We stayed here for two nights. It’s was an extremely pleasant stay. The staff were all friendly and always willing to help with any queries we had. It’s location is simply beautifully. You genuinely feel like your are in a jungle. The pools were awesome especially the infinity pool at the top. The room was clean and looked great. Being a vila it was incredibly spacious. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others traveling to the Ubud area.
beautiful location, relaxing atmosphere. nice pools, staff is helpful and they are really caring about you. breakfast is good, rooms are comfy and clean. shuttle service to ubud centre is free. Lots of great excursion destinations in the area.
This is a great hotel in ubud! Great staff that take care of guests and are always smiling, the Emerald restaurant is very good, also well priced and has a europeon section for those that would rather eat safe! Great rooms with nice views and plenty of space! We loved the 2 days we spent there REGARDS Gavin Jacobson
My husband and I recently stayed here as part of our honeymoon for 3 nights, having spent a previous 2 weeks elsewhere in Bali and Lombok. Upon arrival we were wowed by the views from the lobby, however check in seemed to take a little longer as we seemed to be waiting for our room to be prepared even though we were checking in at 4.30pm. I had booked a one bedroom villa with private pool, and we were given a 3 bedroom villa with private pool instead which wasn't a problem. First impressions were great as it had amazing views, was spacious and seemed to be what we were hoping for. There was really no need for us to have 3 bedrooms and I would be interested to see what the 1 bedroom villa was like. We didn't have keys for the other rooms so they were completely unnecessary for just 2 guests, and when we did take a look inside there were piles of dead ants swept and not cleaned up. Once we settled in we asked about the free shuttle service on offer to take guests into the centre of Ubud. Upon booking we were aware that the accommodation is a little out of the way, however was pleased to see on the hotel facilities that a free shuttle is provided. This was in fact a little deceiving and I think the wording should be changed on all booking websites. A free shuttle is indeed provided, however only at certain times per day with the last shuttle into Ubud at 3pm, and last pick up at 9pm. As we like to eat out, this meant we had to pay to get into Ubud between 5/6pm which is fine as this is an added service, however the times should be clear upon booking so guests can plan accordingly. When we arrived back at the hotel I was shocked to find a dead cockroach lying on the floor in our room. We also noticed ants crawling along every skirting board so I called reception to ask someone to come see. The person came back (unfortunately his English wasn't great) and he removed the cockroach and sent someone else back with another can of bug spray. For the rest of our stay we kept spraying our room but ants were still everywhere, to a point where they were even crawling around the sink area. I was concerned to leave bags open and anything lying around! I understand we were staying near the forest so insects are to be expected, however I am in agreement with other reviews that there are gaps in doors etc that can easily be fixed to try and limit ants. We also had the odd lizard and spider which I didn't bat an eyelid too, as this is to be expected. Another big thing for me is room cleanliness. Our towels didn't appear to be changed during our stay and didnt look clean, and I also noticed how dirty the quilt was inside the cover. Also, the mosquito net over the bed is stained inside with holes and appears to have blood stains on one of the nets. This should be taken down and cleaned regularly. The white blinds are also mouldy and dirty, and again can easily be fixed to make a better impression by giving them a clean now and again. I don't believe our floors were cleaned to the standard I would expect either, as I noticed when spraying the bug spray clumps of dust flew everywhere. In addition to this, at breakfast my husband went to use the toilet near the restaurant just after 8am and was disgusted to find the toilet seat covered in stained urine which hadnt just happened. This isn't something we expect from a resort hotel. General cleanliness is very poor overall. Other things that need improvement are: - Breakfast choice is very limited! Having stayed in 2 other places prior to Alam, we were used to having choice in the set menu. There are only 3 choices: American, Continental and Indonesian. It would be great to give guests more options and even allow them to pre order for a set time the next day to save waiting around. Also, the buffet 'hot' choices were stone cold i.e. cold hash browns and soggy French toast. - With bugs being a problem, there should be a turn down service in the evening where hotel staff close the blinds (there were many in our villa that were the manual ones to tie around something) and also spray the room. Again, we had this in a previous villa in Sanur and at a following accommodation in Ubud and was a great added service - The gate to the villa doesn't lock from the outside so is left open when we were not in the villa. A simple padlock to lock this would be better. - Wet pool towels were taken away and not replaced - I wasn't able to sleep past 6am due to a rooster next to our villa. This is no fault of the hotel, but just be aware if in villa 1 that you may not get a peaceful sleep! Positives: - Great views over the forest area - Friendly staff - Complimentary honeymoon cake Overall we had an OK stay but 3 nights here was plenty for us. We explored the whole resort on the last day hoping it would leave a more positive impression but again the whole place looks run down, the river bar is dirty and closed, and the river isn't a great sight full of litter. For the price paid we expected a much higher standard of cleanliness. There are definitely things that need improving which can be easily done, however I tried my best to see past this to enjoy our stay.
We stayed three nights, beautiful rooms fantastic service, we'll come back. Transport into twon and to the airport relaible and clean. If you borrow one of the hotel bikes (we cycled to the rice terraces) be ready for hills, lots of them!
We spent a five days here, as a part of our honeymoon in Bali. We loved the sweet people of Alam Ubud and the beautiful surrounding and view. You made our honeymoon more special, also with the Candlelight dinner and singing around the fire. Our driver was a bit earlier then we thought, so we had not enough time to say: thank you all for everything! Lots of love from mrs Lisanne and mr Johan (Stayed in kunti 2)
This was by far one of the best places to stay around Ubud! The service is excellent and the views are spectacular! The food is mediocre compared to what you pay for it. The staff is welcoming and their English is excellent!
Beautiful villas amongst rainforest some with private pools not as clean as it could be but didn't stop us having a great stay. Starting to look a bit old can could do with a lick of paint but u r in the rainforest so u have to remember that. Would definitely stay again but would need to be fitter as there a lot of stairs to contend with lol ( it is built on the side of a mountain so we did expect them though ) something to think about if if your fitness is not the best
I came here with my wife on her birthday to spend the day (we didn't stay here). We had an amazing yoga class in the middle o the jungle with a water fall in the background followed by a luxurious 3 hours of spa! If you're looking for breathtaking views of the jungle with tranquility and serenity this is the place to visit. What made the day extra special is the friendly staff who got my wife a birthday cake. It was really special. Thank you!
We stayed at Alam Ubud for 2 nights on our first trip to Bali and were very impressed with the villas and level of service. Positives: - It is located a short drive away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud's city centre. - Perfect spot of you want to find some peace and quiet. - The rooms are very spacious and open with beautiful views. - Their infinity pool is quite nice although a tad bit small. - Staff are very helpful and friendly and go above and beyond to provide you with the best service. The lady at reception, Saathiya made us feel very welcome and ensured our stay was a pleasant one. - The property is well maintained and very clean. - Great food too. - Excellent value for money. Areas for improvement: - Dining area could be a bit bigger considering they have no shortage of space. - Massage and spa therapists can be trained better to improve their techniques. Don't get me wrong - they are quite good otherwise but with some more training the spa experience can be improved. - Could offer complimentary pickup from airport.
