What a wonderful few days. We stayed here at the start and end of our trip - taking a few days out in Lombok midway through and got to try out two different style of villa. Before we arrived the staff were prompt and efficient on emails and we were greeted with refreshments and a buggy to take us to our private villa which was stunning. In a private garden we had a pool, massage hut with twin beds, an outside eating area and sun loungers. The villa itself was spacious and beautifully in keeping with the lush exterior of the hotel area. Rose petals and swan towels were on our comfortable huge four poster bed and the bathroom was a highlight. A huge marble bathtub with a basket of rose petals to scatter for a romantic (joint?) bath and an out door shower. It was magical to shower under the stars listening to the cicadas. On our first day there we ordered breakfast to our room, waking early and calling to change the time we wanted it which they accommodated easily and happily. We had then booked a couples massage and facials which we had in the spa rather than our villa. The spa rooms are open on one side looking out over the tree tops and greenery. I went for a couple of treatments during our stay (they were excellent) and once it was during a monsoon storm. An incredible experience to massaged while looking out on lightening, listening the thunder and feeling the storm breezes. The bar and restaurant looks out over one of the pools, the palm trees and the thatched huts and fields beyond. And they free pour the gin. Happy days. We didn't think it could get any better the next time we returned but the second villa was just as amazing if not better. This one had an outside covered living area so we could curl up on the sofa and read with the lamps on but still be outside. The bedroom and bathroom was walled with glass and surrounded by our own private shallow pool we can wade and swim in. You could also swim out through a little gate and into a huge main pool with a bar in the pool at one end and a waterfall at the other. Each villa has its own little jetty into this huge pool with two bean bag beds. Amazing! The staff are friendly and efficient and the aesthetic is perfectly in keeping with the area. Nothing garishly modern or terrible cookie-cutter hotel artwork here! (Some reviews here commented on bugs... well you're in the middle of the rice fields in Bali... there is wildlife but all we saw were some geckos and ants on the patio, nothing drastic. Maybe these customers would be better advised to book into a Marriott...) The sunsets and the sudden choir of cicadas whether looking our over the view from the bar or lounging by the pool in our private villa was magical. We will be back! Thank you for this slice of peaceful romance.
Wow, what a wonderful place to stay. I would recommend for honeymoon lovers to stay here The villas were a real treat for us, Stayed in Private Pool Villa. It was the best honeymoon destination. We absolutely loved our stay at Furama in every possible way.Breakfast was adequate, but not lavish,The hotel is not in Ubud centre but they do offer a shuttle bus for free.
Furama Villas stayed from 10 to 14 December in villa 108. Very nice & peaceful place to stay, very friendly staff, quick room service, Large swimming pool, big rooms, good breakfast, only thing missing which I feel too many Indian tourists staying their but still no Indian tv channel.
On 1st appearance it’s fantastic, thatched roof, huge stone bath, 4 poster bed, outside shower, private pool. The garden in the villa is beautiful. However after our 1st nights sleep ( which was very comfy ) we started noticing things that needed attention, toilet kept running & wouldn’t flush properly asked about it & was told that’s how all the systems are in Bali ( being 1st timers in Bali we didn’t know any better ) was a little wary about showering outside but it’s very private and enjoyed it. Window frames were damp & sliding door was sticky but think that is more due to the weather. Had to try out that beautiful bath so plugged it & poured in oils that were supplied but to my horror when I went to get in the water was BLACK disgustingly black, No Bath !! Had room service a few times & meals were lovely, breakfast was buffet style & we found it very nice, fresh & clean, no flies. The whole villa needs a bit of TLC but we overlooked the problems because we enjoyed the peace and tranquility of having our own private area. We would go back to this villa.
We had a amazing villa with private pool etc first thing the staff are amazing! Oka our first day took us on a amazing bike ride through the nearby villages and rice fields we went and did the monkeys elephants etc and by far this was prob our favorite thing another one of the staff that went above and beyond was Lana always asked us what we needed and how we are doing A+ A+. I hate to whinge but it’s just the small things that annoyed me electrical sockets hanging out the walls, rooms not fully sealed, roof leaking, toilet leaking onto floor, terrible WiFi but all that was complained about they would attend to and fix right away but other than that great place and would stay again.
Just returned from a trip to Bali where we spent 4 nights at furama villas. I'll be honest and say that the first night we were there I spent a lot of time on Expedia looking for an alternative hotel. We stayed in a deluxe villa. The villa itself is very tired looking, the thatched roof isn't completely sealed so all manor of creepy crawlies can get in (and being in a rural location surrounded by rice paddies and forest there are a LOT of insects). Most of the doors in the villa were broken at the hinges and so were difficult to open and close. The wooden window frame next to the bath was damp and rotten, even the toilet seat looked very well worn. There were dead mosquitoes in the mosquito netting around the bed when we arrived (at least they were dead, I suppose). Very large ants and beetles seem the biggest insect issue in the villa and we would often wake up to find dead beetles on the floor and the ants crawling up the mosquito netting. We had a few geckos in the villa at night too, but personally I was more than happy for them to be there in the hope they would eat some of the insects. There are tea and coffee making facilities in a kitchenette area in the garden but I wouldn't use them if I were you, the kettle looked like it was older than me and there were ants everywhere! The pool was nice though. The hotel restaurant is ok, there isn't a massive selection on the menu but the food was nice. The hotel seemed very quiet when we were there so we were often the only couple in the restaurant. They had people singing for entertainment which was nice, but awkward when you are the only people there. We only managed to make it to breakfast on our last morning we were there and we were actually quite thankful for this in the end. Although they offer quite a reasonable selection of food, it is poorly covered and flies are EVERYWHERE! They had a closed unit for pastries but there were flies inside. Flies on the fruit, the bread, and even inside the Bain Maries. The food inside the Bain Maries was cold/room temperature at best. However this in part could have been due to other guests who we witnessed leaving the lids open on them after using. My husband and I opted for a freshly made omelet as the safest option, however my husbands still had raw egg in the middle. The hotel is in a really rural location about a 30minute drive from ubud, a shuttle service is provided free of charge, the earliest one leaves the hotel at 10:00 and the latest return shuttle is 18:15. The spa facilities were really great though and my husband and I had a fantastic massage there. The staff were also really helpful and friendly. Sadly, I would not recommend this accommodation, I imagine it was once something really quite amazing but unfortunately not anymore.
This place has some really fantastic aspects but some serious issues. The location is amazing, as well as the nature. Every villa gives you the full sense of freedom and isolation from the world. The flowers, the trees, the gardens, are fantastic. the private pool at the right size (although the water was very cold). Every villa (we were at 105) is like a small colonial house. I very much like the style of the hotel/rooms that gives the sense of old fashioned. There are details in the rooms that make it magical (the floors, the ceiling, the bathtub, the furniture). The spa/massage rooms are wonderful. Open from the front side so while having the massage you can enjoy the amazing view but of course nobody can see you. The room service was good, fast and efficient and the food was really good. All the common areas are really nice with amazing trees and flowers and everything follows the traditional architecture. And definitely, it is build in the middle of the jungle, fool of trees and plants and flowers that makes it super beautiful, but of course you can't avoid insects, small lizards etc. On the other hand i have to say that the place require a deep deep refurbishment. The place is old and not well taken care off. Furniture, plumping, walls, etc need a very good referb. They need to replace many things in the rooms/villas and fix many other. its an amazing place that is abandoned. And the service although nice and friendly, sometime the too much of cross selling was getting annoying. I hope they will do a really good and in depth refurbishment because the place is magical.
We have just completed five nights at this hotel. While I would like to say it was great I just can't. Every thin you have previously red it true but we have some added MAJOR ISSUES. 1. Not clean 2. Private area for pool up to knees. 3. cold food at breakfast in Bain Marie looking for a dose of food poisoning. 4.mini bar did not contain all items check on arrival and let reception know otherwise they attempt to charge you. 5. Take your open water as you have to buy water to make tea and coffee in your room. They suggested you boil the tap water. Under NO circumstance try this. 6. At 3:38 am in the morning the ceiling fan fell from the ceiling the blades sheared off and fell to the floor. If this isn't enough to make you think twice think a third time! 7. Cups left unwashed and dirty. 8. The buggy broke down taking our luggage to reception 9. A huge argument over the bill and tried stand over tactics by the receptionist to pay for things that were included like breakfast. I don't mind anyone getting a tip if they deserve it but I watched a previous day a similar incident occur when a client checked out as I was waiting for a massage and after they left pocketing "tips" 10. While this company trades as a Furama Hotel it is poorly managed, disgusting maintenance so often stated in reviews and NOTHING IS DONE. management can apologize all they like but they do nothing. I could not write a more scathing comment. Students from a nearby school are being trained here in hospitality and I'm horrified at what they are seeing and learning. Anywhere but here or maybe the fan might fall off in your room while your sleeping but you may not be as lucky.
There are two negatives in Furama. First, the whole of the establishment is dated. It looks as if it has not been refurbished for quite some time. After a day of romanticizing with this feeling of time that passed over the furniture, linen, the painting of the walls, the bathroom sink, the leaking flush, the truth is that the place looks old and not well taken care of. In all respects. And this is slightly disappointing. The second negative is the consistent and persistent cross-selling of everything; from breakfast selling the dinner, on dinner pushing for the next day event.... Definitely a business, but selling can be more subtle when people are already there. There great things n Furama, The location and the setting are magical, the colors and the aromas, the greens and the flowers are amazing, the villas are small houses; very spacious, with decent size private pool, massage area and garden. Yes, there are small lizards and other types of "wild" animals, but really this is a hotel in the "wild"; so it is only natural. Service was very good, fast and efficient. The personnel was helpful and pleasant. Very good spa, in terms of amenities and massage provided. The shuttle service rather limited. Breakfast was interesting, sufficient, without any extremities. There could have been slightly more variety of pastry. So, very good, but definitely in need for refurbishment.
Totally average hotel. The location and setting is beautiful. The villas are nice and big but could do with a refurb and a deep clean. Previous guests' hair was all over the floor and the glass shower cubicle had never been cleaned with years of residue clearly visible. The bathroom window also leaked when it rained, which was every day. The linen was very tatty, grey and stained in parts and could also do with being refreshed. The pool area is nice but the "private pool" is not so much a pool as a paddling pool as the water was only shin deep. The staff are very friendly but I wasn't so keen on the receptionist who checked us in. Quite rude and reluctant to listen to me when there was an issue with our booking details. The breakfast was pretty poor with more or less the same food on offer every morning. Last thing - the hotel is nowhere near Ubud. It takes a good 30 mins to get there by car and the last free shuttle bus leaves at 5.30pm. If you want to stay out for dinner you will have to grab a taxi home. Don't book it through the hotel though cos it's a rip off.
