This place is horrible and I am sad that my family an I did not believe the bad ratings. All of them are true and it is even worse. 1. Check In with computer does not work at all, name not recognized . Number to call reception does not work. Mobile phone number - first person does not speak english. Long time in waiting line. 2. In the end we were allowed to leave our luggage in the room for 10 Euro as it was before 4 pm. Really entering the room would have been 50 Euro extra! 3. Internet is super slow. Faster internet costs 3 Euro. Once you have decided for slow internet, it is virtually impossible with your computer to find the way how to upgrade. 4. Rooms are not clean. Very dusty. 5. Beds have very bad quality. 6. In the whole house there is not even a soap! 7. Shower can be either hot or water pressure but not both. 8. In the middle of the night the key card does not work any more. Good that somebody else came and helped us in. 9. Next morning for check out nobody could be reached for 1 hour via phone on the given number. 10. When somebody was reached, I was told, that in the basement there is a locker machine for another 10 Euro 11.Guess what? Locker machine was of course broken. We were instead allowed to leave luggage in the room for 10 Euro 12. When we came back to pick up the luggage of course we could not get into the house again. Reception hotline did not answer again. In the end we rang every bell in the house and a cleaning lady let us in so that we could pick up the staff. Yes, and a lot of people in the house had similar problems.. This is so unacceptable. For the money you make with this apartment house, I think it would not be too much to ask to have a receptionist for 2x3 hours per day to save all the hassle - and to clean the furniture, buy soap and give free internet. We hope that many people read this and decide for a different place.
We read the reviews about this place the check in issues. I'm glad we did not experience it but I'd seen few customers not able to check -in and we were able to assist them. We stayed in a 3 bedrooms and the room was very clean. KUDOS to Carmin and Elle for making our place very clean. Location is good, closed to Metro station Sant Pau Hospital. There are few restaurants and bars around the block and mini groceries at the corner. We walked to Sagrada Familia for 20 mins and 30 mins to Parc Guell. Facilities are great. Just need to change their towels, it smells even it's newly washed. Overall we had a great stay on this residence.
We stayed at the Castro Exclusive residences for 2 nights recently. The apartments are large - two bedrooms and two full bathrooms with a generous living room. We didn't use the kitchen but it seemed more than well equipped. The beds were comfortable, the AC was good. The location was ok - not much around it - but there is a metro stop about a block and a half away. The reasons I'm not giving this place four stars is because: 1. The listing said Wifi was included. The included Wifi is slow as heck and you have to pay 3 euro a day in order to connect all devices and get a decent speed. The apartments aren't cheap so this felt pretty nickle-and-dimeish. 2. Checking in was hard. They said we could do an early check in, but the computer at the front door didn't recognize my reservation before the 4pm check in period so I had to take my phone off airplane mode and call them (incurring an international fee) in order to call them and figure it out. Early check in wasn't available but they offered storage lockers for $10 euro each instead. Again, nickle and dime- most hotels that charge this much offer luggage storage for free. 3. Check out was unclear. So not a terrible option, especially knowing these things up front.
In summary the automated processes for check in, room cards, building access and chargeable lockers for left luggage after 11am check out are all a bit clunky and poorly communicated. I had to personally resolve problems with the lighting in one of the bedrooms, despite reporting the issue after our first night in the apartment. The only accessible WIFI wasn't included in the room charge. The emphasis on service is really focussed on charging extra wherever possible. The rooms were ok but not quite as nice as they appear in the pictures and therefore over priced for the location which is a bit too far from the city for the basic facilities and slightly used condition. The experience wasn't at all drastic but in our experience it's to be avoided if you want a relaxing hassle free break.
I have returned to visit my favorite city and casually I have found the best price for a full equipped apartment on the castro exclusive residences website. As I was happy last year when I was here I decided to repeat my experience, this time in the neighborhood of sant pau, much more quiet to travel with the family.
I stayed with 3 friends in June 2017 in a 2 bed apartment. The apartment was lovely, really well decorated, clean and spacious. The beds were comfy and 2 bathrooms was handy. Wi-fi was average, had to be in the front room to get anything to refresh. The location is abit far out of the centre but there are lots of metro stops nearby which was fine. We got a 3 day pass for unlimited trips on the metro. However there was a big negative to the weekend, and that was checking in and out. Upon check in, there was a screen by the door. This didn't recognise my surname or booking number despite triple-checking the email. A resident let us in as they left. We had the same issue with the main check in machine in the foyer. Didn't recognise our booking ref or surname. After about 5 times it recognised my details. It produced a keycard and no information. How do we get into the rooms? How do we unlock/lock the doors? Nothing is explained and you have to figure it out for yourselves. After a 4am start this is not what you want to be doing. Finally a cleaner gave us our keys. But i couldn't help but think; what if we had arrived at 10/11pm? No-one is around and the apartment is on a quiet street. Checking out was equally stressfull. No info on what to do with keycards so its guess work! The number they give you to ring is awful. Hung up on us twice and absoulely no advice or help given. A waste of money for minutes. Lovely apartment but its ruined by the check in experience. You want to just get into your room after travelling, not sit in a hot foyer trying to get through to someone on the phone about how to unlock your room door!
When booking online as I did, confirm with castro by phone as they will send you a direct email. I booked a 5 person app.. it was really nice and well decorated. Cleanliness at it's best, mini markets are around the corner too. 10/10 for a good price. 30min walk to park guell and 15min walk to Sagrada Familiga. The small issues are the pillows, they need better pillows for sure and the door we had some trouble opening the buliding door sometimes had to call them but really small issues. I reccomend them to nice stay in Barcelona
The apartment deserves maximum rating for comfort, decorations and tidiness.The only improvements which would help are: easier check-in (the machine sometimes doesn't work properly) and wi-fi password availability in the apartment.
I stayed at castro sant pau for 5days with 13 other guest. We arrived and had a slight problem with checking in however a lady on the phone was very helpful and we managed to check in quicker then I had thought. We booked 3 apartments and ours was 3 bedroom deluxe apartment. As I got to my room I was surprised to see 1 double bed, 2 single beds and 1 single bed. There was 2 couples and 1 child. At the time of the booking I requested 2 double beds and 1 single bed and I was assured that would be possible therefore I called the helpline and was told someone would come and fix this before 7pm the day we checked in. This did not happen, I waited 3 hours with 13 other people (baring in mind we had early morning flight all hungry and unhappy) it was now 8pm no one arrived so I called the helpline again and was told no one is here at the moment to come and check and will happen the following day before 10am. We all woke up nice and early had breakfast waiting for someone to come so we can leave and enjoy the rest of the day and unfortunately it was now 12pm still no sign. So I then called the helpline and asked someone very nicely that I had been waiting for since the morning and as promised no one has turned up again! The woman kept putting me on hold and hardly understood what i was saying (language barrier) at the point I had given up and thought I will not get this in the way of our trip! So me and my husband decided to join the beds ourself instead but because of such small space we was unable to move the beds around! This was my second time staying at barcelona and I love the city however I will never be using this hotel/apartment again! The lay out is beautiful, a few scratches here and there on the wooden floor and beds apartment 2.3 room door broken, takes you good 5min to open the door. (THE MAIN ENTRANCE DOOR IS BROKEN SO ANYONE CAN WALK BY PUSHING THE DOOR OPEN WE HAD REPORTED THIS TO THE HELPLINE WHEN WE WERE THERE FOR THE 5DAYS NOTHING HAD CHANGED HOPEFULLY THIS WILL MAKE THEM AWARE AND EVERYONE WILL FEEL SAFER AS WE DIDN'T)
This hotel-apt has many advantages: just two minutes walk to the Sant Pau Line 4 metro station making it easy to be smacked in the middle of Barcelona Catalonia Pl. in just 20 minutes , many bars, restaurants and super market nearby. The apartments are large ( 2-3 bedrooms with living area and large LCD's ), modern and well equipped including washing machine,dishwasher and anything you need for home cooking down to smallest details. it has large kitchen and two nice bathrooms. They change the beds and towels every 2-3 days which is sufficient. Staff are very nice. the only drawback is that it does not have receptionist and checking in might be kind of unusual and sometimes challenging. During our 20 night stay , we did not face any problems. My suggestion is that the hotel start using a receptionist or let the nearby supermarket handle the check in!!! it was a great stay. By the way they have a 24 hours hot line in case you have any questions or problem.
