Description: Grandfather's Gem Getaway offers a cozy and welcoming retreat in the scenic heart of the High Country, located between Boone and Banner Elk. This home is nestled in the serene Mill Ridge area, surrounded by rhododendrons, yet within easy walking distance of the outdoor pool. You can enjoy morning coffee on the deck, relax by the outdoor table in the lush rhododendron, or experience the warmth of the wood stove in winter. The home also benefits from cool mountain breezes in the summer.

The property is ideally situated near the Watauga River, with easy access to nature activities like fishing and hiking. The peaceful community includes amenities like ponds, a kids’ play area, tennis courts, and paved roads perfect for biking. A nearby trailhead offers access to an old ski slope area where you might spot deer and turkey.

Inside, the cabin features oak hardwood floors and rustic touches, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The living room, with its large flat-screen TV, is visible from both the dining area and the kitchen. The first bedroom, located off the kitchen, has a queen-size log bed and another flat-screen TV. The second queen bedroom is upstairs, and the third bedroom, ideal for children, has two twin beds and its own TV. Two full bathrooms with shower/tub combos are available, one on each floor.

The spacious deck features a large hot tub—perfect for unwinding after a day of outdoor activities—and a firepit for cozy fall nights. Grandfather's Gem Getaway is located just 10 minutes from Boone or Banner Elk, making it an ideal home base for exploring Valle Crucis, Blowing Rock, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The property is pet-friendly (with an additional fee) and offers accommodations for up to 6 people.

The home is well-suited for those traveling with pets, with a limit of 2 trained dogs.

Location: Located in Mill Ridge, off of Hwy 105S, in the Foscoe Area and centrally located to Boone, Banner Elk, Valle Crucis and Blowing Rock. The convenient location makes it just minutes away from all the High Country’s most famous attractions such as the Blue Ridge Parkway, Tweetsie Railroad, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls and Caverns, and Appalachian State University.  If you are looking for winter sports there are several different options from Hawksnest Snow Tubing, Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, Beech Mountain Ski Resort, and Appalachian Ski Resort. Relax and enjoy the slow pace of the mountains and the fresh air or be adventurous and go hiking, fishing, biking, or sight-seeing.
