Every single staff member at the purist was absolutely dedicated to providing us with exceptional service, nothing was ever too much and everything was done with a smile. We congratulate Stuart, the purist manager, for creating this calm and luxurious environment. Everything about the purist was pure and perfect. The room, river villa 1, was extra large with an amazing outdoor bathroom and lots of natural light and places to relax. We were so sad to leave and want to thank all the staff for their love and care. We will be back. Felicity and Carolyn Coughlan
The perfect place to stay if you are looking for a beautiful hotel, fantastic staff in a gorgeous setting. The hotel delivers an amazing personalised service which really makes your stay feel extra special. Located about 5 mins by car from Ubud centre, The Purist feels secluded and serene but still close to the action. We took a half day tour with Widi, the hotel driver who was so knowledgeable and helpful- would recommend doing this to anyone. We are already planning our next trip to return!!
Lovely little Balinese resort with fabulous traditional accommodation,Balinese food, staff, pools and service. Lots of extras included in price making great value. We stayed in the Timor villa which was ideal for us as a couple with adult daughter- could be good for two couples too. Pick up from Denpassar airport and return was good (essential you book this in Bali- don't drive!). Its close to Ubud - maybe kilometre or so (use the hotel driver service to go and back and forwards) but really you dont need anything... highly recommended
When we arrived, General Manager and all staff warmly welcomed us. The villa is absolutely clean and beautiful in detail. All facilities are maintained very well and we felt like heaven. I am normally often bitten by mosquitos, but I was OK at the Purist Villas although the villa was surrounded by all nature. Mr. Sudarmu, Ms. Puriyadi and Mr. Coki were very very friendly, kind and they purely care about guests. Thanks to them, we stayed super-comfortablly and happy during staying in Ubud. I stayed at 2 bedroom Hill Villa with my family which was a 2-story building with a huge balcony and a private swimming pool. My husband I used a room upstairs with a king-sized bed with a romantic mosquito net, simple table & chair, cloth-chest and an one-seater sofa. My parents stayed downstairs with twin beds facing a private swimming pool. We had a nice half open air bathroom (the shower and bathtub in seperate spaces) and 2 washstands which were convenient for 4 of us. Toilet does not have a toilet shower if I'm not mistaken. We can see the architecture, building materials and interiors of this whole villas are first-class and very considerate in details. We swam in a public swimming pool as water in our villa's private room seems not very clean, but we were happy with a bigger swimming pool with marvellous rain-forest view. My 80years' old parents were also very happy with the facilities, spa service and the hospitality of staff there. We hope that we can go back to the Purist Villas very soon.
Booked the Bamboo Pool Suite for 3 nights. Spacious villa with a mix of both modern and traditional architecture. The room includes a private garden and pool. Great service! We had lunch as well as afternoon tea at the Balismo. The resort also offers spa and yoga retreats but did not have spare time then to try it out. Lovely stay!
We chose to stay at The Purist as we are big fans of it's sister property, The Giri, in Ibiza so we were intrigued to find out what this hotel would be like. We were warmly greeted at reception, showed around the property and then to our villa. I think we had one of the smaller villas but it was still huge for 2 people. A large living/dining area, lap pool, large bedroom and 2 bathrooms - we had no complaints at all about the villa. It was beautifully decorated and extremely stylish. The property is very quiet and peaceful - perfect for a restful break. We had a couple of days when it was spoiled slightly by a group of boisterous guests but this is not the fault of hotel. It was easy to get into Ubud on the shuttle bus and the hotel could arrange to get you a taxi back or of course, you could get your own. It isn't really possible to easily walk into Ubud - it is several kilometres from the centre - but you could probably give it a try. The weather was a quite rainy during the week we stayed at The Purist so we ate on-site a lot, and whilst the prices are much higher than eating in Ubud itself, we found the prices of food and drinks to be very reasonable for a hotel of this calibre plus the quality and choice of food was great. We also enjoyed complimentary Afternoon Tea every day too. We ate out in the evenings and can highly recommend Locavore but you must book several weeks, possibly months, in advance if you want to go. Service was impeccable - friendly and efficient - with excellent English language skills. If you are looking for a peaceful break within easy distance of Ubud, then you can't go far wrong with The Purist Villas.
I never give 5 star reviews, but the Purist has earned it! The check in with Joe was quick, yet welcoming. We were brought straight to our Garden Pool Villa, which was as amazing in person as it was from the pictures online. All the information we needed was given along with cool towels and virgin Mojitos, which were refreshing. We enjoyed afternoon tea right afterward, with coffee and a Balinese sweet. The villa was perfect; outside garden patio, large comfortable king size bed, bathroom with shower stall and soaking tub and bath salts, nice shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. The AC seems to work well, but for some reason during the night, it sometimes makes loud noises as if the motor was having problems. The wifi wasn't as good in the bedroom as the dining/living room area. There's an area for a massage table if you want to have a massage in house. The dining and living room area can be separated from the bedroom by a sliding door and was quite roomy, definitely allowing more people to stay (on day bed) if you wanted. The TV was a good size, and there are DVDs to watch some movies. There was a 2nd bathroom with shower stall, but it's open to the pool area, so watch out for insects coming in. The mini fridge was a good size. There was a hot water kettle so you can make tea. There were complimentary water bottles throughout the villa (bedroom, bathroom, living room), so you could never go thirsty! The private pool and patio area in the back are perfect for relaxing after a hot day in the sun. The service was amazing. They immediately brought our bags into the room after a long car journey to Ubud, and came to get our bags when our driver came to pick us up to go to the airport. We had many questions (restaurants, shopping, renting scooters) which they helped us with. Unfortunately my fiancé injured himself while walking on the street (not at the hotel, but watch out for unexpected pot holes in the dark!) and needed wound care. They provided ice and a first aid kit promptly. We were having issues with the wifi (which unfortunately was sometimes spotty, especially from the bedroom), and they came over to check on it. The staff at the restaurant (for tea and breakfast) were very friendly. I was there on my birthday and they brought out a small cake with a candle and sang for me, for breakfast! The location is about a 5 minute ride (on scooter) to town. It would definitely take awhile to walk there. They provide a shuttle, but we never took it. There are bikes (first come, first serve) on site that you can use. Pros: Helpful and friendly staff, well-appointed roomy villa, delicious breakfast (with nice selection including a la cart), thoughtful and nice amenities Cons: sometimes spotty wifi, noise from AC, location (not convenient to walk to town, but you can use the bike, shuttle or rent a scooter). Although it's expensive, for the whole package of what you get, it's really fair, especially if you compare to something that you would get in the US! And they also price match, which I wasn't aware of.
When all is said and done, only one question really matters. "would you go back?" The answer to that question after our recent stay at the Purist Villas & Spa is a resounding Yes! After spending a week recently on a liveaboard dive boat, The Purist was a great place to just kick back and relax. The facilities are great and the staff was excellent. They provided great suggestions for day trips and made all of the travel arrangements. We also enjoyed all of the dining suggestions. Thanks to Joe and the rest of the staff for making our stay very pleasurable.
Stayed with friends in the Limasan Villa in early January 2017. Fantastic quiet and restorative space apart from Ubud but offers a free shuttle 5min away to the center for dinner, shopping etc. Very difficult to fault the experience. Fantastic staff and management and Stuart, Alberto and Joe went above and beyond to provide helpful recommendations around Ubud. The food and spa at The Purist are themselves first class and it would be easy to spend a few days without leaving, I only which I had more than a 3-day stay! Wholly recommend The Purist to travelling friends, couples and families alike!
We travel frequently , stay in high end places, and The Purist blew our socks off. We loved the River Villa - it was incredibly spacious and very quiet. The food was delicious- less than a week after returning home I am bothering them for recipes (and they are extremely prompt and gracious about replying). The staff are incredibly nice and very helpful. We didn't even bother going to the coast , we were so happy there, we could have stayed much longer. Lovely spa treatments too. Spa and restaurant prices are very reasonable for a hotel of this calibre.
