    Misleading Check-In & Parking Experience

    I’ve been using Hotels.com for over 15 years, and this was by far the worst check-in I’ve ever encountered. The confirmation email from Hotels.com gave no indication of DJ City Apartments’ unusual check-in requirement: you’re expected to call the property 24 hours before arrival to arrange access. This crucial detail is buried in the app—not visible in the confirmation, unlike other bookings I’ve made. When we arrived, no one was there to receive us. No one answered the phone. Hotels.com offered no support either. After 45 stressful minutes waiting in the street with our 3 little kids, I finally reached the owner, who informed us the apartment had been trashed by previous guests involved in drug use, and a cleaning crew was en route. As a family of five, we were offered two smaller separate studio apartments instead of the one we booked. We accepted, but it was not what we had booked. Adding to the frustration, I was assured we could park for free on the street and the owner would register our car with the police. The next day, a cleaning staff member told us the rules had changed—parking is only free for 30 minutes, after which fines apply. We’d unknowingly parked for 18 hours. We ended up having to pay for parking ten minutes away. To be fair, the apartments were clean, well-decorated, and centrally located. But the misinformation and logistical mess created an unnecessarily stressful start to our visit.

    The apartment is at a great location. We stayed for 3 nights (from Friday night to Monday morning). We got apartment that we did not select, and unfortunately, the ac in it did not work. Belgrade had a heat wave that particular weekend and the inside temperature was over 91F. The property does not have a 24h front desk, as stated in the property description, and the communication with the management was challenging. We reported the ac issue to the lady we saw at the front desk on Saturday morning. After that we called/messaged about the ac numerous times during the day and got a response from the property around 11 pm. it was offered to move in a new hotel on Sunday. We decided to stay considering we had a 6:30 am flight on Monday morning. There were not clear instructions for check out and none of the messages sent to the property about it was answered. We had an early flight on Monday morning and were not clear to whom/where to leave the apartment key. We eventually left it in the apartment and messaged the property manager. Have not got any answer :) So, all in all, we were very frustrated with a lack of communication and extremely hot in the apartment. Not a nice experience.

    Property and location were great, however on the last day they demanded cash payment in Euros not in local currency. We were told by the owner the credit card terminal was down. An employee told us they do not have even have a credit card machine. Super scammy to say the least.

    The property was nicely updated and it has an excellent location. The manager was very friendly and accommodating. We were concerned when we were told that we couldn't pay with a credit card because they were having issues with their terminal but, we managed to adjust our currency budget to pay cash. We also had lots of no answers when trying to phone the owner.

    Lägenheten var bra, läget bra och en fantastisk balkong men incheckningen var en katastrof! Dom sa att någon skulle finnas på plats och möta oss. Till slut kom vi in i huset när annan person gick ut. Vi fick ringa på dörrar och till slut fick vi ett annat telnr att ringa. Då fick vi gå ner till kiosken och hämta en nyckel. Vi fick fel nyckel och fick ta resan till kiosken igen😫
