Near Chianti Classico Wine Production

Located on top of one of the highest hills of the Chianti Classico area, this Villa was a castle fortified in the 12th century by the Vallombrosan monks. The stone façade faces a courtyard, closed by a crenelleted wall. The private garden overlooks the Chianti hills, offering an overwhelming view of the surroundings.

A complete restoration has brought the building back to its ancient splendour.

Inside, the medieval structure was decorated with Renaissance elements in pietra serena during the Quattrocento. All the rooms have wooden ceilings and floors paved with the original terracotta tiles.

On the ground floor there are two bedrooms with en suite bathroom, decorated with hand made glazed terracotta tiles; an ancient kitchen provided with modern cooking equipment, cooker, oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer, toaster, coffee machine and washing machine. The large dining room has a decorated stone fireplace and a sitting corner with satellite TV.

On the first floor, there are two double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a twin bedroom and a bathroom.

Outdoor, on the meadow, deck chairs around the pool allow to relax. A paved corner with wrought iron chairs and a large table is the perfect location for a drink or a dinner ‘with a view’: at sunset, it offers the magnificent show of the twilight in Chianti when the lights of the villages and country houses turn on one by one in the dark at night.

This small apartment, has a separate entrance, a cozy kitchen, a sitting room and a bathroom on the ground floor and a bedroom on the top floor. It is the ideal accomodation for those who want more privacy during their holiday with relatives and friends!

Amazing 12th-century Monks castle with views!

Poggio al Vento (hill of the wind) is a very special place. Originally a Monks castle from the 1100's, it has been painstakingly and lovingly restored by Pauline and her family. 4-foot thick walls of ancient stone make up the walls of this house. Amazing panoramic views abound from all windows and the yard. There is even a 12th-century chapel attached to the house, used by the monks for 1 special service per year, at the end of November. Pauline was kind enough to give us a tour of the chapel. It was an amazing and unforgettable experience. Two beautiful apartments (soon to be 3!) make up this wonderful building. All modern conveniences are included. Bathrooms are all modern and updated, as are the kitchens. Pauline made sure we had everything we needed, and was extremely helpful and attentive. She even met us in town and gave us a tour of the Badia in Badia A Passignano. This is a quiet country house. Time must be spent in the yard sipping wine, eating a fine meal, or just enjoying the views. The dirt road up to the house is not as bad as it first appears! We had a Mercedes sedan and a Fiat sedan, 2-wheel drive vehicles had no problem, even in heavy rain. We hope to return some day to Poggio Al Vento. It was an unforgettable true Chianti Tuscan experience.

Der in der Anzeige abgebildeter "Pool" ist ein besserer Planschbecken Ca. 3x4 m. mit hunderten toten Insekten. Rechts vom Haus ist ein Forstbetrieb. links eine Baustelle. Im Innenhof des Hauses existiert eine alte Kapelle (St. Andreä) die viele Wanderer und Besucher anzieht. Ruhe damit nicht möglich !! Wir haben das Haus nach einem Tag wieder verlassen !!!
