Hotel Del Mar3.0 out of 5.0

We stayed at the hotel del mar on a short 3 night trip , had a twin room which only looked out into the inner court yard but didn't matter as we only in the room to sleep basically. The hotel is in a great location , close to the marina and lots of bars and restaurants, and a short walk to Las Ramblas. We did use the hotel for breakfast which was basic but fine and you can help yourself to cereal , fruit , yogurt , cold meats, cheese and a selection of bacon sausage boiled eggs etc though a couple of mornings there was a delay with clearing the tables. Overall a comfortable hotel, decent breakfast and great location
We stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is close to the port, a short walk to the beach and to the metro station and there is a bus stop outside the hotel. The room and bathroom were large and very clean although could do with updating. It would have been nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The staff were very friendly and helpful in informing us the best way to get around the city.
It is in the heart of Barcelona close to the beach. It surrounded by restaurants. The are multiple bus stops right in front of the hotel and metro station close by. Within walking distance of the Rambla. The room was large had a seating room and the bedroom. The bathroom is luxurious and very spacious. The only con is that our room was a bit noisy during the day but at night is pretty quiet. But that was because we were a low floor next to the street personally I slept like a baby with no issues and I hate noise and lights at night.
Great location just steps away from the seaport and Barceloneta Lot of places to eat, lots of tapa joints, bars, near the metro area and places to buy souvenirs and many other things.Awesome ambience The hotel is clean, friendly staff
Super hotel spotlessly clean rooms and well equipped. Staff very helpful, when one of our party had a fall a wheelchair was organised within an hour and in our room a tap wouldn't work properly this was fixed immediately by installation of new taps. This hotel though 3 stars is in great location minutes from the sea front ,the Gotic quarter and transport links. Breakfast good and plentiful. Would recommend
My Boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel del Mar for 3 night for a weekend city break. The location is the best thing about this hotel - 15 minute walk to the beach and a 2 minute walk to Barceloneta station which was a main line metro to Sagrada Familia (14 minutes to Plau de Palau, then a five minute walk). Room was very clean with replenished daily with fresh towels and bed linen. Lovely view from room balcony onto the square. Large telly although all channels in Spanish, definitely authentic! Use of the safe was €2 a night. Room was a good size with very good shower, best pressure of a hotel shower I have ever come across! Staff were friendly but Day staff definitely spoke better English. Only issues were with the buffet breakfast - no fried eggs or fresh bread rolls ! We ended up eating at Milk bar & bistro - bit of a wait but definitely worth it ! Also our mirror in the room needed replacing - but overall ro was more than adequate we stayed in room 208. Would definitely book this hotel again but not go for the buffet breakfast. There is also a great Mexican bar/restaurant under the hotel called Oxaca Cuina which stays open till 1 for drinks !
I would definitely return to this hotel. Very central location and the staff were always very friendly and happy to help with any request. Our room didn't have a balcony and overlooked the square opposite the hotel, but nonetheless very tranquil. The room itself was fantastic, spacious, comfy beds, awesome power shower with endless hot water, Honestly really enjoyed it there as did my young children. The configuration of the room worked well with the extra bed, and to my childrens delight that meant 2 tv's!!!! So no fights over what to watch. Which was a godsend in the end as we were there during the recent terror attack and spent more time in the room than we had planned to. All in all we enjoyed our stay very much at Hotel del Mar. We thank you and look forward to returning to your beautiful city!!
We booked this hotel through their own hotel page with info about early check in (from 10 am, and late check out until 14 (subject to availability), a welcome gift, aircondition etc etc. The early check in and late check out was also a big reason for booking this hotel. When we arrived around 11 am on the monday morning we stand in a que with people checking out. When it was our turn they just said - no there is no early check in - just come back later. Not asking a question about our names or what kind of room types we had booked (so they actually had no idea if our room was available or not). We did not get any welcome gift and we got a room (the one we booked with a terrace) with a terrible air condition. I promise you - i have never ever had such a warm temperature in a hotel room before. We told the hotel about this and they said they would fix it but nothing really happend, still to warm. Same thing when checking out the info on the home page is - ask the day before. A very rude receptionist told us that more or less no hotel has late check out, they dont tell that the day before and that we perhaps could check the upcoming day when it was time to check out - giving us no chans to do any plans - we just had to pack our things and leave the town early in the morning. Also this time they did not check who we were and if our room was before telling us we were not able to get the info the day before. The staff on this hotel (that we met) need to take care of their guests not answering in the rude way they do. You are nothing without your hotels guest and the least thing you can do is to listen to us when we are explaining what we have booked and been informed about. There was one guy helping us up to our room that was very nice but all the other front desk staff we met really need to think twice over their service delivery. You are selling a product with different info and then you have to be able to deliver this or otherwise give a good reason why you are not able to do this. The hotel has a location in between the older area of the town and the barcelonetta - yes. But that is (more or less) the only good thing we experienced during our trip. The terrace had one chair for two persons and one sun bed for two persons. The sleeping bed is really really small and as the air condition is not delivering in a sufficient way it was very hard to get some sleep. The room is also very small - the terrace not so small but with a view on a building opposite - not the sea or so. There is also not any refrigerator in the room so chilling yourself down with some cold water is also impossible. I would definitly choose another hotel and if you despite this choose to book the hotel - i see no reason to do it through the hotels own home page.
Pretty ordinary but we had a clean room and nice bathroom with plenty of hot water. Our room had a balcony which was a plus. Unfortunately the aircon didn't work & the room was stifling so we left the doors onto the balcony open. Consequently we were bitten excessively by mosquitos which I accept was not directly the managements fault but it was the result of the faulty aircon being a lack of maintenance. My granddaughter arrived 2 days later which we had booked the same time only to be told that there wasn't an available room. However, this was dealt with professionally and she was accommodated at a nearby hotel, much, much nicer & the breakfast was thrown in. Makes one wonder how their booking system works?
Perfect location. Easy walking to port and ramblas. Some nice bars in the area for cocktails. Room was clean and large. Staff friendly. Bathroom was clean. Beds comfortable. TV in the room. Short walk to hop on and hop off bus stop.
