Upgraded to Hotel Advance when another hotel had over booked. Lovely rooms, great customer service, safe, close to ammenities, 10 minutes to hop on hop off buses, 15 minutes to Gothic Church. Felt safe and travelling alone 😄.
This hotel was not in the middle of Barcelona but a good ten minute walk from La Rambla, which we liked as quieter. The hotel was clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was supplied with the accommodation and was good. There is not bar on restaurant on site.
We stayed here for three nights last week. The location was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful. So they were the positives. We were extremely disappointed to find that there was NO restaurant here and NO bar. Breakfast (minimal) consisted of items being brought out to the hotel lobby and that's where we had to eat!! Breakfast was supposed to start at 7am but on our final morning we had to leave by 7:30am to go to the airport and the hot food (what there was of it) didn't arrive out until 7:25am, so we had no time to eat it. Also, there seemed to be a continuous smell in the lobby, not sure whether it was coming from outside or what, but it was a foul smell. Also, no tea making facilities in the rooms and the heat was very difficult to control, it was either roasting or cold - nothing in between.
It is almost 4 stars... to me. I can only say that our experience was only 3 star. Had a lovely stay at the hotel but it just lacked a 4 star experience. Decor was definately a classy 4 star. But it’s the small things that let it down. We stayed in room 504. This is a 5 floor hotel. No gym, no swimming pool, no jacuzzi, Spa or bar. What can be improved? In a tripple room for 2 parents and a child it... only has 2 glasses? Should be 3 glasses. I’m sure the staff would have given an extra glass had we have asked... but it should have been there. Toilet door is stylish smoked glass with no lock mechanism. It’s a family trpple room and parents don’t want children walking in whilst they're in the bathroom. I’m sure there is a suitable solution to this lock problem without ruining the stylishness of the bathroom door. Key card for room has been printed incorrectly. There is a black semi-circle on the edge of the keycard which is to signify where you should hold the card whilst inserting it in the slot... it’s on the wrong edge. Breakfast is the most limited I’ve seen at a 4 star hotel. Croissants, toast, scrambled eggs, mini sausages, a few cereals and juices. Add to this, they have the scrambled egg and sausages in the same serving dish which automatically prevents Jewish and muslim people from enjoying the scrambled eggs. Not good if youre trying to get lots of middle-eastern customers. The tongs to handle the sausages should be kept well away from the spoon you get scrambled eggs... for kosher/halal reasons. Trip advisor says that hotel offers massages... wrong. No information on cost of items in mini-bar. Coffee machine in breakfast area for is only there until 11am... after which it’s €3 a cup. No in-room tea/coffee supply. Overall this is a good pitstop hotel beautifully decorated. If you plan on being out all day and using the hotel as a base, then book it. It’s centrally located and is an easy commute to most tourist sites. Hotel Advance do often respond to reviews left by customers with ‘we will take note/ endeavor to make improvements’ but from the reviews left by other previous customers over the last few years, they seemed to have failed to address any of the issues. Management need to get a grip. Before reviews like this start affecting business. Thank you for your hospitality.
Absolutely loved staying at this place. The room and the front desk was par excellence. Ideal location right in the city centre yet on a peaceful street. Walking distance to Las Ramblas, Gran Via and very near the subway station. I stayed when the Catalonia separation movement was at its peak. On the day of our departure a general strike had been called hence no taxis, buses, trains, subways or any transport was available. I was travelling with my wife and my 7 month old son. Less said the better it was total chaos. I must mention the wonderful staff at this place who tried their level best to get me taxi. I am not sure whether he was the manager but an elderly gentleman from the staff was kind enough to run across multiple blocks to help us out. Unfortunately he failed as a result had to lug 2 suitcases along with the pram for quite a distance. Whatever the outcome I will always remember that gentleman's effort.
We stayed at Hotel Advance for two nights at the beginning of our vacation to Spain. We took the Aerobus from the airport to the Placa Catalunya and it was a short walk (15-20 minutes) to the hotel. We were greeted warmly at the front desk and given helpful information of what to see and do in the city. Our room was spacious, quiet and comfortable. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood away from the tourist noise but within walking distance of everything we wanted to see and do. Breakfast in the morning offered hot and cold choices and was very filling. Barcelona is a beautiful, clean city filled with so many sights and things to do - and so much good food. Thank you for a lovely stay and hope to return again soon.
We arrived in Barcelona at 1am so needed somewhere that we could check-in in the middle of the night and there was someone always at the desk. Granted, many places have 24 hour concierge but some were difficult for actually checking in. We quite literally walked in the door and were handed our room key. The Queen room was actually 2 large twins which was perfect because I love a king bed so was excited about that! Nice and firm too. The bathroom was large and the room clean and quite large for Barcelona. The location was really good too as it was just on the edge of the main - egg shaped area - we were able to walk everywhere. Overall - clean, modern and good location.
The hotel is located fairly centrally, close to the Plaza de la Universidad, and within walking distance of Plaza de Catalunya and Passeig de Gracia. The room was spacious and comfortable, although the view was not spectacular (it was a back room), but it was very quiet. Staff was nice and friendly. Wifi was good. A good choice for Barcelona, although a little more expensive than other options further away.
The hotel is located near universtat place, 10 minute walk from Catalunia placa. We actually walked to all major attractions and night life places besides Segrada familia, in any case L2 metro is near by and you can use the metro when needed. Nice places to eat lunch coffee shops and supermarkets near the hotel. The rooms are modern , clean and specious. Continental breakfast was good. Overall , good and recommended.
Came across this hotel last minute on booking the pictures don't really do it justice ,clean modern hotel located 5 mins walk from las ramblas worth its 4 star rating breakfast was 15 euro extra not a huge range but something for everyone we had 1st level rooms that had a balcony at the rear super quiet at least at the rear would come back again
