My husband & I returned for a second time to this wonderful retreat. The hotel & staff are just amazing! We were celebrating my husbands birthday & our wedding anniversary & we're very pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of champagne on ice with chocolates in our room courtesy of the hotel. The food was lovely but we were just a little disappointed with the choice from when it was a Rui Hotel. There was not as much choice on the salad bar & a limited choice of vegetables & potatoes at dinner. Breakfast however was wonderful & so we're the desserts. The staff were always very attentive, polite & friendly & the cleanliness of the hotel & foyer areas was outstanding. This is a beautiful quiet hotel in a lovely area of Isla Canela & nearto a lovely harbour with a handful of bars & restaurants Great for an evening stroll. The only negative I would say to our trip this time was that our room & balcony was small compared to the lovely room we had in 2012, even though we were only 3 rooms away! On a positive note though we had a beautiful sea view to wake up to each morning! Thank you Melia Atlantico for another wonderful stay. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends & family & we hope to return in the not too distant future!
Excellent hotel and amazing staff, make sure you look up Jesus and Bianca around the pool bar, it is like having a second family waiting for you when you arrive, amazing service and make you feel very welcome. We hope to see them again on a future trip.
This is a very cool hotel with a cosy atmosphere and plenty of activities all day long. Food is ok with enough variety and breakfast too. My wife and 19 months old daughter have been here twice and would return. The only two not so good things are cost which is a bit above the average and the surroundings as there's nothing to do, even the options for a meal at lunch are somehow limited. But anyway, I like the place. Ah and the staff is very friendly too
Lovely hotel in a quiet resort. Stayed here at the end of June and was pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel, quality of the food and evening entertainment was excellent. Normally not too keen on in house shows but here it was first class.
We have been to this hotel many times over the years, but this is the second time since it became a Melia Hotel. When you go into the hotel you will be impressed with the size of the reception area, and also the efficiency of the reception staff who are very polite, knowledgeable and multi lingual. Behind the reception area is a vast conservatory which then leads out to the pool area and a bar. There is no shortage of sunbeds or towels that can be exchanged many times during the day. You can book half book half board or all inclusive, and you go into a very large air conditioned glass room where the food is very well presented, then take the food to the dining area. There is a very good choice of food for breakfast or dinner or even lunch if on all inclusive. I have to say that some of the food, whether its starters or deserts is presented in small plastic containers which is probably to stop people wasting the food. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean from the communal areas to the bedrooms. We chose a room overlooking the estuary as this a quiet with shade and you don't get too hot sitting on the balcony lunchtime watching the small boats going towards the marina. The bedrooms are quite large with very nice bathroom accessories, lots of towels and Very Large bath towels. There is hotel entertainment in the evenings but you can also take a 5 minute walk to the local shops or get a coffee for 1.5 euros and an English paper. The local town is Ayamonte which is a 15-20 minute bus ride and worth a visit.
Located on the Isle of Canela (but not an island) the position of the hotel is near the marina. It is a 10/15 minute drive to Ayamonte, which is a pleasant town. The lobby is impressive lobby, and a large seating area adjacent where entertainment is held during the evening. The buffet service restaurant offers a wide selection of food, ample choice for most people. Our only complaint is some of the food could have been hotter. Cleanliness in all areas, the pool area had plenty of sun beds and parasols, with a pool bar and last but not least hardworking staff. Outside the hotel - miles sandy beach, a promenade for a walk and nearby the marina for a drink or supermarket. There is also a ferry service to the Isle of Cristina Bus Stop 2 minute walk from the hotel if you want to explore Ayamonte. Yes there are mixed reviews about this hotel but when we were there at the beginning of June there was only a few children, the hotel was a quiet relaxing place. Ask reception for safe key - no charge , free Wi fi in all parts of the hotel and very good connection. Would definitely recommend and certainly return if we are in the Isle of Canela.
just arrived back from 11 days here. I have read a few of the reviews and can see there are very differing opinions about this hotel.it could be a 1 or it could be a 5. I've taken the average. We arrived on 29th June just in time for the start of Spanish summer holidays.the hotel was 70%+ full of young spanish families all with at least 2 children under 6.this made the pool area and the restaurant very very noisy!!.this lasted for about a week and then quietened down. the hotel itself is in a wonderful position right on a vast beach.the service in both the bars, restaurant and hotel generally is 1st class. There is a marina(punta del morel) about 100yds away with lots of bars, fish restaurants.Very spanish! The activities seem to centre around the more energenic types and seem too need the bassbox played at full volume.Maybe some more sedate activities, for us of a more mature age, might be helpful. Apart from a couple of exceptions you have to eat all meals indoors in the restaurant. this can be very warm, noisy and unrelaxing.glad i wasn't on A/I so could eat out. Could say a lot more but think this give a fair view of both sides
WOW - you can't beat its location, its impressive lobby, the buffet service restaurant , the stunning view from our balcony , the cleanliness in all areas , the pool area with plenty of sun beds and parasols, the pool bar and last but not least the most amazing hardworking staff. Outside the hotel - miles and miles of sandy beach, a promenade to walk off breakfast lunch and dinner ending up by the marina for a drink in the local bar. Bus Stop 2 minute walk from the hotel if you want to explore. Yes there are mixed reviews about this hotel but there is always a way to work round any issues. Would highly recommend and definitely return. Ask reception for safe key - no charge , free Wi Fi in all parts of the hotel and very good connection.
We are currently staying at the Melia it is our second time in two years and it is getting better each time, entertainment in the theatre is very professional and the best we have ever seen on any holiday. The staff are very good and as always Reuben is brilliant the best waiter by far, quick empathetic and very professional, he always is genuinely smiling. Food is good and drinks are good, one thing lets it down and that is a lack of variety in the cocktail department and their location. There is a brilliant bar near reception that is ideal as a cocktail bar but does not do them, the only bar is the poolside bar and this is limited to 4 or 5 types. The hotel really suites my needs the only thing is the cocktail situation otherwise perfect, in my opinion it is well worth a visit, of course everyone has an expectation to what a holiday should be like for them and their personal needs but for me this hotel is a great choice.
Nice room and lovely setting right on the Atlantic but almost everything is based around noise - even small stretching classes require full volume heavy bass music, whether in public rooms, around the pool or on the beach. There is basically only one pool so all kids' classes are right on top of adult swimmers, sun worshippers and others generally trying to relax. The one restaurant is cavernous and extremely noisy at, it being Spain, all hours So, great if you want a spot with your under 10 year old children , otherwise AVOID.
