Been before but this time not so good, last time breakfast was included, this time no. Room was small, paid extra for balcony but to small to use, reception staff very very poor never spoke, smiled, or talked to you, never even looked at you only to ask you to pay, I booked direct with them and you receive a e mail saying because of this you get a welcoming free gift, but of course you dont. Shame as I have been a few times, last time there were 12 in my party, but sorry, I will look for a better hotel next time, there are plenty to choose from.
Great location. The Barceloneta metro station is very close (2-3min walking distance). The rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. The hotel staff are not very friendly. And the breakfast is horrible.
Friendly clean and good priced hotel. Easy walk to marina with great food. 1 block to subway (with elevator access). 15 Euro gets a cab to cruise ships and Barcelona Sants. Hop-on-Hop-off bus 1 1/2 block away from front of hotel. Did not do breakfast - opted for cheaper (less expensive) 3 blocks away. Only warning - people sleek on the sidewalk 2 blocks away (along the main street going to the marina)
Stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is good overall considering the price. Excellent location, good sized rooms, bathroom, basically everything you would expect in a regular hotel. However the breakfast was absolutely terrible! There are plenty of good restaurants nearby that serve an excellent breakfast. Use those and save yourself the torture of starting your day by eating the filth served at this hotel!
Hotel Del Mar is in the Plaza Palacio with some nice little cocktail bars near by. It is a short walk from the Marina and a few minutes walk from the ramblas. The hop on hop off buses can be joined within a few minutes walk. The hotel itself is quite compact but the rooms were really clean and staff were friendly. I would definitely stay here again.
Great location bus stop outside the front entrance and 5 minutes walk to nearest metro and good helpful staff, it's dated but clean and does the job for a hotel where you can get anywhere lots if restaurants and bars close by. I would recommend this as a place to stay when visiting Barcelona
My husband took me to celebrate my 50th birthday and our silver wedding anniversary. Lovely hotel, perfectly situated easy walking distance to most attractions. We had a beautiful view of the port and square from our balcony The room was lovely but very hot. No air conditioning had to sleep with door open which could be very noisy with traffic, revellers and sirens throughout the night. We were both badly badly bitten by mosquitos! Bed was very comfy. Staff friendly and nothing too much trouble. Breakfast average. Same each day. Good choice of drinks.however it would have been nice to have bar facilities/ tea/coffee making facilities in rooms rather than a vending machine. I would stay there again if we return to Barcelona.
My wife and myself stayed at this hotel for 5 nights from the 19 March and the stay was very enjoyable. Before we arrived i emailed the hotel to ask for a good view as the trip was for my wife's 50th birthday, they replied saying they would do their best, and true to their word we had a room on the top floor(nos 405)with a large terrace and fantastic 180 deg views over the city and port. The only minor problem with the room is that there is no air con. and with the patio doors open on some nights the traffic was quite noisy but this is to be expected in a city. The breakfast was ok but could be improved, the staff, from front of desk to the cleaning staff, were friendly and polite and spoke far better English than i did Spanish.
This hotel is in a superb location, close to the marina, Gothic Centre and some excellent bars and restaurants. The hotel is very clean, bedrooms were cleaned on a daily basis, they were spotless and comfortable. Breakfast was included and was very nice, with a varied amount of choice, I would have enjoyed tomatoes as well, to have with my bacon and cheese but that's more of a personal preference. The hotel staff were helpful and went out of there way to assist you, if there were any problems, or advice required. The hotel is in an excellent position and is fantastic value for money, I would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel and hopefully will do very soon.
The hotel is very close to the metro which helped. However, it's an easy walk to the beach and the sunsets are brilliant. Also, the harbor with the giant boats and yachts is a must see. The Gothic Quarter is a quaint little place to walk the streets and see all the shops and restaurants. The rooms are fine but need new towels b/c they are paper thin. Our room overlooked the street and had wonderful doors to open and get fresh air which was great. They need more English speaking people at the front desk b/c that was a problem. The breakfast buffet was small and food not so tasty so we only ate there one day. The bed was comfortable and room was clean.
