A great hotel with a wonderful view in the jungle just a few minutes from the centre of Ubud. It's like a small village in the heart of the jungle. The service was also super and our good friend Wayang (he works for the hotel) was always willing to help us and guide us for seeing the best of Bali and proposed the best activities ever! Every single day they were checking on us in case we needed anything and if we had any problems. The breakfast was more than enough and our dinner had the most delicious plates! For what this hotel has to offer the prices are really low. We had an unforgettable honeymoon!! Thank you Payogan!!! Giannis - Teta

The first hotel we visited in Bali, we went for 4 days and finally lengthened our stay for 4 more days !!!, and they moved us from our room to a better one. The hotel staff are the friendliest we have ever seen, and the peace we lived in this place was magical, fully recommended, It´s really amazing.

After days of climbing volcanoes I needed a little luxury and the payogan provided that. The hotel is on the side of a valley and offers lovely views over the bali countryside. It is a peaceful setting and that fact that everything doesn't look brand means that the hotel sits comfortably in its setting and it adds to the charm. I had a one bed villa with a private infinity pool and the room was huge, well decorated and modern. The pool was perfect for taking a dip in and was very secluded. There are two reasons why I haven't scored it a 5. The first is that whilst I think whilst I liked that it looked worn in a little, in places it was worn down and doesn't take much to fix a loose tile and broken light etc Secondly the service in the restaurant was poor. There is very little nearby so you pretty much have to eat there and whilst the food was good to get any attention you had to pretty much go up to the staff and ask for a menu or for them to take your order. The staff elsewhere were very helpful,so the restaurant staff need some lessons. If returning to bali I would definitely stay here again, but more attention to the little things could make it a great hotel

This hotel is located 15-20 minutes drive from the centre of Ubud. There is a free shuttle service available, because it's a too far to walk. The location is really unique and very quite. The villa's are very spacious, located in the jungle and have an amazing view over the jungle. The breakfast is extended en yummy! The villas are big and have an authentic design so they are not really modern. This hotel is for people who like to relax in true nature. Note it enjoyed great prestige several years ago, but nowadays there are other hotels for the same price. Keep this in mind when booking this hotel.

Everything is excellent except the pool there is no heater so the water is so cold but everything else was extraordinary specially the view and the asian breakfast and they staff was very helpful and respectful.

Stayed in a one bed pool villa and was amazed by the size and comfort as well as the most polite and happy staff. If you are thinking of visiting Bali the you must consider visiting the payogan villas. The infinity pool over looking the jungle is to die for. The food was perfect and the treatments from the spa were excellent. The most peaceful and relaxing stay I have had ever

First of all - who gives here only a one, has probably only the negative sides of the place searched. And whoever takes full five must have been in the honeymoon and was with the eyes and the thoughts somewhere else ... At first sight a great area. Situated directly on a valley slope in the middle of the jungle, you have a fantastic view. Either you walk on foot and do something for your fitness or can be chauffeured with a buggy to get to your room or back to the restaurant/reception ... To Villa (216): Spacious with own pool - lots of space - small view terrace with table and chairs - in the bathroom an outside shower with a double bathtub! Restaurant: for the breakfast there is so much to choose from, even if it is the same every day - but it should be enough for everyone. You can have scrambled eggs or omelets freshly made. In the evening there are only a few country-style dishes, but much international. If you stay longer than four nights there is a free dinner (unfortunately without drinks) and a free massage in the spa!   Reasons for the devaluations - unfortunately everything has already been mentioned several times in the reviews, but il now nothing is turned off yet: - In the villa and the outside are many things to be renovated - on the barns lies a thick layer of dust and on top of the sky of the bed are the traces of geckos and lizards to see (fortunately, "the" does not land directly on the sheet ) - The shower by the pool spends only some drops of water, in the pool border missing panels (risk of injury!) - The lamps in the pool (one of them does not work) and the water nozzles and the drain under water are plentifully covered with algae (can be cleaned very quickly) - the sink in the bathroom is completely loose and the border dissolves correspondingly slowly (no beautiful sight) - the fitting of the bathtub seems to has been leaking for a longer time (the trace of the running water shows this clearly) - the staff everywhere is always friendly and attentive, but you can see in the restaurant, that it is apparently all just apprentices. - only one (!) coffee machine for all guests is then a little under-dimensioned, it takes sometimes very long, until one gets a coffee. - we enjoyed the BBQ special for the dinner and were disappointed; there were not all kinds of meat / fish as "promised" (and apparently always), on the other hand the men at the grill were completely overstrained, after not even 15 minutes all plates with the grilled things were empty and it took a long time to get new grilled ... - the offer of the shuttle service is good, if the actually intended bus would also be ready for use; so often had to be improvised (partly with one of the buggies, ...) - and why does the last bus leave at 8 pm (back then 8:30 pm)? Another bus at 10pm would be very positive (almost all other resorts offer it!)   Pity! Greetings to the management - Please not the usual standard response, ... ;-)

I stayed there a week ago for my honeymoon and we weren't impressed. The communal areas of the hotel such as the pool is really nice and the area where the hotel is, is very scenic and peaceful. A part from that, everything else is down hill. The room really needs a good refresh especially the walls. They have water infiltration and stains, which you would definitely not expect in a "5 star" hotel. This is definitely not 5 star! However their prices are as if they were. Food and drinks are so expensive compared to Ubud area! A cocktail is £10!! This is UK price not Bali! The breakfast is also terrible. Poor quality and everyday the same. Not even a different flavour of cake...everyday the same bad food! They also want to take advantage of everything. Whatever you book through the hotel you will pay considerably more than directly. They are also quite pushy and once they realised we booked activities directly they were a bit hostile. We felt very uncomfortable. And last, we didn't feel special at all for booking our honeymoon there. We didn't get anything in the room (a part from some petals on the bed) plus it was my husbands birthday during our stay and again there was no acknowledgment even though we have mentioned when we were trying to book a spa treatment. Overall I feel that this hotels should be described as 3 or 4 star max and is definitely overpriced for what it is. Don't stay there! You can find better hotels in the area for the same or better price.

We stayed at The Payogan for four nights and did not want to leave. The views from our villa were like looking into paradise, you could never get bored of that view looking over the valley! The rooms are so spacious, clean and excellently furnished. (We were a family of three with our adult daughter and the very large rooms meant we were not on top of each other. The infinity pool was much larger than we expected and we spent lots of time just looking out over the forest area. Breakfast was very good and the staff at the hotel were absolutely fantastic. No request was too much for them and they made you feel very welcome and were constantly smiling and pleasing. The spa was excellent! The girls work very hard as do all the staff at the resort and they offer a vast range of therapies at a very reasonable price. The gardens are kept beautiful and they are constantly being tended to. The resort is built into the hillside and therefore it is very hilly walking around, but if you are not able to walk up and down hills, don't be put off as they send a golf buggy to collect and drop you to your villas 24/7. This is a great place to explore Ubud from as it is only around 10 mins taxi to the main shopping area (unfortunately we only found that out the night before we left and there are some great restaurants and shops there). We found this to be a perfect base for doing some of the things around Ubud too, i.e. white water rafting, elephant safari, etc. Overall this was our first taste of Bali and we will definitely be going back, next time we will spend more time in Ubud before going to the beach.Thank you very much Payogan.

We stayed in a traditional one bedroom pool villa which had stunning views of surrounding nature. Sunrise was magic. The staff were so happy and helpful. Guest services spoilt me with wine and cake and the room was beautifully decorated with flowers. Such a relaxing stay but close enough to grab the shuttle bus into Ubud town.
