nice neighborhood, large apartment but note there is NO BALCONY and no smoke alarms
This was a large bright apartment (the kitchen is very dark, without windows but the dining area and bedrooms are all bright) in a nice neighborhood. good nice clean tile floors. the shades and windows worked great. opened and closed easily . it smelled good. very easy to walk to the Metro, good cafes and restaurants all over the place. perfect location. quiet neighbors. the host was a fantastic communicator, always answered very quickly and was very helpful. our cabby took us to the wrong address! and the lady waited for us to walk to the apt from where we were dropped off. they have someone check you in to make sure you are all ok. also to show your passport and pay a small tax. we were surprised that the wifi came up on our phone as "low security," and there were no blankets in the apt at all, we used bedspreads from the other beds, the AC was loud and worked best in the main room, but good enough for our stay as there were only 2 of us, if a larger party some might have been hotter, there was no laundry detergent for the washer, no coffee for the coffee maker, there was no soap dish in the shower, you put your soap on the shower floor! the shower drain was loose, easily kicked off, there were not towel racks in the powder room, no kitchen towels provided, no little trash cans in the kitchen or bathrooms, in fact only 1 trash bag was given, that we had to use for all the trash in the apt, 2 bathrooms and kitchen, we could not find instructions for the washing machine, nor check out instructions re the trash--finally the host told us you are supposed to walk a block away to take out the trash! I think the cleaners should do this as that is not reasonable to ask people to do. we figured out the complex barcelona recycling system and there is also compost in barcelona--but trash and compost were a block away as above. the recycling was closer. the balcony did not exist as they had the heat pump unit on it. even if it did exist the street was a bit too busy to really sit on it. but it didnt exist. the doorknob always fell off but it was ok as you didn't need it. All in all this place had great bones in a great residential neighborhood just needed some small touches and I would take the balcony off of the listing. we bought a smoke alarm at a local store so we could sleep without worrying. apparently it is not a regulation to have these in Barcelona, so be aware of that. thanks!
