I stayed only for one day. I like the hotel and service is ok. Could be better, nothing spectacular. I was disappoint with the restaurant. At lunch I asked for hierbs octopus. It was chewing. At dinner I ordered Lomito I got plain fatty steak. Horrible. I will probably stay at the hotel again but I will not eat at restaurant. I hope my comments help to improved.
Great breakfast if you like to try the tropical food like Corozo juice (Tropical fruit) and some small fried delights like cheese empanadas. Very nice staff. Clean room. I had a lovely time, and for sure would recommend the place to my friends.
I stayed with my partner for 5 days/4 nights. The hotel is located on a neighborhood full of all kinds of restaurants and bars. There's a mall just two blocks away. Unfortunately, the building is already a few decades old, there was "that" smell (like old things) in the room and the common areas. If you want to walk around the neighborhood, feel free to do it... just don't head south! In summary, I would stay there again. Loved how kind the people on the front desk was.
The location is great; great restaurants nearby and a mall. Good buffet breakfast with quite a variety of fruits, juices, and local treats. The bed was very comfortable and room temperature was well maintained. The most pleasing part of the stay was the care and attention of the hotel personnel. Everyone was always ready to help. The pool is nice and has nice cabanas for lounging.
We stayed at Country International in March for 6 nights. The staff was wonderful- from front desk to concierge to the bell boys- always willing to help and go above and beyond. Our reservation included breakfast and it was delish- definitely not your typical continental breakfast. The rooms were clean and tastefully decorated. Housekeeping staff was lovely. A great value. We're planning to return for Christmas.
Literally my room had no windows. It was like staying in a basement. I've immediately asked for a room change and they offered a suite which was in worst conditions than the previous (dated and noisy) so decided to give up the view for a good night sleep. The hotel has apparently a more modern section but there were no rooms left there so we had to stay in the 'classic' section. Hotel staff are friendly and they try to do the best with what they have. My advice is to make sure you are given a room in the modern section. There's a pool which is also dated but they have some sort of machinery constantly working there so it's noisy. Breakfast was good with a selection of fresh fruits and some cereals. The hotel says 5* but this is hardly the case it will be a European 2* or 3* but that's pushing !
My son and I just completed a four night visit to Barranquilla as I wanted to revisit the city I had lived in as a teenager in the 1960's. We could not have chosen a better hotel for our visit. The staff were warm and accommodating, the food and service outstanding, and the rooms, lobby and other public areas very appealing and comfortable. The hotel is ideally situated astride the residential district ( Prado ) that I lived in many years ago and a thriving new ( to me ) commercial area. There are many fine restaurants in the area, particularly along Carrera 52 just a few blocks from the Country International. The hotel represents amazing value with service that was always delivered with a warm smile. I left Barranquilla with the same warm memories as I did many many years ago. This hotel is a beautiful and cost-efficient place to stay. It is located right in the heart of Barranquilla and close by a centro commercial and other outlets. There are several types of cuisine within walking distance as well. The hotel has marble floors and lovely furniture. The staff is friendly and helpful and the mattresses are very comfortable!
I have been staying at the Hotel Country since 1998. It is my go to hotel. Excellent service and really good value. I do hope they change the lobby music though. The trance which was audible throughout the public areas as well as our 2nd floor room was very tiring.
I went to Barranquilla from August 11 thru the 24. My trip was for my wife (Colombian), to visit her family. I did stay at the Country Inn, which was a very nice Hotel and a plesant stay. I had a nice Junior Suite for the two weeks that I was their. The room was always kept very clean, when I always returned from my morning breakfast (Left small tips for the housekeeps), Maybe I has some minor issues, my first couple of days at the hotel, but really nothing, because everything was corrected immediately. The morning Colombian Breakfast was great! And I looked forward to it every morning, especially the fresh juices, and the great Colombian coffee, which was delcious. I did have some physical issues during my trip with the heat and the humidity, which was dam extreme. At times, I would have arthritic flare ups in my lower back. The hotel staff always told me, if I needed a Doctor, they would call one for me (Free of Charge)! I never took them up on their offer, because the Alieve I brought from the States seem to help. The Staff at the Hotel are top notch, very very nice and accomadaiting to all my needs. Another big postive of this Hotel is that it is centrally located in Barranquilla. Their are many stores, resturants, and a Mall very nearby. Again, Buffet Breakfast at the Hotel is just GREAT! If you want good service, which you will get either way, I always managed to leave a small tip for my servers! The next day, at the resturant, you could say I was treated more royally (U do not have to tip)! ! Just something to remember! On weekends, the Hotel would have Wedding Receptions, or parties, so if you are a light sleeper, try to get a room on the higher floors because the music does get a little loud. But the parties never seemed to bother me. In a previous comment on TripAdvisor,on this hotel, I read that someone was robbed. I have to say personally that I never came even close to that. A couple of times I left my mini safe open by mistake, which I had some valuables (Each room has a mini safe) but when I returned from my day out in the town, nothing, and I mean nothing was ever missing. I felt very, very comfortable at this hotel, and I would highly recommend it, over other Brand Hotels in the City. I would would have no problems returnning to this Hotel...its A-1/Excellent! And the value? U can´t beat it
