I am a Como fan. I have been to many of their resorts. The Terrace Room was a let down and quiet unusual for Como rooms. The room was lacking the appropriate furniture to make your stay comfortable especially for 2 people. I read the reviews before making the reservation, and didn't believe what I read considering I was always impressed with Como in general. However the review were right. I LOVE Como and will continue to visit other properties except this one.
Resist impatience with the journey from the airport and notice once you are past Urbud, the island reasserts it's more rural scenery. We arrived in the late afternoon as dusk was falling so didn't appreciate the resorts immediate surroundings but on waking next morning we discovered our villa (in a group of three - sharing a good sized pool and large covered 'chilling out' area) overlooked dense forest which, as we discovered later, runs down several hundred feet to a swift running river. These and other villas are served by a windy road snaking up the hill to the resorts reception and other facilities, restaurants, wellness centre, etc. In short the arrangement of the villas, the tranquility (occasionally interrupted by distant hoots from intrepid white river rafters), the beautifully kept grounds, and views of virgin forest and cultivated areas is just magical. And the staff were just so friendly, charming and effective. From the guys offering lifts -up and down hill - on the golf carts, to the smily gardeners, the waiting staff providing a greedy diner with extra tropical fruits, to the lovely receptionists. All were so obliging. We stayed for 5 nights and would have wished for more. If I had a niggle, I'd have preferred slightly brighter lighting in the villa - very romantic to start with, but not so good for reading. Also, dare I say it, next visit I'll bring some Yorkshire Tea Bags, the home grown being somewhat tasteless. So overall, a resort to be highly recommended!
We enjoyed the tranquil environment, excellent service (w a personal buttler!), amazing landscape and decoration, healthy and tasty food, with best massages in the world! I missed the yoga. The lower pool area is a must to visit!
This resort was beautiful and the staff was incredibly accommodating throughout our stay. My husband and I spent 3 nights during our honeymoon in one of the terrace suites, and the accommodations were gorgeous. The photos on the resort's website do not do the estate or the rooms justice at all! The food was also delicious - we were told everything was local and that most (if not all) ingredients were grown on the property. We had really flavorful and unique dishes at each meal that were very healthy and organic. My only hesitation from giving this resort 5 stars is that we started to feel a little bit bored by the last day - it is a wellness resort after all, so if you are looking for relaxation and zen then it would be 5 stars, but if you want something more lively then I would suggest only staying a couple of nights.
I had the most amazing experiences.... from the quality of the service and accomodation to the sheer beauty of the location and setting. My time here was very special and i cannot recommend it highly enough!
Great stay! Wonderful butler and very good excursions. Loved the spring pools! Beautiful property with quality food. We did morning trip to temple to see sunrise over volcanoes and bike riding through marigold fields and rice paddies
I traveled on my own and enjoyed a 3 day health retreat at Shambhala - from my private butler through to yoga, treatments and food i could not fault this place and plan to be back! I did the sunrise mountain climb adventure - 2am departure but a great trip. Also went on bicycle tour around the local neighborhood that was run by the hotel - loved this experience and the scenery was awesome!
We recently had the pleasure of staying 4 nights at the Como Shambhala Estate. Their customer service was impeccable and everyone greets you by name. It was a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere, we were sad when it was time to go. The food was amazing as well as the fresh juices! When we come back to Bali we will only stay at the Como Shambhala Estate!
We've spent one and only night in the Shambala estate (under Como management). Our first pic in Bali had to relocate us for one night due to a problem with our reservation. So lucky we were to find this place ! We enjoyed so much the amazing location. The resort beautifully overlooks the sizzling nature of Ubud. Far enough from the center to fell completly apart of the mass-tourism craziness of the center of the island. The property stands onto thousands of acres so that you'll always feel to have more to discover. The level of service in unparalleled and very pro. What makes the COMO SHAMBALA so specific amongst the other luxury retreats in Ubud is its concept. A very small hotel where you feel lonely. 6 areas with 4 accomodations each (not to mention independant private villas). Each coming with its own style and a common swimming pool and rest area. The buildings are made with lots of taste with all natural materials (teack wood and volcanic stone). The very consistent and amazingly artcrafted ensemble makes you feel like 50 decades ago with all the modern age comfort. If Hemingway had been there, no doubt that he would have written another of its masterpieces. The only regret we had about the room and our experience with the hotel overall is that, occupying an upper level family suite, we were woke-up by our neighbours because of the craking floor and doors sound. Nothing that we can do about it but this is something to know prior to choose from the rooms list. All the rest is purely perfect. The food focuses on healthy and natural products. Everything is so good and tasty ! Absolutely perfect. The breakfast is also a piece of cake... Many activities to keep you in good shape. The Yoga class are very good, Even for beginners. We loved every minute of it. No doubt that we will stay there again once back in the region.
Second time at the Como, Recommended by friends, I am a convert to idea of wellness but the food, service, massages ere are second to none. 300 staff looking after 30 guests when i was there. Wow, just wow.
