There are restaurants and beverages available. There are beach chairs and a gorgeous sandy beach. You can walk for a long time and only end up waist deep. Afterwords we drove to town and enjoyed the restaurants and shops that I mentioned earlier. If you’re planning a trip to Belize, I would certainly recommend the Grand Caribe in Ambergris Cay.
