We are about to check out after a lovely week staying in a 2 bedroom villa. Having read lots of comments about the villas being in need of a spruce up, we were anticipating some issues. I agree that management should do a bit of work and spend some money on replacing worn furnishings, however it had not bothered us, and I have not found it to be as bad as some comments led me to believe. The grounds and staff are amazing. The location is perfect, so close to the beach and plenty of bars and restaurants. We found breakfast served in the villa to be cold so we requested to eat it in the hotel restaurant instead and it was always served hot and was very good. We are very sad to be leaving this beautiful place.
Dampati Villas, interiors are spacious, comfortable, with one bedroom downstairs and 2 upstairs, ( can be confusing when looking on the net, all 9 villas are 3 bedroom, when looking, girlfriend and I obviously only required a 2 bed villa), which you will get, but with 1 other bedroom. Breakfast adequate, choices of vegetarian, American, eggs benedict, pancakes, fruit. Gardens well maintained and having your own pool is a must! Staff generous with their time. Being open planned breezes, flow through nicely.
The villas are quite run down, you can tell that they haven't spent on them since the opening. Our bathroom smelled really bad so the light and the fan always had to be on. One night the fuse box went out because of the rain a short circuit occurred. The staff tried to switch the electricity back on but couldn't so we needed to move to another villa at 1 am - there the toilet was clogged and smelled. Then the next day we smelled smoke only to realise that my charger was on fire! That killed two of our chargers and our air purifier. The next day my sister's charger started smoking too in a different room.
Unfortunately the facilites at Dampati Villas didnt match the photos and expectations we had for our stay. The owners need to urgently update the facilities. We moved rooms after the air conditioner couldn't be fixed and the lougeroom had a 2 seater couch for 5 people with no fan or air con The staff couldn't be faulted, working to the best of their ability in far from perfect conditions, they were polite and prompt with their service. The location was good and close to the beach To the owners - cough up some cash these are not luxury villas
Just left after 10 glorious days staying here. Absolutely loved it Every single staff member was wonderful and cleaned the Villa to a very high standard daily. Encountered a couple of minor issues but were fixed instanstly. Would highly recommended and will definitely stay again. Thankyou all so much
Beautiful well equiped villa with private pool. Staff were excellent. Very close to beach area where there are many cafes. Staff drove us to other areas of Sanur and then we returned by taxi. I would definitely come back.
Family and I had the misfortune of staying at these villas. I will say right now that the staff were great and were only able to work with what they have. We originally checked into villa 5 which was badly run down. Bathroom fittings broken, air conditioner in main bedroom hardly cold at all, room safe not bolted down. Only 1 small couch to share for a family of 5. Not the fully equipped kitchen as advertised. After bringing these issues to the attention of hotel staff, they tried to rectify them. The only thing they could fix was the room safe. So we asked to be moved to another villa. We moved into villa 9. Only marginally better. Kitchen still not fully equipped, pool water so murky you couldn't see the bottom of the pool, one shower inoperable, fruit bat droppings and food scraps outside the top bedroom doors everyday, doors to master bedroom could be pushed open when locked, room safe not bolted down, no hot water twice and to top it off, no water at all for a period of time. Though we had more chairs to sit in. And once again I will mention that the staff were trying their best with what they had. Would I stay at Sanur again? Yes. Would I stay at dampatti villas again? No.
The location and staff at the villas were excellent as were the breakfasts. They were a little run down but were clean and the private pool and garden was wonderful. They were set up to be self catering but there was not a lot of utensils provided. However, there are so many good, cheap restaurants within a 5 minute walk that we always ate out.
We stayed here with our Daughter and Granddaughter for 7 nights for my 70th birthday. The villas are in a perfect location. So close to the beach, markets, restaurants. The staff are lovely and so obliging. I was a little sceptical before arriving after reading some reviews. There were some steep steps at the entrance to the villas that you went up and then done the other side. They weren't a problem to us. The villas are tired and in need of some fixing up but were basically very clean and any problem was attended to promptly. There was a large breakfast selection which was brought to the villa at your selected time each day. There wasn't much in the way of pots, pans or utensils in the kitchen but that wasn't a problem for us. We used one of their drivers Dewa for all our sightseeing. He was wonderful and never rushed us. If I was to go back to Bali I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
We were supposed to stay there in April, we had 2 villas booked for 4 nights. When we entered the villas they were dirty run down, blood stains on chairs and a band aid (which was quickly picked up before I could take a photo) in the pool. There was a terrible smell of sewerage in one of the villas, the whole place was dirty, we requested a refund and left - we later found out that a couple of their villas have been refurbished and the rest are very run down - the ones in the photos are the refurbished ones! It took me 2 weeks to get a refund (luckily we were staying in Bali and could keep going and asking for it), they then refunded me less 10% AU$179.59 and cost me a day of our holiday trying to find accommodation for 10 people on easter Sunday! - it is such a pity as the villas are in such a prime position and could be amazing.
