Banyan Tree is a beautiful resort, but there are a couple of issues that the mngt should take note of: - was allocated room 221, cliff front villa. was very disappointed that the plants along pool were not trimmed and they blocked part of the ocean view. Had specifically asked for unblocked ocean view, but yet was allocated this room. - Experience at Jumana, a fine dining restaurant was completely marred by the below par service of staff, plus an inconsiderate diner. Seems to me the staff are not well trained. Half the time they do not smile, and when we asked for 1 of each kind of bread in the basket, they didnt seem to understand and laughed at us instead. The service staff would also address my husband as Mr Lee or Pak, when his family name is Tan. While changing plates, a waitress even asked him to help her hold a plate. The staff was also unable to control/ seek the cooperation of a rude diner who spoke very loudly on her phone. Skip this restaurant if possible, food is average and yet overly priced with below par service. In terms of view and service of a fine dining restaurant, it pales in comparison to our experience at Conrad (koh samui). Plus points of resort: - common area is clean and tidy - service staff elsewhere are polite and friendly, esp those under housekeeping and those at breakfast area - love the layout & decor of the villa
We stayed 7 nights at the resort in a two bedroom villa. Really nice villa - it was exactly as good as expected. The staff were generally very friendly and service minded. The hotel was very silent and the atmosphere was missing. The restaurants were empty in the evenings and the selection of dishes did not correspond to the expectations of such a hotel - and it was overpriced. The daily activities offered for kids and families seemed boring and not attractive and could use an update. It seems like the management should try to create a more inspiring atmosphere and surrounding. A slightly disappointed experience.
By this point, we've stayed at quite a few Banyan Tree and Angsana resorts throughout Asia and we know what to expect as there is a strong theme or standardisation in terms of rooms/layouts/amenities/food/service/etc. We stayed at a very large Bintan Banyan Tree double room pool villa a couple years ago and were not very impressed as the unit itself looked quite run down and in need of upgrades/refurbishments so prior to booking this trip, we did not expect all too much (as it was also in Indonesia as well). Thankfully that was not the case with this Banyan Tree resort. Despite being open for nearly a decade, most of the resort is very well kept and maintained rather well, especially compared to other resorts in Bali which are nice during their opening stages and then begin to look old due to lack of proper staff maintenance. One highlight for us was the food at the resort. We were prepared for overpriced and subpar dining experiences so we brought an entire bag of snacks and instant food in case the restaurants disappointed us; we didn't end up eating a majority of what we bought. The Ju-Ma-Na French restaurant had great food, breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean and very attentive service. We found ourselves eating there for 3 meals in a 4 day stay. The room service and other restaurants were more than acceptable as well (we had a dinner at Tamarind restaurant which is at their spa with good Balinese cuisine and it was a sampling menu with many small dishes to try). We came out pleasantly surprised.
Stayed at a 2 bedroom villa here for 3 nights in early July 2017. The villa is luxurious and very large at 370 sqm. Service at Banyan Tree is exquisite. Had a couple of breakfast and dinners at Bambu. The buffet spread at breakfast was very good, and quality was excellent. For dinner, Bambu serves Asian cuisine, and food quality was equally excellent. Service at Bambu was really great, staff makes an effort to address guests by name. The restaurant manger came by regularly to speak with guests and checked on service quality. Highly recommended.
Located in cliff top, less people, quiet area. The villa is huge. It's really a luxurious 5-star hotel with very good services - buffet breakfast with lobster and truffle scrambled eggs. it's a nice experience.
We would highly recommend this hotel as we were made to feel at home from arrival onwards. Staff is very polite, helpful, and courteous. We were upgraded one step up to a Presidential villa which made our stay even more memorable. The breakfast buffet was excellent and catered to our indian vegetarian tastes also. Views were fantastic and all facilities were up to the mark.
This IS THE place to stay if you are wanting the very best in isolation, high quality and relaxation. The setting is stunning over the cliffs and the many apartments are ridiculously over the top, more than you need in terms of space, though I would have to say somewhat under equipped in the kitchen area. Aside from the under equipped kitchen (if it's not going to be fully stocked for use, don't bother having a kitchen area), the villas are...UNBELIEVEABLE! So much space and opulence, it's the perfect place to decompress and become one with the spacious environment. The vegetation is so well kept and well planned, the pool is more than required, but appreciated, the bed is one of the most comfortable ever... it's a general wonderful experience. One factor to know is that this hotel is 45-60 minutes from any forms of outside entertainment, BUT if you're looking for a lush experience and 5 stars, this is the place you WILL feel like a new person after 3 to 4 days.
We have the Cliff Edge Villa and the view is magnificent. It is a 2 bedroom villa but the rooms are separated by the walkway outside which is nice for privacy. The staff is pretty friendly and the food is solid. The only thing I don't like is how far it is from all the Bali attractions, but that doesn't reflect on the hotel. The hotel is in the southern part of Bali and is about a 2 hour drive from the temples, monkey forest, elephant ride, etc so what we did is hire a driver and try to knock everything out in one day. I would suggest staying in a villa with an ocean view because the view is spectacular. The staff is prompt at meeting requests and they make it easy to get around the property with golf carts :-) Overall a 5 star stay.
Everything about this Resort is just perfect! A luxurious villa with stunning views of the Indian Ocean, incredible tasty dishes at every restaurant and the most courteous, friendly and amazing staff - what more could you ask for! We stayed 7 nights but wished we could have stayed longer, we can't wait until we head to Bali again just to stay here. The Resort was extremely clean & tidy and the staff just cannot do enough for you. Thank you Banyan Tree Ungasan for making our visit to Bali the best holiday ever. Jade & Steve
The villa was very spacious and beautifully designed. The view from the infinity pool was breathtaking in a very relaxed atmosphere. The resort was beautiful although we wished there were more dining options. You can't pass on visiting Ju-Ma-Na Bar for drinks and food, it has an excellent view of the ocean.
