Stayed here for one night in July. The standard rooms are the older rooms in the property - they don't quite offer that information up front. The "deluxe" are the refurbished rooms - however there is an extra charge for these rooms. We were given a standard room and in first impressions it was quite tired. The bed and linen looked clean and tidy but the room had a stale smell mixed with some weird spice scent so we requested a change. We were given another room without question but the problem was the same - not quite as bad but still there. It was not somewhere we wanted to be staying when we were paying for the privilege. The windows were open in both rooms as well so it was not an issue of warm days and closed windows etc. We had, by now, rung around the other b&b's and hotels in the area to check on availability for the night but given the late hour and our having been on the road all day asked at reception if there was anything else available as the second room had the same issue. If the answer was no - we were moving. However, this time we were offered a deluxe room - this is when we discovered the difference. For extra money you get a nice, modern hotel room much as you would expect from a 3* hotel. We took this room and it was fine - nice and modern - clean and bright but requested that a member of management contact us before we checked out as none were available that evening. Breakfast was buffet style but with plenty of options. On checkout we noted that no one from management had contacted us as requested and that we would like to speak with someone before checking out. No duty manager was available but to her credit the front of house manager sat down with us to discuss. She also lowered the rate from deluxe to standard which was appreciated. She took our contact details and would pass them to the management team to get in touch... I have waited off on posting this review for several days waiting for that call - none came. So - beware the standard rooms. Old and tired and with an odd smell. The deluxe rooms are good but at the price it was getting pricey for a 3*.
Nice hotel, good location, good kids facilities, fab pool and gym. Breakfast is only okay. Rooms are a bit dated, bed a bit uncomfortable, and the doors to the rooms are old fashioned and bang when open and closed so you can hear the neighbouring rooms door bang every time the other guests enter /leave! But rooms are really clean and they seem to be upgrading all rooms at the moment so its a work in progress. Overall a good quality hotel with a lot of facilities and would stay again. But would only stay in one of the newer more updated rooms
We stayed in this hotel as a family group in July 2017. Our party occupied 3 rooms. We found the facilities of the hotel excellent and great value for money. The leisure centre is 1st class. The grounds are beautiful. The hotel has been recently refurbished and the new rooms are superb. Two of our rooms were the older type but were still adequate clean comfortable and well serviced. The staff were very friendly and helpful.Breakfasts were great with a lovely choice of dishes. We had four dinners in the restaurant which were mainly good. The starters and deserts were excellent. The main courses featured a good range of choices and were mostly good but not special. There was music and entertainment each night. There is a kids club which the children in our party loved. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much and would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
We stayed at the Westlodge Hotel for 3 nights it's beautiful place surrounded by lovely grounds of which you can walk through to the Bantry town centre it takes about 20mins. Our room was comfortable and of good size with tea& coffee facilities, flat sceen TV and lovely bathroom with powerful shower. A very good choice of menu and well presented and always served by friendly and accommodating staff. Would highly recommend.
We stayed at this hotel as part of a Just Go coach holiday. The hotel was situated right on Bantry Bay which was stunning. The hotel and rooms were immaculate and the food good. Would recommend this hotel.
Really enjoyed this hotel, staff are friendly and the facilities are great. Only downside is the restaurant which only has a set evening menu so we had to go to the bar instead, would have loved to have had a la carte and just enjoyed the views over their gardens and towards bantry bay.
I chose this hotel for ease of parking and easy access to the town of Bantry. Reception - Check in/out was friendly and efficient. The checkout process was a little delayed due to non working printers but we eventually got there! The person in front of me was more impatient and borderline rude. Parking - plenty of spaces. Leisure - arrived late in the evening so didn't get to use this facility. Staff - all staff I met with were pleasant and polite. A young man served me in the bar and the young ladies in the breakfast room were more than accommodating and polite. Room - the room I had was dated and tired. It looked nothing like the one on the hotel website. There was a small tv with limited stations. It was clean and everything worked but lacked any appeal. The bathroom had a stale smell (like stagnant water) and appeared to improve marginally once I started to use the facilities. I initially thought it was a dead mouse smell but I don't think that was the case. Food - I ate in the bar (Carberry lounge I think). I had the beef dinner and a desert. Food was good and a decent pink of Heineken. Breakfast was good with a decent choice. Would I return? Probably would but I would look for a better room. Its not an area that I visit on a regular basis so it may be a while before my next visit!
Staff were very nice on my one night short notice stay. Food was good and it was clean and tidy. The room was comfortable. The leisure centre is good. The town of Brantry is a 15 min walk away but it is a nice walk with views. The only low point is that the hotel feels a little worn out. Carpet are wearing and a lick if paint here and there would make a difference. I would say that overall it provides a good experience.
We stayed here for one night on a cycling trip. Our room was comfortable and well appointed. It would be a very awkward hotel for someone with mobility challenges, although I suspect management has a location for guests who need accessible rooms. We ate in the bar restaurant, and it was very good. Breakfast was buffet style, and the food was hot and plentiful. The hotel caters to bus groups, and there were two when we were there, but they were able to handle the crush. It is a bit outside of the town centre (15 minute walk).
This did not get off to the best start however it finished well Beautifully decorated hotel in a fantastic location and resonantly priced We stayed whilst a wedding was taking place and to say the wedding took precedent and we were second citizens was an understatement We waited for over an hour for our food and it even got so bad we had to ask for a manger The manager was very professional and offered us a free meal for the way in which we were treated The following morning was a different story as the hotel had returned to 'Normal' and the staff were exceptional and the food was fine Overall I was disappointed but he hotel has huge potential. It just needs someone to lead the team in a professional manner I would return to give it a second chance but not in a hurry!! It is perfect for a family and the pool is beautiful I don't not normally issue a poor review!
