Anantara Uluwatu, a resort that has so much going for it. We recently went there on our honeymoon. First of all, all the great stuff: -amazing rooms, great Jacuzzi, picturesque views, a great infinity pool, a mini movie theater, great gym, one of the best spa's ever we've ever experienced! It is really hard to fault anything about this place. But... the service...I really hope the management can sort out the service to back up such a great property. Our package included an airport pickup transport service. It was such a hassle to organize that! We wanted to check in a day before our package started and we were told we cannot do that because they were full, regardless of us wanting to pay for the extra night. Well I just booked it online and once at the resort we discovered that the hotel was running at 50 per cent occupancy. So they had plenty of rooms! Anyways, back to the airport transport, so many staff wrote to me, that at one time I didn't know who to communicate regarding our airport pickup. And I did not receive any confirmation until on the day we were travelling to Bali. Such a stress. When we arrived at the resort, check in was great. It could've been quicker, considering that their hotel staff picked us up from the airport. He could've informed the front desk that we were an hour away and to get our check in documents ready. Moving on, the breakfast at 360 restaurant. There was so much items on offer, it just didn't feel like a luxury spread. It felt like any other 5 star hotel. The pastry felt stale, the hot food was just the usual everyday! One of the days we went for the special Mud crab night at 7:30 pm to find out that they were sold out of the Mud crab. And it was only 7:30pm! We were looking forward to eating crab at the restaurant so much that we did not look to book any other places for dinner. After a lot of conversations with the restaurant staff, we were offered one crab among the two of us. Other nights where we went for dinner, there were just so many staff around, that ever time we wanted to have a conversation, we just kept on being interrupted by staff. We can understand that they were just trying to do their job, but they could use a bit of subtlety with their service. Overall, for the price you pay at this hotel, you deserve much more than just the view and the room; you deserve an unforgettable service. But, it was lacking during our time at the resort.
Right after you arrived in this hotel you ill be greeted warmly by the staff and the lobby view overlooking the Indian Ocean. I stayed in here for two nights in their Ocean suite room with my friend. The room is has modern interior design, spacious and has outdoor Jacuzzi! Their 360 restaurant on the top floor serves the pan Asian food is my favorite, but the one down by the main pool has unparalleled view as well. Apparently is very hard to move myself out of the their infinity pool....can just sit there to laze my day away watching the sunset and day goes by. I would not say no to come back to stay here again.
Popped in to have brunch and intended visiting the beach, however we discovered that the beach was rather small and chose not to spend time there. Brunch was delicious and the ambience the restaurant was lovely.
Having lunch at this resort is sumptuous! We ate on the top floor with 5 waiters, and only the 2 of us. Impeccable service. The ocean view was incredible. We walked around the whole resort. You must check out the resort wedding chapel. It is an architectural masterpiece. Make sure to contact the resort beforehand - to make a reservation. They will probably not let you in - without advanced warning. This is likely one of the top 100 hotels worldwide. And I know - I've been to 74 countries on 6 continents - so I know quality!
Amazing view and infinity pool! Travelling in the wet season there were only a handful of guests at the pool so it was incredibly relaxing. Service was great with all the important little touches - about 6 bottles of water provided every day, hand towel and face washers at each sink (one for each of us!), Nespresso machine, cold water provided at the pool with a bell for service. Room was massive and outside spa was great! Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were ok but nothing special. We had pizza by the pool which was good but it would be nice to see some sandwiches on the lunch menu. We ventured out to Bukit cafe (about 10 mins walk) for lunch which was delicious and had proper coffee. We also walked to rolling fork (15 mins) for amazing pasta! A few negatives: - transport was insanely expensive. Hotel had a sign saying no ubers so we asked them to arrange a taxi to get to alila villas for dinner (6km). They offered us their transport (140k) or a local Uluwatu taxi (100k)!! Uber or a blue bird would have been about 30k. The Uluwatu taxis basically have a monopoly and refuse to use the meter. We downloaded the blue bird app to book a taxi to the airport - it cost 147k (hotel was charging 610k!!) and arrived right on time. I would recommend downloading the app or walking outside to book an uber. Whilst I understand resort prices are usually more charging quadruple is a bit much. - spa was also overpriced - 1100k for a 60 minute massage (+21% taxes/service) - more than I pay in Melbourne!! There is a spa next to Bukit cafe which was 200k - unfortunately they were booked out as they are very popular. Overall a relaxing stay.
We had a very good experience in Bali. Especially during our 1 night stay at Anantara. The service was excellent! The room is very spacious and what I love is it has a Bose speaker! On the first day we had a complimentary photo session by Ms. Putri. It was a 30min session and both of us are having fun! Thanks to a great photographer that captured our memory in Anantara unforgetable. At the second day we had our massage session at Anantara Spa. Overall, Anantara is a great Resort to stay with! Definitely I will come back again.
A good resort, but there rating is to high. It’s overpriced. The general staff and bar staff make this place. They are great. The front desk need to do better, the women that served us was either angry about our booking or hated her job. If you greet people with a smile it makes a difference. I will say the view is great. Special mention to Landy, great cooking class
Me and my wife spending 2days at Anatara . We got suprise from the staf and say it happy honeymoon . Tks alot for mr.ahmad fikri and ms Putri solehah for so care with us . We stayed there for four nights and I must start by saying that the hotel needs maintenance. Several things looked damaged including a boat used to decorate the place (it seems that they noticed it and removed it yesterday). The hotel is poorly provided with light in most of the common areas. At night, it looks as if no one is staying there. It could even be dangerous. Food offer in the hotel restaurants is very limited. There’s humidity in the room and cleaning was below standards. We once used room service and there was a glass they did not remove for three days! The hotel staff is very nice as in fact happens everywhere in Bali which is great and must be highlighted. An Englishman who was managing the breakfast restaurant was very nice after I wrote a complaint and tried to make breakfast better. This morning he had prepared a superb fruit plate and also offered pancakes in the end (which never came). The management also offered us late check out (until 6 pm). All in all, I would not recommend this hotel specially considering it’s rated as 5* and was expensive. It clearly does not live up to such a standard. I do anticipate that renovation will soon take place or it risks losing most of its clients.
We checked in here on Jan 7th for 6 nights in a Cliff Edge Suite. The staff and location are amazing, but there is a lot that falls short making this hotel pretty average for the price of over A$500/night. The hotel is in need of a better maintenance programme. Whilst not run down, it verges on it. From general attention to detail with cleaning, to stained towels and day beds by the pool to a really concerning underwater pool light that was hanging by wires and held together by tape, it's all a bit tired. We were also woken up at 3:00 am yesterday by a random alarm that went off for about a minute. No explanation or apology has been forthcoming. The food at the restaurants is generally ok. The included breakfast is acceptable, if average when it comes to the local food options. The variety is good. The best meal we have had here is at Sono the Teppanyaki restaurant. The wine list is limited, and quite a few wines listed are not available. All in all, this property is a pleasant place to stay, but the price will see us look elsewhere next time.
