Food & gastronomy were excellent/devine but the accommodation & spa facilities were less than expected . The towels for the pool were worn & overused , the pool area needed tidying & the gardens needed more attention . The walk around the lake was obscured by a fallen tree . For the price this facility could be improved
We are currently staying at this lovely hotel for four nights. It has a fabulous setting, we have a lovely large room with veranda overlooking the lake, we've had a swim in the beautifully clean swimming pool and we have just eaten a lovely breakfast served by lovely staff. There is one major problem though. It is June and perhaps unseasonally hot. The staff are hot and so are their guests. I request that the management team do not indicate air conditioning when there is none or as we have been advised, is controlled centrally...what does that even mean!! Regardless of this, we will still enjoy our stay here but would check the weather forecast before we ever rebooked.
Strange location you really need your own transport its obvious the Chateau and lake has been there before anything else ...Reception and lounge very impressive , restaurant lovely with views of the lake and lovely mature gardens ....Mathew head barman was excellent and very good,,, chatty and made great cocktails ... Reception staff very helpful and they do know the district .... food beautiful but could be more simple ....less gastro but beautifully presented and was treated very well as it was a special occasion ..Rooms big and very comfortable bathrooms fabulous with lots of room ... get a lake view ...great hub for travelling to Biarritz St Jean le Luz and San Sebastian Spain Lovely to sit outside but of course the smokers spoil it ... Downside ... It would be great if they had a no smoking area outside for eating as the smokers will spoil your meal ... no air-conditioning... not enough power points ..but no real complaints ...
As we were staying at the hotel - very nice location and amenities - we naturally decided to try the gastronomic restaurant. This was a fantastic experience indeed. From the kindness of the staff to the quality of the food in our plates, the choice of wine at a reasonable price for such a top notch restaurant, everything was perfect. This place is way better than many highly rated Michelin restaurant, which I tend to distrust increasingly based on my past 3 years experiences. Go there, you won't regret it !!!
This was an excellent place to spend our first night after a long flight from the US. We had a king bed and a large room. We walked around the lake and it was very relaxing. We had both dinner and breakfast here and with a good nights sleep we were pretty well adjusted to the time change and ready to start our tour of the Basque Country and the Bordeaux area.
Lovely hotel with super grounds, bedrooms very good and reception staff and waiter staff excellent. However, it is a bus ride or taxi ride to any activity outside hotel. No restaurants nearby and Biarritz town a 20 euro taxi ride. It is a 5 star and i would agree with this rating. Only gripe was that whilst our booking included breakfast this was strictly continental only and a boiled egg was 5 euro extra. A bit mean!! Summary ... If u want to unwind and get peaceful surroundings with great food near airport look no further. If u want to dander out at nite and browse then book something nearer the town.
This is a gorgeous restaurant by a lake near Biarritz airport. They had a lunch menu including canapés, an amuse bouch, starter, main course, pud/cheese, coffee and sweets and a glass of wine for €35. Incroyable! Every mouthful was delicious and the service perfection. We will fly to Biaritzz again just to come here.
We paid a visit to the restaurant here for a special lunch recently and the food was beyond sublime. Every dish (and we tried many) was not only an explosion of taste but the presentation on each plate was like a work of art. The intelligent matching of flavor and colour with each course demonstrates the creativity and expertise in the kitchen. With an extensive wine list to accompany the fantastic food we had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. The setting itself was lovely with an impressive orangery used as the dining room overlooking a lake. I don't write many reviews but really felt the need to recommend this place to anyone who finds themselves in this beautiful part of France. So go and enjoy and try and save some room for the Grand Marnier soaked crepes.
the room was really spacious and comfortable with a nice view on the garden and the lake. the service is discret and perfect. the diner was a real pleasure moment. it 's an ideal place for a romantic WE
Don't be fooled into thinking this "lakeside" hotel is in a rural idyllic location - it's not. Set amongst a housing estate and close to an airport its far from rural. On checking in be prepared for a hike to the car park and make sure you get a room with a view of the lake - our first offering had a view of the tall hedges surrounding the swimming pool - begrudgingly we were finally offered a suitable room. The room itself was fine with a nice bathroom, robes and slippers etc. Dinner was fine but far from relaxed as it seemed to be served a pace to suit the staff. Breakfast was even more bizarre as we were told in no uncertain terms exactly where we had to sit (in a largely empty restaurant) when we sat at a table with a lake view. Don't expect peace and quite at night either as "trains, planes and automobiles" can all be heard. Not a relaxed visit at all.
