Aspen Cabin has been a rental for many years where families come back to enjoy their Maine summer and make great memories. Our summer months tend to be booked a year in advance.

Come enjoy this beautiful log cabin, sandy beach- Little Tunk Pond retreat! Aspen Cabin is surrounded by Schoodic and Black Mountains on a very private setting that allows you to think that you have this pond all to yourself! 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms will give your family plenty of space to relax inside or outside on the screened in porch after a day of hiking or visiting Acadia National Park. Outside you will find that we have a grill, great wooden swing, a fenced in area to let your dogs go for a run, 3 kayaks and a canoe. A great solo stove to sit around and have smores. If fishing is more your style we have plenty of that, with salmon and trout in Little Tunk. Maybe you would like to go for a swim, this pond is great for that and Big Tunk is just a short walk away! We have a generator all hooked up to immediately switch over if power is ever lost. Aspen Cabin is here to offer you the peace of getting away in the woods while still maintaining all of the comforts of home! We are 45-60 minutes away from Bar Harbor and 20 minutes away from the Schoodic Peninsula.
The cabin is air-conditioned and features a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and a balcony, and there's space to spread out with 3 bedrooms. Guests can enjoy a TV and stay connected with free WiFi. Other standard amenities include a washing machine, a fenced private yard, and a coffee maker.

We had a fabulous stay at the Aspen cabin. The kids swam and paddled for hours in the beautiful pristine water of Little Tunk. The sunsets and then the stars in the clear dark sky were spectacular! We are definitely excited to return next summer.

Annual Family Mountain Retreat

We vacation in the vicinity of Acadia every year with family. Growing up going to a cabin of a family friend in Sedgewick, she sold her property a couple of years ago. We have continued to come back in search of somewhere comparable: a cozy cabin on the water with kayaks, a fire pit for smores, a reasonable driving distance from Acadia, dog friendly with a nice yard & privacy... We found all that here at the Aspen Cabin! Shasta was very accommodating and responsive. The house was very nice and comfortable. The upper deck was the perfect place to go in the morning to read a book. The lake was crystal clear and so much fun to hang out with the dogs to fish, kayak, and float around on the tubes. We had a fire pit night with smores & game nights in the livingroom. Acadia & Bar Harbor were about 45 minutes away while also close to Ellsworth, one of our favorite quaint towns. Thank you, Shasta, for the use of your beautiful home and property!

Shasta was absolutely wonderful! She answered all my questions quickly. We stayed from July 12-July 16. The weather was cool and a nice break from the Florida heat. We enjoyed kayaking across the lake, sitting on the swing with our coffee, and cooking s'mores on the fire pit. The drive to Bar Harbor, Acadia, and Bangor airport was an hour. The home was equipped with everything we needed. We had a bunny visitor most of the mornings and a few chipmunks, too. The home is down a gravel road and kind of in the middle of no where, so there's lots of privacy. If a remote destination, off the beaten path, with no cell towers and the sound of pure nature is what you're looking for, this is the place for you! We loved it! There were moments when we just closed our eyes and were in awe of the sound of silence. I'm a teacher, so my time at the Aspen cabin allowed me to rejuvenate, renew, and relax before starting another busy school year.

We had a fabulous experience! The cabin was as advertised and a perfect location for a family get away! We loved the property and proximity to the water. My kiddos enjoyed the kayaks, canoe, and paddle boat. We especially enjoyed s’mores around the fire. The remote location was peaceful and restful, but close enough to Acadia and all it has to offer. A perfect family retreat! Just what we needed as a family to kick off summer 2025!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Quintessential Maine rental. The lovely cabin is secluded and the pond it sits on is simply beautiful; we spent multiple days not even leaving the property with the opportunity to canoe, kayak, and paddle boat right there from the small, private beach! There was still plenty of time to visit Acadia National Park, smaller parks/independent trails, and multiple nearby harbors, as well. My family is very much looking forward to coming back here, as it was the perfect spot and we all fell in love with it!

Serene location

We had such a great time enjoying the property. The sunsets were amazing! We felt like we had the lake to ourselves. The authenticity of the log home and decor felt like a real Maine vacation. Peace and Relaxation

I can not say enough about the cabin. Shasta was so easy to work with and provided all the details we needed. The cabin was perfect for our family of 4 and our 2 dogs. The property felt completely private. We enjoyed the peace and privacy but also walks along the property and also were close enough to Bar Harbor, Castine, and Schoodic. The kayaks and paddle boats were so much fun and the lake was crystal clear. The fireplace was amazing for little fires to start the day with out coffee. :). The location was great, groceries and activities are easily accessible. We did not want to leave and hope to return soon and stay longer. Thanks again Shasta for everything.

Amazing house!

We loved our stay at this property! Super relaxing and had everything we needed. Kayaking and spending time on the lake was the best part. It made being an hour from Acadia and Bar Harbor more than worth it. Shasta was a great host and extremely accommodating. I will definitely be back!

Cozy cabin and beautiful scenery

Our family had the best time at the cabin. The kids swam and fished in the lake while the adults enjoyed watching them and the scenery from the shore. The cabin felt private yet we were close enough to Bar Harbor.

Beautiful, relaxing lakefront, Memorial Weekend getaway !!

Aspen Cabin was perfect; everything was just as it was advertised! Very clean and well stocked with everything you need. The views were beautiful very serene and relaxing! Little Tunk pond was great and very clean. My dogs loved swimming in it, my husband loved fishing, canoeing and I just enjoyed sitting at the lake and relaxing. We enjoyed taking small little walks around the neighborhood. Shasta was an amazing host. She was easy to commutate with, very helpful and checked in on us to see how it was going. The Wifi wasn't working when we got there, but Shasta did let us know before hand, but between Shasta and the owner Chris they were very accommodating and very responsive of fixing the Wifi the following day, which my husband and I were very appreciative, that Chris came to replace it with a new Wifi. I would defiantly recommend Apsen Cabin as a great vacation rental. We would defiantly rent it again but maybe next time we would bring our kids, or I should say young adults. I know they would love it!! The only thing I would recommend is maybe bring a broom especially if you have dogs. Apsen Cabin does have a very nice vacuum which I used every day, but I like to use a broom, especially when there is staircases, it's just easier for me. This is Defiantly Not a complaint by all means it's just a preference for me. I have been know to bring my own broom sometimes lol. Five stars all the way!!!

The cabin was exactly as advertised. Plenty of room for our family of 5 to stretch out. The kids nicknamed it frog lake due to all of the frogs that would hang out under the kayaks. There are a few other cabins within a close proximity, but we rarely saw or heard anybody. It felt like we had the lake all to ourselves. We need to come back when the sky is clear so we can sit out at night and look at the stars.

Peace, Quiet, and Beauty

My husband and I started visiting the Bar Harbor region in 1986. We come back every couple of years, with our kids now, because we love the area so much. Each place we rent for the week has unique characteristics that make it different from the previous. Aspen Cabin is the perfect spot for those looking for peace and quiet. The cabin was extremely clean, very well appointed, and aesthetically pleasing. The views from the back of the house, of the pond (it is more like a small lake) and the mountains, are stunning, especially during sunset. There is a nice well maintained yard area with beautiful cinnamon ferns and evergreens bordering. There are only a handful of homes on this pond and the week we were there, none of them were occupied. We had the whole pond to ourself, heaven. During our stay we saw multiple porcupines on the drive in and out of the property, loons (their cry in the evening is magical), a bald eagle at the far side of the pond, and a very cheeky couple of squirrels who were annoyed by our presence, lol. This property is close to Schoodic Peninsula, but a little bit of a drive to Bar Harbor, so take that into account when planning your day. There is an 87 mile gravel multi-use/bike path, the Down East Sunrise Trail, not too far from the property that we biked a few days. We had our street bike and trike, so the going was a little rough, but the rides were beautiful. One direction we rode through some marshy bogs with osprey nests and beaver lodges. The other direction took us to a scenic old steel bridge crossing a beautiful river with small white water cataracts. The trail can be used by walkers, bike riders, horseback riders, and ATV riders. Hybrid or mountain bikes would be better for this trail. A few caveats about the cabin. First, it is a drive to get anywhere, that is why it is so wonderfully quiet and relaxing when on property. Second, the upstairs master is at the top of a steeper than normal staircase with shorter than normal treads and no banister to grab for the upper 1/3 of it. Some with mobility issues would find it difficult to navigate. The main level bedrooms would be a better choice. Third, this property is managed by Shasta, who was more than willing to help us with any issues we experienced during our stay. I can’t say enough about how nice it was to experience that level of commitment to making our stay comfortable.

Great getaway for all ages and dogs!

It's a wonderful location! Little tunk held a daily adventure with eagles, loons, and more! The house was great, very clean, and the area is lovely. We spent a whole week and it was filled with great memories.
