We reserved two double beds non-smoking well in advance, but on arrival we were told the only room left was one king bed in a smoking room. The room was worn and the shower was moldy. It was holiday season in Indonesia so the hotel was busy, but mainly filled with large group tours, so the restaurant filled fast for breakfast. The housekeeping staff began vacuuming the hall outside our door at 8:00 AM! luckily, because of jet lag, we were already awake. We tried one of the swimming pools, but they are built deep in the courtyards where they get little direct sun, so despite being on a tropical island, the swimming pool was too cold! The lobby was probably considered very posh about 25 years ago, but now it looks dowdy and dirty. On a positive note, as in most of Bali, the hotel staff was uniformly friendly and appeared to be trying to do their best despite the poor facility. We only stayed here because it was close to relatives, but even though this is not a resort area, the hotel needs massive renovation.

Questioning Aston standard after staying in this hotel. Checked-in was swift but the unpleasant experience started when you step into the room. Room style is 1 bed with living room but it comes with shabby carpet, dirty sofa, small (24') LCD TV, mosquitoes and unclear bottle water brand. The A/C is not working properly and hence, stuffy air. Bathroom very basic and not well maintained. Tried their breakfast and a mess since the restaurant packed full of tourists and foods were running out. Tea and coffee were cold and staffs attitude did not care. The worst Aston hotel experience and definitely impacting the whole Aston chain image across Indonesia.

The 1star experience started since check-in. I've booked 2 non-smoking deluxe rooms with double/queen bed. Instead I got a smoking room and twin bed. When I asked them to change at least to a non smoking room, they said the rooms are full as they only have 1 non-smoking floor. Ironically, I saw a sign "Non-Smoking Hotel" in the lobby. What a lie. To accommodate the bed issue, they offered to join the twin bed, "Hollywood style" that's what they call it. You can see from the pics I attached what do they mean by this. I checked in with another 2 colleagues. Same with me, they got smoking room with twin bed. When we asked for an upgrade due to the inconvenience, we were told that ALL rooms are full. Yeah.. cause it's so believable that they can get 100% occupancy during a non-holiday season. When we came into the room, we laughed when we saw the "Hollywood style" beds. One of the rooms has a hair dryer with unsealed cable hanging and it's not even enough to reach the electric socket. Probably they are planning to electrocute the guest so they can free up some rooms... also in the same room, the A/C is not cold as there's a leakage so my friend's room were once flooded. In addition to this, my bathroom's sink pipe is leaking. So every time I wash my hands, the water will go straight down to the floor. When I called to ask for extra mats and informed them casually that the pipe is leaking, they just gave me the mat without offering to fix it (I think because it's a usual case for them). It got fixed AFTER I asked them to fix it. The deluxe room size is big, but need a whole lot maintenance. Sofa is dirty, bathroom's mirror looks like it's never been cleaned since the hotel is built, the view is so ugly that I can only see some wreckage buildings. This is Bali, you supposed to at least have a pool/garden view for a in-city hotel.. but no, wreckage buildings.. nice. And don't forget the mosquitoes. This is a 'claimed' 4-star hotel in a city area and not even a resort, so lots of mosquitoes here means that they never clean the hotel thoroughly. Speaking of cleanliness, I'm certain that they never replace/wash the quilt cover. There are lots of hairs on the cover's Velcro. Breakfast options are ok, taste is so-so. Service however, is NOT ok. When we first came in the restaurant, there was no one helping us to get a table. When I asked for tea, the waiter told me to get it myself. The waiter was 'cleaning' a used table but left a cup, a tissue, and didn't wipe the table at all so there were still some crumbs. Cleanliness is definitely not a priority in this hotel. We had a seminar here. In fairness, the seminar room is spacious and the facilities (eg. the mic, projector) works well. Though we need to argued a bit with the banquet people as we asked for the tables to be covered but he said that the standard is not like that. I was like "Even 3 stars hotel always cover their seminar table, why is Aston's standard be any different?" After arguing, they finally covered it (so make sure you complaint to get what you want here). During breakfast, one of the managers gave me a comment card which I filled in with a lot of complaints. I left it on the table, hopefully the management will see it and care enough about that hotel to fix things fast.

Makes room more colorful and add more exhaust fan in the room. Add more complimentary such as free ice cream and bakery. Give free shuttle to airport, and giving free map of Bali as this hotel become one of tourist staying spot.

Hotel is good in term of food and cleanliness. I love the food very much, it is quiet good in taste. But the TV set is old fashioned and small (24 inch). Average is quite good. Near the city government complex of Denpasar. We could take a walk to the complex.

Cleaness must be increase very seriously, sofa is dirty many inscact, ac not cold,Startegic area, breakfast great but in traffic hour some menu already sold out and the refill was so long . customer service ok, channel tv must be upgrade

Not too good for those who travel around the city. Denpasar now has traffic jam almost everywhere, so having to stay in the middle of the city, far from tourist destination is not a good choice. besides, the breakfast is not as good as a 4-star hotel standard

A quiet place to stay in Denpasar. Love the hotel New Year's decorations. Nice pool, nice big suite. Clean room. Excellent breakfast with lots of varieties. Friendly and helpful front desk always ready to help 👍🏽

Good replacement while my standard room is unavailable, they upgraded it to better room. Good swimming pool! Easy to find and meeting point too. We should bring our children to have this place next time visit

Not a very good first impression. Here's my story: We stayed in Gatsu area and Aston was just around the corner. So we decided to check out the hotel and use their pool for a day. Their Facebook page had some info for non-guest swimming and it clearly stated Rp 50.000/person. I enquired whether towel and snack were included in the price. Their reply via Facebook Messenger was both towel and snack included with choises of nasi goreng/mie goreng/french fries and iced tea for drink (see photo). My thought was fab! Great! Me like! So this morning we headed to Aston for a swim. The gate security was kind and straightforward showing us where to park. First impression of Aston was wow! Very high standard, luxurious, vast and clean, but unfortunately things went downhill from there. We asked one of the reception staff where to pay for non-guest swimming, he did not know the answer and had to ask his colleague which she then told us at the restaurant (weird I know). At the restaurant (things got really interesting here) the staff said Rp 60.000 per person with free towel, french fries plus water only. Nasi goreng/mie goreng would be extra. Different both in price and snack menu??? My husband said not to make a big deal as it's only Rp 10.000 difference but that's not the point. It's the principle of being told two completely different info and it's confusing for guests. If Aston's staff did not know the correct price and menu for such a simple thing as this, then this place's pretty much doomed! I insisted the price was Rp 50.000 even showed the Facebook's print screen and she agreed. Aston had three swimming pools, one on the second floor behind the restaurant and two on the first floor (both had kids pool). We went to one with kids pool and it was nice, big and clean. Oh wait, there were cigarette butts littered the ground near the pool but everything else was perfect with manicured garden. No shade though and the black tiles got rather hot during the day. The food we ordered were mie goreng and french fries. Mie goreng was tasty and delicious but it did take a while to show up as well as the towels. No toilets on first floor - we couldn't find it anyway. What we find was an abandoned shopping arcade. Quite eerie. Make sure you check prices!
