There were several weddings during our stay and it was ridiculously loud with music playing into the morning, literally past 2:00am! It’s very rude and inconsiderate to the other guests not here for the weddings. We could not sleep during our stay, even with our windows closed. It’s ruined our vacation. If you are not attending a wedding. I would not stay here. Very disappointed in Marriott!

We have been here several days and couldn’t have been more pleased. I happened to be near check in when a previous reviewer was complaining about lack of valet parking, etc. I’m not sure why he expected more courteous staff, when he was so RUDE to everyone around. I was impressed with how gracefully the staff handled the situation! Our stay has been lovely. Yes, the drive up is a challenge, but it at the top of a mountain,so you should expect twists and turns. Parking is a little difficult (steep hill), but we had no problem getting someone to help with bags. The front desk staff have been extremely helpful in giving fabulous driving directions and advice on what to see in the area. The breakfast is very nice by European standards and dining room staff have been very accommodating. They even provide a pot of America coffee at the table.

We were looking forward to spending a few days at this resort and realized we made a mistake and will never return. Upon arrival after a 4 hour drive we learned that there is no staff to great you, no staff to help with luggage, no valet or parking attendant and limited self park. They also informed us that only twin bedrooms were available even though we reserved a king room 6 months prior . Breakfast buffet was bland and only one attendant for over 100 people . Usually Renaissance Marriotts have a certain standard but this one misses the mark unfortunately. Rooms are very small and the spa was never open or staffed. Also- the wifi was out

This is an incredible hotel. The views are amazing. Very peaceful and relaxing. The staff is very helpful. The setting is very peaceful. This is truly an undiscovered gem. I would recommend it to anyone for any occasion.

My husband and I hosted our wedding here . It was a 3 day Indian wedding with 85 guests. We hadn’t visited the place prior to the wedding, so we didn’t know what to expect... as soon as we arrived we were blown away by the view, the facilities and the staff! Cinzia was accomodating to all of our needs, and made us feel at home. We highly recommend hosting your wedding here. There are different venues and locations around the resort which keeps it fun and interesting - there is even a club for the after party! We are so grateful to have found such a gem of Italy. My husband and I cant wait to come back for our anniversary! Must see!!

OMG!! This hotel location was a complete surprise! We booked based on the Marriott/Renaissance reputation and were totally wowed at the beauty of the location and the comfort of the hotel/resort. You are isolated at this location and you will need to walk or take a taxi (no Uber) to either the town of Barga or the train station to take the train to Lucca. Walking to Barga would be about 45 mins each way since this hotel is up a small mountain! Taxi to get to Barga for additional restaurants other wise the hotel has a couple of restaurants onsite to get a good meal. Taking the train to Lucca is very easy and cheap at less than 10 euros each way. The train stops at many stations along the way but it ends at Lucca. We took a taxi to Lucca and it cost a total for 6 adults 130 euros!! Sticker shock but we had no choice at the time. Be sure to verify with the driver that they will take credit card before you get in the vehicle! We would love to return to this hotel and just stay onsite! The beauty of this location and the wonderful service we got from the staff makes it a gem! As a base for visiting Lucca, not the easiest or cost effective. Now we know.

Myself and my planning team recently held a beautiful 3 day Indian wedding at Il Ciocco and the staff could not do enough to assist us and the guests attending. Throughout a year of planning, responses were quick and thorough. The staff delivers and has a high standard of customer service. I appreciated the fact that I could always rely on a quick response to my many questions – even in highest season from the event team. Cinzia, the vice-director, heads a great, well-coordinated team and is highly experienced. Answering questions even at the oddest hours. The views over Barga are grand and the fact that this is an all inclusive resort allows guests to really check out from the world and enjoy Tuscan hospitality. The hotel’s cuisine is excellent and the feedback from our clients was outstanding on all fronts. In short a winner all around. Rosanna

Our room wasn't ready at checkin so we went to the bar for a drink and a snack. When we got our room, we didn't unpack because it was raining just inside the door from the aircon grille. I asked for another room but was told that was not possible because the hotel was full (really?? it doesn't deserve 100% occupancy). Maintenance came promptly enough and sorted it but we we had an impossibly soggy carpet. Housekeeping came and vacuumed it but there was no mat offered. We used the bathrobes as mats so we could walk to the wardrobe. The next day those trampled bathrobes weren't replaced but merely hung up! All in all, understaffed and those that are there are very Italian rather than with international standards of service. In contrast, the lovely reception staff at the Marriott Moscow Tverskaya (May 2019 visit) put this place to shame. Lovely scenery, though.

My friend and I enjoyed one night at the Renaissance Il Ciocco on our travels through Tuscany. My only regret is that we could not stay longer! The views are stunning (given more time I would love to hike in these mountains) and the resort is as well. Antonia checked us in and made us feel so welcome, offering to make dinner reservations for us (and giving us a thumbs up when she heard where we'd already planned to eat). We had a late lunch/snack on the bar terrace and breakfast there the next morning. The food was fresh and tasty, and the service friendly and efficient. We only had a little time on our departure day to enjoy the pool but it was sparkling clean and refreshing. I would definitely recommend, and would stay here if we're lucky enough to return.

Il Ciocco is beautiful with the most stunning views. I go to Barga most years and this is the most beautiful place to stay. Only downside for me was the distance to Barga and lack of transport back and forward meant I had to drive most nights.
