Our room was large with comfortable twin beds and a balcony. In a separate alcove were two bunk beds which would have been excellent for children of - say - three up to ten or eleven. Very good public rooms with plenty of space and a bar. Very close to the town centre (ten minutes walk) and to the beach, though down (and up!) a steep hill. Breakfast a little haphazard, sometimes no cups or milk and beware, the eggs are raw. You have to boil your own in the provided boiler. Staff pleasant and helpful
Staying in the annexe over the road from main building, apartment is decent and clean, main plus is the excellent views over the bay. Very well located near the central market and easy walk of all the main parts of town. Enjoyed the pool also
This aparthotel is in a great location. It is just minutes walk from the beach, from great restaurants and the fantastic les halles market. The room we had on the third floor was clean and had all the facilities you would need. The bathroom is quite small but not a problem. There is no air conditioning which might be an issue in the height of summer. The pool is small but the pool area is spotless. Would definitely stay here again, the perfect location to explore all that Biarritz has to offer.
Le Grande Large is situated just on the outskirts of Biarritz in a fairly quiet area , the spacious airy restaurant has views of the coast towards Spain and the Pyrenees. We were visiting for an evening meal and a few drinks , this was the perfect venue . Our main course the duck , cress and roast potatoes was both well cooked and presented , the desert apple pie for myself , and gateau basque for my partner was equally delicious . For anyone whose French is poor the staff speak good English , we both enjoyed the experience .
We stayed in a studio which can accomodate 2 adults and 2 children. Very good location, close to beaches, shops and restaurants. A big supermarket is only 5 min walk away. Staff was helpful. Room was clean.
We are traveling up the coast from Spain with our two teen children. To date, we have rented an apartment in St Jean for a week and stayed in two other hotels, where we had to book two rooms to accommodate 4 of us. We are all sharing a really well designed studio in Le Grand Large on the 5th floor with a fantastic south facing view of the bay. The beach is minutes away (lots of steps as is the case everywhere in Biarritz) and close to the town and other beaches. Arrived from the station on the Number 10 bus which cost 1 Euro each or 2 Euros for a 24 hr bus pass. Hotel reception is welcoming with a computer and printer available to guests. The studio has a 2 ring hob, fridge, microwave and a sink. The kids are enjoying the pool (deep) and wifi! I simply cannot fault the amenities and the location is the best.
This is a little gem. Go for a meal or like us to watch the fire work from the top. Simply the best view in all of Biarritz. The restaurant is great and food is very tasty. The wine selection is fantastic. Remy the manager will make sure that your experience will be the best. So welcoming and professional. Definitely recommend. Guess come back to the hotel year after years. Like a big family.
The studio apartment with its proportionately large balcony had everything for a stay to make it feel like home rather than a hotel. Perks: Parking on site for a small fee; a well located and relaxing outdoor pool area, breakfast charged reasonably too. A well presented property in a very good location. A super market is very close by (3 streets away) and many of the top picks of the Biarritz tourist spots within walking distance. Only negative, the hot spot internet would drop out frequently during high traffic time slots. Think this could be remedied very easily if the hotel wanted to improve. Front desk staff did everything by the book but lacked warmth - just a job? ! Vicki Sydney Australia
It was with some trepidation that we occupied our studio at this hotel after checking in at the reception desk next to 17 bachelor-party boys. Fortunately, we never saw them again and had a blissfully quiet stay at this great hotel. We had had our hearts set on an ocean-view room, but the receptionist explained that she could only offer us a city-view room on the eighth floor. It turned out that absolutely no apology was necessary as the view from our 8th-floor balcony was one of the most charming cityscapes we’ve ever seen, and even included a narrow view of Biarritz’ northern coastline and lighthouse. During the only morning of our three-week trip that the weather hampered our plans, we were able to enjoy a dramatically beautiful storm-cloud spectacle through our balcony patio doors. Other highlights from this hotel stay included the close proximity of Les Halles food market (a 10-minute walk away) and the exhilarating beachfront panorama within a 2-minute walk from the reception desk.
Booked this place at the very last minute, and arrived an hour later to find our baby cot set up and everything ready. The front desk staff were extremely nice, and I had a really fun laugh with them on check-in. Car parking worked out well. The hotel was definitely a bit unique and the rooms a bit quirky, and we really enjoyed that. Not expensive, and we'd definitely stay here again.
