We checked in at about 6:30 pm with the check-in machine and were provided a card key. But we were not able to open the door of our apartment with the key. I called the contact centre and they provided us two more cards but they didn't work at all. We asked to send us a person to help. The voice over the phone said that they could send a person but they could not know when he or she would get there. We waited and waited and waited but there was no one coming. "Fortunately" we managed to enter our apartment at about 9:30 pm with the metal key which we happened to find from the key box. There was nothing they had helped us open the door. There were some problems in our apartment but that was not surprising at all - the TV without a remote, a broken toaster, a broken hair dryer, and a leak in the handbasin.
Fantastic appartment. Was a little apprehensive having read some reviews on here but needn't have been. We stayed in the 3 bedroom Appartment and it was stunning. Modern, contemporary and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen with everything you need and more including washing up liquid! 2 bathrooms (one en-suite), hairdryers in both, toothbrushes, shower gels & shampoo. Each of the Bedrooms spacious with fitted wardrobes and colour co-ordinated blinds to match bedding. Nice lounge/dining area and a large balcony with clothes airer. Very clean, and cleaners every third day. If had to be picky, the card to access main door didn't work at first but as soon as reported it was resolved within the hour and fine from then. Wi-Fi was slow at times, reported it and again up and running by the next day. Location was ideal, 4 supermarkets in close proximity furthest one being within at maximum 5 minute walk of Appartment. Hospital over road and metro station and taxi rank five minutes. Tour bus ten minutes. No noise on a night. Would absolutely recommend and want to go back again!
After reading previous reviews we were dubious about this place, but we had very few small issues. The automated check in is a bit fiddly but luckily worked fine for us. Only one key for 3 of us was a bit of a bother but we managed. The rooms were spotlessly clean, a little worn, such as PVC peeling off dining chairs and the sofa was a bit scuffed but everything was clean and usable. Everything you could need in kitchen and the bedrooms were well equipped. The tube station was 2 minutes walk away and there was lots of eating places and little super markets close by. The TV in front room did not work but after trying one in bedroom we discovered only one English speaking chanel and that was Al Jazeera so no use to us. There was a safe in the main bedroom which was really useful. So in short if you want to stay in room and watch TV and use internet this is probably no good to you, but if you want a clean comfortable apartment were you can make a bite to eat , have a good shower and sleep in a clean comfortable bed, with easy access to a tube station then you cant go wrong. We would definitely stay here again. But we may have been lucky because on the evening before we left a family were trying to get in the room next door for over two hours, they booked in fine but the key would not open apartment door and because there is no reception or person on site, all they could do was keep ringing the number and hoping for someone to sort it. Having said that, they were the only people we saw having problems.
We spent 3 month living there, of course we experienced some issues related to the check in machine, doors, internet and calling to the reception that was not always attendig to the phone. But in general it was not as bad as some comments described. The personnel there is always trying to help and Carmen was the best. I would recommend the place without doubts.
This place is horrible and I am sad that my family an I did not believe the bad ratings. All of them are true and it is even worse. 1. Check In with computer does not work at all, name not recognized . Number to call reception does not work. Mobile phone number - first person does not speak english. Long time in waiting line. 2. In the end we were allowed to leave our luggage in the room for 10 Euro as it was before 4 pm. Really entering the room would have been 50 Euro extra! 3. Internet is super slow. Faster internet costs 3 Euro. Once you have decided for slow internet, it is virtually impossible with your computer to find the way how to upgrade. 4. Rooms are not clean. Very dusty. 5. Beds have very bad quality. 6. In the whole house there is not even a soap! 7. Shower can be either hot or water pressure but not both. 8. In the middle of the night the key card does not work any more. Good that somebody else came and helped us in. 9. Next morning for check out nobody could be reached for 1 hour via phone on the given number. 10. When somebody was reached, I was told, that in the basement there is a locker machine for another 10 Euro 11.Guess what? Locker machine was of course broken. We were instead allowed to leave luggage in the room for 10 Euro 12. When we came back to pick up the luggage of course we could not get into the house again. Reception hotline did not answer again. In the end we rang every bell in the house and a cleaning lady let us in so that we could pick up the staff. Yes, and a lot of people in the house had similar problems.. This is so unacceptable. For the money you make with this apartment house, I think it would not be too much to ask to have a receptionist for 2x3 hours per day to save all the hassle - and to clean the furniture, buy soap and give free internet. We hope that many people read this and decide for a different place.
We read the reviews about this place the check in issues. I'm glad we did not experience it but I'd seen few customers not able to check -in and we were able to assist them. We stayed in a 3 bedrooms and the room was very clean. KUDOS to Carmin and Elle for making our place very clean. Location is good, closed to Metro station Sant Pau Hospital. There are few restaurants and bars around the block and mini groceries at the corner. We walked to Sagrada Familia for 20 mins and 30 mins to Parc Guell. Facilities are great. Just need to change their towels, it smells even it's newly washed. Overall we had a great stay on this residence.
We stayed at the Castro Exclusive residences for 2 nights recently. The apartments are large - two bedrooms and two full bathrooms with a generous living room. We didn't use the kitchen but it seemed more than well equipped. The beds were comfortable, the AC was good. The location was ok - not much around it - but there is a metro stop about a block and a half away. The reasons I'm not giving this place four stars is because: 1. The listing said Wifi was included. The included Wifi is slow as heck and you have to pay 3 euro a day in order to connect all devices and get a decent speed. The apartments aren't cheap so this felt pretty nickle-and-dimeish. 2. Checking in was hard. They said we could do an early check in, but the computer at the front door didn't recognize my reservation before the 4pm check in period so I had to take my phone off airplane mode and call them (incurring an international fee) in order to call them and figure it out. Early check in wasn't available but they offered storage lockers for $10 euro each instead. Again, nickle and dime- most hotels that charge this much offer luggage storage for free. 3. Check out was unclear. So not a terrible option, especially knowing these things up front.
In summary the automated processes for check in, room cards, building access and chargeable lockers for left luggage after 11am check out are all a bit clunky and poorly communicated. I had to personally resolve problems with the lighting in one of the bedrooms, despite reporting the issue after our first night in the apartment. The only accessible WIFI wasn't included in the room charge. The emphasis on service is really focussed on charging extra wherever possible. The rooms were ok but not quite as nice as they appear in the pictures and therefore over priced for the location which is a bit too far from the city for the basic facilities and slightly used condition. The experience wasn't at all drastic but in our experience it's to be avoided if you want a relaxing hassle free break.
I have returned to visit my favorite city and casually I have found the best price for a full equipped apartment on the castro exclusive residences website. As I was happy last year when I was here I decided to repeat my experience, this time in the neighborhood of sant pau, much more quiet to travel with the family.
I stayed with 3 friends in June 2017 in a 2 bed apartment. The apartment was lovely, really well decorated, clean and spacious. The beds were comfy and 2 bathrooms was handy. Wi-fi was average, had to be in the front room to get anything to refresh. The location is abit far out of the centre but there are lots of metro stops nearby which was fine. We got a 3 day pass for unlimited trips on the metro. However there was a big negative to the weekend, and that was checking in and out. Upon check in, there was a screen by the door. This didn't recognise my surname or booking number despite triple-checking the email. A resident let us in as they left. We had the same issue with the main check in machine in the foyer. Didn't recognise our booking ref or surname. After about 5 times it recognised my details. It produced a keycard and no information. How do we get into the rooms? How do we unlock/lock the doors? Nothing is explained and you have to figure it out for yourselves. After a 4am start this is not what you want to be doing. Finally a cleaner gave us our keys. But i couldn't help but think; what if we had arrived at 10/11pm? No-one is around and the apartment is on a quiet street. Checking out was equally stressfull. No info on what to do with keycards so its guess work! The number they give you to ring is awful. Hung up on us twice and absoulely no advice or help given. A waste of money for minutes. Lovely apartment but its ruined by the check in experience. You want to just get into your room after travelling, not sit in a hot foyer trying to get through to someone on the phone about how to unlock your room door!
