Dont trust this villa when you're in hunger early morning. Actually they have very less choice on breakfast and you have to pay if you want taste western breakfast like bread and toast . The expensive villa with worse offer .
A beautiful place to stay; it was amazing to look out from your balcony and see the rainforest and hear all the animals! The staff were lovely and very helpful, and the facilities at the resort were quite appealing and clean. We were lucky to only have to go down 2 flights of stairs to our villa; if you're someone with a bad knee etc. perhaps try to book a villa close to the top-we both walked right down the bottom to the river and were gasping for breath as we made our way back up. The food was hit and miss at times, and the resort is a fair way out from Ubud (about 10-15 mins car/bike ride) although they do provide shuttles at specific times. Overall a great stay, just a few minor things which prevents us from going to 5 stars.
hidden gem in ubud! eventhough the location is quite hidden, but when you arrive there, all those curiousity gone away as soon as you being welcomed by the staffs. walked into the villa leave us speechless looking at the detailing, nice room, nice long balcony, nice living room and really big bathroom and nice resort surrounding! they have two main swimming pool at the site, the largest is the infinity pool nearby reception and the other one is down below next to the river and closed to the jungle. the resort also arranged a surprise anniversary cake to us and a special anniversary deco in the room that we appreciate most! staying in the room enjoying the rain drops from the balcony overlooking to the jungle is the best feeling i've ever experienced. breakfast need to improve as the option is too limited, but the best thing about breakfast is you will be entertained by a live performance of traditional balinese music. thanks to the great hospitality from the resort. i will come again for sure!
The villas are private and beautifully appointed. Located in a rainforest a short distance from rice fields and Ubud central you feel miles away it's so peaceful. The pools and tea huts were well kept. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I had a wonderful stay.
This place is beautifu, very quiet, probably more wonderful for the newly weds, but we enjoyed the nature of the spring water pool and the magnificent jungle from the balcony of our villa. If you are a senior like me you will find the stairs a bit of a trial because it is built on the side of a mountain. But worth the pain.
We stayed here for three weeks and the entire experience was sublime. We checked in at midnight and were greeted with a fresh fruit juice and flowers. Our room was huge and beautiful with high ceilings and exposed rafters. The bed is very big and comfy, we had two large baths and two private massage tables (luxury villa). Our balcony was large and private with a view of the jungle. The staff are incredible and a credit to the industry, they helped make our stay so special. Every morning while we were at breakfast our room was fully cleaned and made up again. Staff in the restaurant/bar are some of the most polite and attentive I have ever come across. Everyone goes out of their way to be friendly and helpful, even of you have an odd request. Lucky us stayed over Christmas, New Years and the seven year anniversary party where there was a special dinner and the staff preformed traditional dances and had a big celebration that they invited us to be a part of, it was very cool! While we were here we did a cooking class (a good option for a rainy day) which was so much fun, the kitchen staff are very passionate about their work and teaching Balinese cooking to others and gave us recipes to use at home. They also cook amazing, fresh food! We also had the romantic candle light dinner which was very special, the detail that the staff had put into organizing it was amazing, there were flower petals and candles everywhere. We organised all of our Bali activities through the very helpful and informed reception staff. Massages and yoga are definitely worth trying, my partner had never done yoga before and only tried it as a favor to me thinking he would hate it but the instructor was so good we went back again and again. There is a free taxi to the center of Ubud a few times or the hotel would organise one for you at a cost if you wanted to go at another time. The free bike hire was handy for exploring the immediate area (insta worthy rice terraces!) around the hotel. There are quite a few steps as the buildings are on the side of a valley but it only helps contribute to the feelings of privacy and being completely surrounded by jungle. And we both lost weight! I'm sure all the steps had something to do with it. We felt very relaxed and close to nature here. All around the property there is interesting art/sculptures/temples. Both of the pools are fabulous, the spring pool at the bottom near the river is more private and very refreshing (the water is also sacred and said to keep you looking young and beautiful!) but one of may favorite things to do here was to have a cocktail while watching the sunset over the infinity pool, the view is spectacular! We have much love for Alam Ubud and will be returning
Very nice staff, amaizing view at the pool and very good food. The location is also ok, you can easily visit a lot using bikes or shuffle buss in a short time. Would definetly recomend this villa to others traveling to Ubud.
Pros: Staff are helpful, nice, good customer service View of rainforest canopy is beautiful Quiet Can see fireflies at night Big, spacious room Wifi router in room. Reducing waste by using reusable shampoo, conditioner, bubble bath bottles. Cons: Bedding smelt mouldy ! Hard to sleep with that damp, mould smell Roof, corners of shower, bed mouldy. Air outside would sometimes smell like a sewer, so I would go back inside Look down at the beautiful flowing creek amongst the forest and look closer to see rubbish everywhere. Deceiving shuttle bus service. Arrive to find out it only runs a few times a day and it costs $10US one way to hire a drop off driver into town. This is really inconvenient as Ubud is so far away... and the hotel says we can drop you into town. Alam Ubud is not only a few km out of town, it’s not actually in Ubud. Hair dryer so weak it wouldn’t dry my hair Shampoo bottle empty Limited menu at restaurant for dinner Limited breakfast buffet choice Pool bar never manned. Rock bar derelict, closedown. Massage was terrible! Paid hotel price for a massage and it felt like she was just rubbing lotion into my skin. Thoughts Not worth the money. I know it’s hard to keep mould away during the wet season. But it is not hard with a team of cleaners. I know this because I live in the wet tropics and have a wooden house. Mould grows fast ! But it is preventable if you stay on top of it! E.g daily cleaning. I know the rubbish in the creek would have moved from upstream. However, need staff to go down there and remove it. Rubbish is everyone’s problem and Indonesia really need to get on top of it. Particularly if you want people to visit on holiday. I felt like I spent a lot of money and time venturing out to Alam Ubud for a relaxing rainforest getaway. The views were ruined by the smell of the sewer, the rubbish in the creek and the unclean room. I hope you can make Improvements here.
We had a great stay at the hotel, we spend 4 days Pros: 1. Location amazing, feels like we are staying in jungle lush green everywhere 2. Clean neat and Spacious rooms with compound wall and gate :) 3. Two swimming pools out of which one is of direct spring water without added chlorine, still very well maintained 4.Located near to rice field and Tirtha Umpula temple 5. less crowded, best for couples Cons: 1.quite away from Ubud centre, transportation bit problem 2. bykes rental available at hotel but only 2 bykes and out of that 1 wasnt working 3. shuttle to and fro to ubud are not so convenient. 4. considering standard Bali its quite expensive
I stayed here with my sister and 4 friends for a very special 40th Birthday. We had the 3 bedroom pool villa which was perfect for us. The staff were all lovely, but room service and cleaning a little slow. What I do want to mention though, was the effort the staff went to for my sister's birthday party....the food, table setting, decorations, and her name written across the floor in flowers....what a perfect evening. Dinner in the jungle...under the stars. The staff had our music all hooked up to speakers...the chef and staff came out to dance with us...it was a truly special VIP celebration. Thank you Villa Alam with your help in organising this for us :)
