The first problem was actually finding the hotel. I was on a cycle tour and the weather was atrocious, with rain and wind. Although i put the location into google maps, i failed to find it at first because people were taking cover from rain in front of the single small door next door to a restaurant (which turns out to be associated with the Hotel). The name on the building is otherwise obscured by a large awning. A hotel across the street was very helpful and pointed out the door, which by then was no longer obscured. One goes through a security door and then up 2 short flights of stairs. Check in was easy and my bike was stored in a locked room just around the corner from mine. Nothing was said about the fact that no one would be around to unlock that storage room until 8:30 the next morning, which eliminated my chance for an early departure. The room is small, but standard size for most places in Europe. The bathroom was large and the bed quite comfortable. A major draw for this hotel is its location, which also happens to be a big drawback. The street has multiple bars just across the street from the hotel, all of which come alive after 10pm, so if you want sleep, ear plugs are a good idea. The walls are also thin, so the TV in the room next door, that started up at about 2am, was an issue. There is no air conditioning, so if it is warm, the only option is open windows.

Stayed for one night and wish we stayed longer! You are right in the middle of les halles which is the centre for bars, restaurants and the market. You are also above a popular restaurant (st Jean). It doesn't have parking but the receptionist very kindly mapped out all the roads which had free parking, which was lots but just a case of driving round till you find a space. The receptionist also mapped out a lovely walk along the coast beach and then shops. Very helpful. The room was clean, modern-ish, had full length mirror, and a lovely little balcony overlooking the town. The bathroom was a bit dated and the toilet didn't flush that well. Also we didn't have aircon, which meant having the windows open at night over the noisy street - but all of the wine and beer we had that night sorted our sleeping anyway! Also there is no lift, so be prepared to carry them up stairs if you have heavy cases. Would stay here again.

We have booked in advance. The hotel is well furnished , center located easy to get to the beaches , nearby a market many shops. The rooms have no air conditioning but we had a fence so we could have no problem inside. There is not breakfast room but the lady suggest you to try the continental breakfast served in the down stairs bar.we were 3 of us and we had no problems in sharing the space.the cost is average to the other ohotel but Saint James has really got the Biarritz spirit on it.

I stayed at Hotel Saint James for 2 nights with 2 friends which was the final leg of a bike ride through France. Our host Laure was fantastic from start to finish - nothing was too much hassle and she made our stay a pleasure. She was kind enough to store our bikes safely in the hotel which was great. The room was perfect and the hotel is located on the nicest area of Biarritz on rye des Halles close to all the cool bars and markets. I would definitely recommend!

Very good hotel in the center of Biarritz. We couldn't ask for a better location. Surrounded by bars and restaurants, this little hotel is the perfect deal for a weekends in biarritz (++ comfy matress and good shower) Warm welcoming and very helpful when asking information about the city. Highly recommended.

The hotel is in the perfect location and very close to the centre of Biarritz, only a short walk away from the beach. It is on a busy street with restaurants and bars and has a supermarket across the road. Myself and best friend booked into Hotel Le Saint James for Fete du Bayonne in the summer, and it was perfect for what we needed. The hotel was small and the staff were great, we felt very welcomed and knew we could call with any questions during our stay. As two young girls we felt very safe, and we were even checked on during our stay which was comforting. We were in town for the festival, so spent very little time at the hotel- but to be honest that's the way holidays should be spent. The room was very clean and comfortable with all essentials and enough space to relax- although, the bathroom was small, we still had more than enough space to get festival ready each day. The hotel is walking distance to the bus stops which have shuttle buses taking everyone to and from Bayonne and is close by to surfers coves. We absolutely loved Biarritz, Bayonne and our long weekend. This hotel was perfect for our needs that weekend and was a great price in the middle of summer. I highly recommend this hotel to backpackers, young people and anyone who is looking to get out and about. Thanks for having us. Briony and Liz x x

the hotel is well located, and this is the only positive point that we can remark. the rooms are too small, the bed is likely to be a hostel bed and the toilet does not have a door (no separation between the doorm and toilet). The beakfast is included but they would let in our room a tea bag, a brick of orange juice and a mini muffin (very bad quality). The price was too expensive for what we had. I would not recommend this hotel. there are better options in Biarritz to stay some days.

We stayed at Le Saint James for one night in August. While the hotel is small and with little staff, they could not have been kinder with their time, be it directions, restaurant recommendations, printing, etc. We also were extremely happy with the location, walking distance to the beach and restaurants. Our rooms were comfortable and the value could not have been better.

Me and 3 friends stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is very clean, pretty small but absolutely enough to sleep and relax a bit. The staff was very gentile, and our "mother" as we called the woman of staff, looked for ous very personally. The hotel is situated next to the centre and was absolutely perfekt (for that price)

Stayed here last June for a pretty much a p**s up! We jumped at booking this hotel when we saw the price and its central location. No other hotel in town can offer this unless you get tricked into the camping sight which is cheap but the taxis in and out will result in you spending more! The hotel for us was literally just for sleeping (recovering) and a base to get changed in between the beach and heading out. Clean rooms with a deadly old lady calling the shots. Right beside a small supermarket so cheap lunches and breakfasts to be had so we could afford the horrible prices in the pubs. In short its a clean safe central bed to sleep in and thats all this hotel has and needs to offer when staying in biaritz
