I must admit. I like this hotel. It's close to the "Weinstrasse", the lovely villages, the "Gradierwerk", and easy access to the great swimming pool. On previous review I appreciated the new Riverside Terrace restaurant but now I must admit, this also comes with a negative. I was here two times in the last weeks and each time, in the hot summer weather people were having drinks and obviously loads of fun in the open air bar until after midnight. As the hotel doesn't have airconditioning I had two options: no sleep because of the noise downstairs, or close the window an no sleep because too hot. The upper floor suite is even worse when it is extremely hot. You must be close to 30°C inside...
There was no air condition and 28 degrees... need renovation work. Breakfast and a la carte dinner ok. The public pool next to the hotel was ok but very crowded. Good place to see the winelands from and alot of nice villages close by.
The rooms are absolutely in need of renovations but they are clean and comfortabel. The bathrooms are nice and seem to be a bit more recently done up. We had dinner in de restaurant, very nice and good wine selection. Also the breakfast buffet was very extensive. As a guest you get excess to the local pool which is huge, very nice!
Stayed for one night. Hotel is very average and hasn't aged well. Rooms are basic with carpet on the floor, clean but no charm whatsoever. Restaurant food at lunchtime was a menu and the portions were too big with totally overcooked meat. Wouldn't recommend eating there. Breakfast was fine though. Nothing special, just one of these passing through town-hotels.
This is my second stay in this hotel which is very closed of the Salines. The park center with indoor and outdoor pools, sauna is next to the hotel. Very good. The city is very nice and 10mn walking distance. The staff is friendly and smiling. Hotel rooms need a small refurbishment. No air conditioning. Room is clean, I was in a privilege room and a bit small for the extra €. Beds are OK. Restaurant proposes a good variety of meals at a good price. I recommend this hotel.
Well here we are again for the 10th year at the Wurstmarket and staying at the Mercure Bad Durkheim. In fairness the hotel has not changed very much over the years, the lifts have been modernised and our bathroom had been refurbished to a decent standard. There is not much to add other than to say it is the best hotel to stay at for the Wurstmarket, you step out of the main entrance and you are in the festival site. To ensure you get the best hotel rate make sure you try the accor site first, you may find that some dates over the wursmarket period are available (they tend to get blocked) as the direct price with the hotel is somewhat pricey.
I recently stayed in this Mercure hotel in Bad durkheim it is easy to find from the rail stn just a walk through the park towards the salient wall , i was checked in by a very professional your lady by the name of Isabel she was a credit to the Accor group of hotels 10/10, after i had checked into my room which was made up to a very high and clean standard, the only thing i missed was the lack of air conditioning due to it being very hot weather, however there was already a Fan in the room which helped a little., i went out to check out the local area , returning later to dine out on the lovely hotel terrace my waitress was Julia who again was excellent in her roll and provided very good advice on the food and local wine, after dinner i again went out to see the Wurstmakt festival grounds when i returned the reception staff had changed to the nighttime staff and i was warmly greeted by patrik a really nice character with good local knowledge and a fine knowledge of good music. The following morning i feasted on a wonderful Buffet breakfast consisting of many things both hot and cold. And once again tended by very good staff who were polite professional and did a fine job of keeping the buffet replenished right through towards the end of the breakfast sitting, very impressed i would love to return sometime hopefully to use the nice looking swimming pools and water park adjacent to the hotel
Quite an old hotel, which can clearly be seen in furniture, carpet, restaurant, absence of airco etc. but still, one can enjoy this place. I had standard and superior rooms before but now I got a special treat and enjoyed the suite. This is absolutely nice. Superb view on the "Gradierwerk" and the surroundings. Nice bed and a salon with bar plus terrace. Here you come to peace. And at a descent price. The lack of airco could be disturbing on one of those real hot summerdays. The minor suggestions to the hotel management: How about installing one or two hooks to put your bathrobe-towels in the bathroom? And maybe a safety lock on the door of the room? The Malongo coffee machine didn't work (most of them don't), so we had to ask for a regular coffee. Remark for the cleaning staff. they were in and out in five minutes... Dining is good here and you should try the riverside terrace great food in the sun. Ask the marvellous M. Dieu to reserve a table for you. And of course, spend half a day in the great salinarium, you get free tickets at the front desk. Or get a relaxing massage in the wellness area of Mrs Stein.
The positive thing for this hotel is the swimming pool. You get 3 times (per day) free access to public swimming pool which is next to the hotel. The staff is helpful. But it is the only hotel of our 2 weeks visit to Germany that the receptionists hardly smile. Breakfast is good (for the price). Our hotel room is decent. The fan is good for the hot night. But there are big spot of fungus on the shower curtain which you would not expect from 4 star hotel.
Outdated hotel, however great service. Rooms are ok, missing AC. B'fast buffet is very good, choice of food for lunch and diner are limited. car parking in front af hotel is free. Direct access to public spa is a plus!
