Radisson Blu Hotel, Biarritz4.0 out of 5.0

The Radisson Blu Biarritz is located along the upper portion of Biarritz, near the Plage De La Cote De Basque and where we stayed for two nights as we were part of a tour group (Globus) and this hotel is really popular for the big tour groups. We were booked in the twin superior room, which was large at 40 square meters (we were only two). I love Radisson Blu Hotels as they are always clean and modern and this location has large rooms to boot. This hotel has 150 rooms and suites and two bars and lounges and the plus part is that the roof bar is where the swimming pool is and provides wonderful views of the Pyrenees Mountains and the Bay of Biscay. Complimentary Breakfast Buffet is at Onyx Restaurant at the Ground Floor from 6:30 am to 10:00 am everyday. Other amenities include Free WiFi, coffee maker and other typical amenities you find in hotels but again no toothbrush or tooth paste ( a standard in Europe). The Hotel is about a 1 minutes downhill walk to downtown where the other attractions of the Surfing Town of Biarritz are located. Check in is 3:00 pm and check out is 12:00 pm
Location is great with easy walk into the main town area, bars, restaurants, market and shops. Over the road from the cliff walk down to the surfers beach. Pleasant and helpful staff. Spacious bedroom and bathroom. Comfortable bed. Nice pool on the roof with sun loungers and access to a bar. Comfortable area to sit on the roof and relax with a drink in good weather. One reason I chose this hotel was for the fitness room. This turned out to be a room which was smaller than our bedroom and with just three machines. Misleading description and poor facilities. Although said not to be impossible (although it was for us) it was difficult to have the room for any longer than the check out time of 12. Our flight was late in the evening and we had hoped to have some facilities to change/shower. This was again not facilitated. We were told we could use the SPA showers but again turned out not to be easy to arrange so we didn't.
The location of the hotel and the rooftop restaurant along with its amazing views are the best parts of the hotel. The rooms are outdated. The staff was a mix. One gentleman was extremely helpful in helping us to get a car to the bus station after a crisis that put us off schedule. Other employees were not helpful at all. The rooftop bar offers amazing views and the food and service were wonderful there. The room price is simply too much for what you get. Next time in Biarritz, I will Airbnb.
Lovely hotel situated within easy walking distance of the town centre, beaches and clifftop walks. Reception and bar staff pleasant and courteous. Room was clean, comfortable and spacious with all required facilities . Bed comfortable . Bathroom with shower over bath but good controls. Pool and roof area very pleasant and welcoming. Breakfast adequate. Would recommend.
Very service minded and localized close to one beach and the Grand Plage are without 10 minutes. The view from the pool area at the roof are amazing. But the best is the people working at the hotel, always welcoming with a smile.
It is a nice hotel with a lovely terrace overlooking to ocean but rooms and other services way to average. It seems way to nice on the internet pages whereas reality is quite average with terrible color selections of the rooms.
The hotel room is a good size with a comfortable bed but otherwise quite average. The rooftop terrace is the main attraction - a pool, a restaurant and a bar with fabulous views of the sunset. Hotel location is on the edge of the center but easy walking distance to the beach or market.
As others have said, this is a well situated and appointed 4* Radisson branded hotel, aimed at both business and leisure travellers, located in a central, elevated position between the two beach areas and convenient for the town centre. Rooms are large and very clean but the design and décor now look a little dated. We arrived late on a Sunday evening, and as it was raining, opted to eat in the main restaurant on the fifth floor. The menu choice was limited, and as all the main dishes had rich sauces we found it a little heavy. One interesting feature was that as the rain increased it started coming though the roof and we had to move further back into the restaurant. This is apparently not uncommon, and on a later evening when a strong Atlantic storm was forecast, the restaurant and adjoining rooftop bar were closed for the evening. We enjoyed the hotel buffet breakfasts very much however, and the staff were all very friendly and efficient at clearing tables and offering to cook fresh eggs on request. All in all we spent a very enjoyable week here, as the staff all had a smile and seemed to enjoy working together as a team. Unusually for a French hotel, the TV carried a number of English news channels, so we were able to follow the general election and its aftermath. Biarritz is lovely friendly town and this hotel fits right into it.
This is a smart hotel in a good position to explore the lovely town of Biarritz one of the greatest villages in Basque country. Located in the best spot in Biarritz, you are in a 5-minute walk to the town centre and in front of a beautiful beach which is great for an evening walk. The room was very big and spacious and the beds were extremely comfortable, air conditioning could perhaps have been a little cooler. Staff were particularly helpful and the Wi-Fi worked well. Lovely breakfast and great rooftop bar to watch the sunset over the Atlantic. Would certainly base ourselves here again.
The Radisson Blu is very well appointed and situated a short walk from the Centre and the Beach in Biarritz. The rooms are Large , ours having Two Double beds which is handy if the other half is snoring !! The Roof Top Pool and Bar affords fantastic views and the chance to relax away from it all. Robes are provided as you would expect in a hotel such as this. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful and set us up nicely for the day. Staff on Reception were extremely helpful, a female whose name escapes me (sorry) was able to recommend and book some local restaurants for us which was really helpful. Her recommendations were very good and we both had an enjoyable stay. Our bathroom was looking a little tired but the room was still nice, large and clean.
