This place has some really fantastic aspects but some serious issues. The location is amazing, as well as the nature. Every villa gives you the full sense of freedom and isolation from the world. The flowers, the trees, the gardens, are fantastic. the private pool at the right size (although the water was very cold). Every villa (we were at 105) is like a small colonial house. I very much like the style of the hotel/rooms that gives the sense of old fashioned. There are details in the rooms that make it magical (the floors, the ceiling, the bathtub, the furniture). The spa/massage rooms are wonderful. Open from the front side so while having the massage you can enjoy the amazing view but of course nobody can see you. The room service was good, fast and efficient and the food was really good. All the common areas are really nice with amazing trees and flowers and everything follows the traditional architecture. And definitely, it is build in the middle of the jungle, fool of trees and plants and flowers that makes it super beautiful, but of course you can't avoid insects, small lizards etc. On the other hand i have to say that the place require a deep deep refurbishment. The place is old and not well taken care off. Furniture, plumping, walls, etc need a very good referb. They need to replace many things in the rooms/villas and fix many other. its an amazing place that is abandoned. And the service although nice and friendly, sometime the too much of cross selling was getting annoying. I hope they will do a really good and in depth refurbishment because the place is magical.
We have just completed five nights at this hotel. While I would like to say it was great I just can't. Every thin you have previously red it true but we have some added MAJOR ISSUES. 1. Not clean 2. Private area for pool up to knees. 3. cold food at breakfast in Bain Marie looking for a dose of food poisoning. 4.mini bar did not contain all items check on arrival and let reception know otherwise they attempt to charge you. 5. Take your open water as you have to buy water to make tea and coffee in your room. They suggested you boil the tap water. Under NO circumstance try this. 6. At 3:38 am in the morning the ceiling fan fell from the ceiling the blades sheared off and fell to the floor. If this isn't enough to make you think twice think a third time! 7. Cups left unwashed and dirty. 8. The buggy broke down taking our luggage to reception 9. A huge argument over the bill and tried stand over tactics by the receptionist to pay for things that were included like breakfast. I don't mind anyone getting a tip if they deserve it but I watched a previous day a similar incident occur when a client checked out as I was waiting for a massage and after they left pocketing "tips" 10. While this company trades as a Furama Hotel it is poorly managed, disgusting maintenance so often stated in reviews and NOTHING IS DONE. management can apologize all they like but they do nothing. I could not write a more scathing comment. Students from a nearby school are being trained here in hospitality and I'm horrified at what they are seeing and learning. Anywhere but here or maybe the fan might fall off in your room while your sleeping but you may not be as lucky.
There are two negatives in Furama. First, the whole of the establishment is dated. It looks as if it has not been refurbished for quite some time. After a day of romanticizing with this feeling of time that passed over the furniture, linen, the painting of the walls, the bathroom sink, the leaking flush, the truth is that the place looks old and not well taken care of. In all respects. And this is slightly disappointing. The second negative is the consistent and persistent cross-selling of everything; from breakfast selling the dinner, on dinner pushing for the next day event.... Definitely a business, but selling can be more subtle when people are already there. There great things n Furama, The location and the setting are magical, the colors and the aromas, the greens and the flowers are amazing, the villas are small houses; very spacious, with decent size private pool, massage area and garden. Yes, there are small lizards and other types of "wild" animals, but really this is a hotel in the "wild"; so it is only natural. Service was very good, fast and efficient. The personnel was helpful and pleasant. Very good spa, in terms of amenities and massage provided. The shuttle service rather limited. Breakfast was interesting, sufficient, without any extremities. There could have been slightly more variety of pastry. So, very good, but definitely in need for refurbishment.
Totally average hotel. The location and setting is beautiful. The villas are nice and big but could do with a refurb and a deep clean. Previous guests' hair was all over the floor and the glass shower cubicle had never been cleaned with years of residue clearly visible. The bathroom window also leaked when it rained, which was every day. The linen was very tatty, grey and stained in parts and could also do with being refreshed. The pool area is nice but the "private pool" is not so much a pool as a paddling pool as the water was only shin deep. The staff are very friendly but I wasn't so keen on the receptionist who checked us in. Quite rude and reluctant to listen to me when there was an issue with our booking details. The breakfast was pretty poor with more or less the same food on offer every morning. Last thing - the hotel is nowhere near Ubud. It takes a good 30 mins to get there by car and the last free shuttle bus leaves at 5.30pm. If you want to stay out for dinner you will have to grab a taxi home. Don't book it through the hotel though cos it's a rip off.
the hotel is about 20 mins from Ubud and not close at all. It is full of critters and geckos and little roaches. The housekeeping is not done well so the little critters keep crawling into the villa rooms, and they also leave dead insects in your room too. I found a little roach lying on his back in the middle of my bathroom. The room is actually not fully enclosed so the geckos can crawl into your room night or day. They forgot to turn on the water heater so my parents took a cold shower. They don't tell u in advance that yoga classes have to be booked before 9pm, so that the instructor can come the next day. They also have very bad selection of buffet breakfast. The in-room breakfast comes cold. There's ants everywhere, jumping spiders and flies! Lots of Flies. The complimentary tea and coffee served in the kitchenete is full of bugs and ants. The cups are also super dirty and looks like its been there for years. The bottled water tastes funny. The outdoor bathroom in the two bedroom royal villa in 212 has a huge spiderweb, so i had to shower kneeling in the bathtub? The gecko also lives in tree by the outdoor bathroom. The mosquito net keeping the mosquitoes from the bed is torn. There is also a cemetary behind the hotel complex, so beware of strange things. The pool in the villa is nice looking. That's it. DO NOT RECOMMEND. DO NOT STAY HERE. ITS NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY. BAD EXPERIENCE.
Upon arriving at this hotel expecting the fancy and luxurious "spa" environment myself and my husband have been looking forward to since the beginning of the year we found that our hopes of relaxing were shattered. There were numerous lizards in the garden and ants flying everywhere. The pool was not covered and had dead ants, dirt, sticks, leaves and random bits fallen off trees and bushes surrounding it. We arrived late and the lighting in the room is not great so we ended up going to sleep as we were exhausted after flying and needed to rest. Upon waking we found the villa occupied with live and dead ants, midges and lizards. The hotel boasts relaxation however after seeing these we were far from relaxed. We found dead ants on the floor of the room. There were lizards around the gate to enter the villa itself, around the sliding door for the villa and in the outside shower. There was a bath inside the villa room however this did not look at all appealing to wash my clothes in it let alone myself. The shower was outside and already enjoying its space was spiders and lizards catching flies and midges around it. On top of this the toilet did not flush properly and the sink was easily blocked if the water ran too fast requiring me to wait for a few minutes whilst the water slowly went down the drain. In the room we had small ants all over the dressing table so after putting my phone down and not realising I had ants crawling over the phone! It was disgusting to say the least. We immediately asked the reception to move us to a cleaner room with a clean pool and room. The hotel did this for us moving us to the same room grade as booked however nothing changed within the room. We spoke to the hotel management who advised there was nothing they could do about the lizards and ants and also that they could come through the roof which was made out of straw. We were also advised to keep room doors closed so nothing could enter the room but this was useless as the sliding doors had huge gaps in them when closed where anything from a ant to a small kitten could get into! The pool again was the same and this proved to me they did not clean pools regularly as well as the rooms. As I opened my suitcase to get out my pyjamas as we were stuck with the hotel not offering us anything better something fell only head. I brushed my head as I felt it and it was dead ant fallen from the ceiling (straw roof)! I couldn't believe it and as I looked at it on the floor another one fell just beside it. I was notified and again disgusted that I was staying here. The pictures online are not in any way a true reflection of this hotel and I would not come here again to stay. It is not the conditions I was expecting and far from the relaxing holiday I had in mind when booking. I am appalled by the quality of very outdated rooms, the decor and the tattered furniture. This is the worst hotel I have stayed in to say the least! I am shocked that this was a highly recommended and expensive hotel. The breakfast options are not very great too. Very limited as are the food options which are pricey for what you get.
Upon arrival at 12am we were greeted by no one and were walking around trying to find some one to check us in. Eventually after 20 minutes of walking we found someone to check us in. When we got to our room we were too tired and went sleep. Once awake we saw our room and were absolutely disgusted to what we saw. Dead insects on bed and all over the floor. Midges literally crawling everywhere in the room. Lizards in the room on the wall. The room was disgusting and not clean. The doors are not sealed closed and anything can get in the room. The private pool was full of dead insects and leaves and was cold. The breakfast area was disgusting and totally put us of our food. The shower is outside which looked really nice in photos only when going out there it is full of huge ants on the floor. There was ants crawling in the full garden area. The massage area in our room was full of dead bugs. The next morning after complaining we got moved into another room only to find same problems in that room. We have now lost money booking another hotel! This place is a disaster and after one night we are checking out to go to another hotel as this is not a place i would let my pet stay let alone us staying here! MY ADVICE STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!
Nice quite and relaxing. Each villa has it’s own pool as well as a very nice common user pool. Only one restaurant but meals were all of good quality and range. Meals can also be delivered and consumed in your own villa. Villas is quite unique with an indoor outdoor bathroom. Beds are very comfortable and space is generous. Staff were all very friendly and as always eager to help. Only down would be that the location is not within walking distance of any local markets or shops. However they do have complementary courtesy bus to and from Ubud several times a day and are happy to book a taxi for you if needed. Great place for a slower relaxed style get away.
Where to start... Not perfect, which makes it perfect! And by this we mean that the facilities are great but with that "lived in", "ageing" naturally beauty. There's nothing wrong with the facilities, let us make that clear. Everything works and the staff work hard to deliver on your requests, make you comfortable and just generally look after you. Special mention to Dewa, Budiasa (Budi), Ari, Agus, Mirna, Oka and a couple of the other guys who's name I'm not sure of. You are made to feel like family. Food is tasty, good range of cocktails. We stayed in the Lagoon Pool Villa ( you can find out all you need about these villas on their website). Anyone looking to do some fun activities whilst staying at the villas, but go and see the real Bali (rice paddocks, village, farming processes, Balinese culture) then please ask for Oka!! He does great bike tours, agriculture tours and even tubing down the river by the hotel (after a short trek through his, and the surrounding villages). Well worth the experience and at very reasonable prices. All his tours are of the areas surrounding the villas, can be booked from him direct or reception and leave from the villas; no need to leave the resort and travel 30 min until you arrive at your activity. You get straight into it. Flexible with the operating times also. Just a great all round stay. Would definitely recommend it. That is all.
Enjoy breakfast directly in your Villa, take a deep in your own private pool!! The staff is very polite and helpful, there is a free shuttle bus that takes you to Ubud city center, but you may just want to enjoy the peace at the property! Recommended.
