The place was still under construction when we there and imagine that it will probably ve for a long time, but the room that we got was great with good wifi and shower. There's not much staff there to talk to, we didn't see anyone there for the few days we were there, so i could see the problems some visitors had. We didn't experience anything bad there and would stay there again, the views were amazing and good quiet place to spend a few days.
The place is still under construction, but there was no obstacles to our driving or walking around. From there we visited a lot of places: banos de Coamo, El Toro Verde,Aibonito , El Salto de Dona Juana, The temperature was cold and in the mornings the fog was so thick you could not see ten meters in front of you. In the night the Coqui singing put me to sleep like a serenade.
Called the place at 2:00 pm and talk to the the person at the front desk (dont now if he was the owner or not) advising him about our arrival at 6:00. When we arrived, very tired, he was no place to be found. It was raining cats and dogs. There was no place at all where to seat, no bar or restaurant, not even a covered porch with chairs. We saw there was a room with the door open. We got in. It was a 3 rooms apartment, and 2 of them have been used. It was obvious that someone check out that day or maybe before that. It was dirty, but not too bad, and one of the rooms have not been used. After 2 hours of waiting while watching tv at the sofas, still that man was nowhere to be find, we changed clothes, but stayed at the sofa. It was still raining. I continued to go out to see if there were lights on at the office so I could go in and pay. We started getting really sleepy after a day of long driving. After another hour, I saw there was someone at the office. I went there with the intention of paying so I could go to sleep and found the dumbest and rudest person I have ever met. I explained him the whole situation. He just answer he had gone to San Juan. No excuses, no explanations on why he did not even gave us a call to inform us. He insisted we move to another room. I told him it was raining, slippery and quite dark. He kept insisting, and when I asked why he said once and again that the room was dirty. I told him that we were the clients, that we did'nt mind, that we rather stayed there insteand of packing again, changing clothes, etc., that we were leaving early in the morning. He went over with the same story. Told him that if we needed to pack, we'll rather return to San Juan to where we were staying. Nothing. No reasoning. No politeness. No brainer. He them told me that if I did'nt change room, as that was private property he will call the police. At that point I just did not want to BE there. The whole situation was ridiculous, out of a bad sitcom. We obviously left. I know the whole situation sounds unbelieveble. Check the review title "Rocky Start" and confirm. I bet this place will go bankrupt in no time. Is a shame as the place has a very nice view and with good managment and mayor improvements, it would be a nice place. No wonder why the place was almost empty. There is a very nice option close by, Canyon Hotel.
We are currently staying at Hacienda Margarita for 6 days. We are in a King Terrace suite, which is on the top of a stand alone building with two rooms. The 360 degree view is unbelievable. The room is modern and very comfortable, with a fridge and microwave. Internet service is great. I believe all rooms are nonsmoking. I don't know if this would be considered a "budget" hotel, but I thought the price ($440 for 6 days, including tax) was very reasonable for the quality. I used Booking.com. Other discounts are available on their website. There is also a pool. If you are looking for a quiet getaway, this is the place!
My husband and i were on vacation from Jersey. Drove 2 hours from Lares and as soon as i got there, Obvious construction going on.No one at front desk. After a few minutes found some guy that was working there who had told us that all rooms available were booked , That they didnt take online payments and this and that, talking nonsense. After like 30 minutes of disputing with the fellow , who knew nothing of what he was talking about, and even told us we were scammed, we were able to get in contact with owner who stopped by and gave instructions to have our room prepared. After all of that headache, we had our room ready which by the way they must have not let the sheets thoroughly dry and wreaked .. Besides all that, room was beautiful and had an amazing view. Too bad, I will never go back.
Right in the middle of Puetto Rico. Breathtaking land, priceless view, surrounded by wildness, fields, woods, birds,eagles..... You can sleep with a nature melody. Art inspirations in the air.. Totally secluded and peaceful. many different kind of accommodation for every choice. Comforts, modern amenities and its easy to reach the town in few minutes while you live in a natural paradise. Big pool, and under construction a huge panorama restaurant... this place is on expansion and will be soon a unique blissful spot. Im sure cause alredy it is... enjoy
This location is under construction and they opened a few rooms but they are not really equipped to handle guests in a proper manner. The rooms are nice, the bed is ok and the bathroom is fine. But they have no common facilities. It's ok if you just go there to use the room and spend the whole day away from the hotel. The site is spectacular and we have no doubts that when finished, if properly managed, will be a great place to visit. But for now, there are better places in the area.
I was planning this trip for a long time, the day of the check in, I got there after work from San Juan and they never answered the phone. When I got there no one was at front desk, no security, no employees, nothing. Me and my wife ended up driving back to San Juan at 11:40pm. They never called back or gave to me any explination. The next day I receive an email with a confirmation of cancellation by the hotel saying that I didn't show for check in and for that applies a$70.00 cancellation charge. How could I stayed at the hotel when they didn't give me the service?. They blocked my number. The next day I asked a relative to call from another number to see if they aswer, when she asked about the issue with my reservation they hang up the phone and also blocked her number. That was friday, today is tuesday and yet they haven't answered any of my calls, texts or emails. Worst experience ever. I talked with some of the locals and they've heard that is how they run that bussiness. They make a reservation leave you hanging and charge you a cancelation fee and rent that room to other people.
Spent three weeks in the hotel the back room facing the old hacienda at the end of the driveway uphill. The room looked like a small Puerto Rican Spanish Cottage with private courtyard, overlooking Caguas 27 miles and on clear days, el yunque 40 miles. The valleys are working farms, live stock, old tobacco farms. Room was adequate, terraces were spectacular. No restaurant, however, construction is ongoing with the hacienda grounds will serve a working farm to serve in the hacienda. Signs of the hacienda are evident, a barrel room runs thru the new addition and rooms 202 I believe have an ancient stone wall, giving you the feel of the stone cabin. Excellent wifi, and laundry service was excellent. Highly recommend it and enjoy the town of Barranquitas.
The owner was very nice and very helpful to us with recommendations in the area. The area itself is very peaceful. You've got a pretty good view of the hills and mountains all around. The hotel room is decent, a good value I think for the price. Not extravagant if you're looking for that. They were working on building a pool when we were there.
