Had a first visit to Ubud with girlfriend. Can not forget all the friendly service from reception to restaurant Room was absolutely amazing with private pool, spacious interior, was perfect for two of us Definitely Will be back to Payogan for next Ubud trip!
We booked the Payogan for our honeymoon for the first few nights of our trip to Bali-we were swung by the private pool and how beautiful the hotel looked. Upon arrival we weren’t disappointed - the resort itself is absolutely stunning and the private villas are huge and exactly as advertised. Sadly there were a few things which didn’t quite live up to the hype. On arriving fairly late we ordered room service and unfortunately the food was the worst we had in Bali. The breakfast buffet was quite basic and whilst the staff were incredibly sweet they were almost too attentive-even when we told them we were fine making our own toast they wouldn’t let you lift a finger which was a bit uncomfortable. Probably due to the volcano but the hotel was also empty-this meant the restaurant was empty every night and when we went to have a drink at the bar one evening it was closed at 7pm-we had 4 nights there and didn’t see it open once! Negatives aside there are some huge positives about the Payogan. As mentioned the hotel and the rooms are stunning and the taxi services they offer are excellent-the drivers are SO helpful and arranged pick ups for us every night as well as taking us on a guided tour of Ubud one day. Overall it’s a good hotel-it just needs a little polishing to be a great one!
Located Ideally in Ubud. Lovely rooms with private pool and very big room size. Friendly service.Free shuttle to town. Golf cart service to rooms. Mini fridge included beverages and Bintang Beer.Breakfast included not big variety. Lovely spa.
We stayed here for 5 nights after staying at the Padma Legion and it was a total disappointment. I should have listened to the reviews and my gut feeling. Yes, the grounds are beautiful and the rooms are big and the staff is friendly which seems like they are trying really hard to make up for what this hotel is lacking... The breakfast is a joke, lunch and dinner is not much better. Unless you are expecting a 3 star hotel, do yourself a favor and don’t stay here.
We booked a three night honeymoon package, and two additional nights. The hotel itself is in a beautiful landscape, surrounded by trees and plants. The villas are very private, and offer extra luxuries such as day beds (only some have this), and infinity pools, (again, only some have this). We were shown a beautiful room, but due to a leak we were moved to a villa that did not have an infinity pool or a day bed. After seeing the first room, this was a little disappointing. We asked if we could move back if the leak could be fixed, they did after two nights, but then our infinity pool would not fill up more than half way... not what we expected from an infinity pool. We were without a pool for one and a half days, and when coming back from a hot day in town this wasn’t good. The restaurant serves a pretty decent breakfast, but stick to local food for lunch and dinner as the western food wasn’t great. The restaurant staff really do try hard so hats off to them. The reception staff are friendly and helped us, but we definitely did not get the ‘honeymoon’ welcome and hospitality you expect. We’re pretty easy going when travelling, so to leave only a 3 star review shows how we felt. Sadly for the issues we had with no pool and being moved, they could only offer about $20-30 compensation from a $1000 booking!
Our honeymoon was perfect thanks to the Payagon. We stayed here for a week. The service was amazing. Very friendly and helpfull people. We stayed at a 1 bedroom villa with a private pool. The view was amazing. From the reception to your room they escort you in a golf car every time you need, you just need to call the reception and they pick you up. The food was also great a lot of choices. Also the shuttle bus to the Ubud center is great. You can go shopping without worrying about how to get back. We definitly recommend this place. Thanks Payagon for making our honeymoon perfect.
Beautiful hotel large rooms. Go for a room with a private pool! And c the surroundings. Breakfast was very nice local and international food. It was very quiet due to the volcano Agung erupting. But the staff did their atmost to make our stay as perfect as possible. I would recommend this hotel to any couple looking for a getaway.
A great hotel with a wonderful view in the jungle just a few minutes from the centre of Ubud. It's like a small village in the heart of the jungle. The service was also super and our good friend Wayang (he works for the hotel) was always willing to help us and guide us for seeing the best of Bali and proposed the best activities ever! Every single day they were checking on us in case we needed anything and if we had any problems. The breakfast was more than enough and our dinner had the most delicious plates! For what this hotel has to offer the prices are really low. We had an unforgettable honeymoon!! Thank you Payogan!!! Giannis - Teta
The first hotel we visited in Bali, we went for 4 days and finally lengthened our stay for 4 more days !!!, and they moved us from our room to a better one. The hotel staff are the friendliest we have ever seen, and the peace we lived in this place was magical, fully recommended, It´s really amazing.
After days of climbing volcanoes I needed a little luxury and the payogan provided that. The hotel is on the side of a valley and offers lovely views over the bali countryside. It is a peaceful setting and that fact that everything doesn't look brand means that the hotel sits comfortably in its setting and it adds to the charm. I had a one bed villa with a private infinity pool and the room was huge, well decorated and modern. The pool was perfect for taking a dip in and was very secluded. There are two reasons why I haven't scored it a 5. The first is that whilst I think whilst I liked that it looked worn in a little, in places it was worn down and doesn't take much to fix a loose tile and broken light etc Secondly the service in the restaurant was poor. There is very little nearby so you pretty much have to eat there and whilst the food was good to get any attention you had to pretty much go up to the staff and ask for a menu or for them to take your order. The staff elsewhere were very helpful,so the restaurant staff need some lessons. If returning to bali I would definitely stay here again, but more attention to the little things could make it a great hotel
